DJI Mavic Pro $624, DJI Spark Drone Alpine White $313 @ Officeworks

54010

I believe this is the lowest price it has ever been so far. Go for it. And yes, i know, it can't beat the bunnings drone deal.

DJI Mavic Pro $624 seems to be great value too.

DJI Spark - Alpine White $313

DJI Mavic Pro is already discontinued from DJI website, wait for other retailers to put on sale very soon! But still its a good price yet.

    • Couldn't imagine it going lower than $600 AUD.

    • Yeah, I don't want to buy this and then regret it afterwards because it turned out to be a discounted price.

I mean the price is like $900 when discounted before, so $650 because discontinued and clearance? Very possible

The Bunnings deal was like a $2k Drone selling for $500 or something

However, it is a great price if you want to keep it

      • +1

Agree 100%. I've been on OzBargain for ages and the only drone deals better than this I can remember were the Bunnings (and only 50 people actually got the drone) and the $999 flymore combo ebay deal which was like 6-12 (they have had that drone for close to 2 years I reckon) months after release. As i said in a post earlier, I wouldn't buy to resell it (worth 1k tops on ebay and then more people will sell lowering the price to 800-900 then ebay 15% fees, shipping fees, possibility of being scammed etc). But a great price if you want to keep the drone.

It's officework. change of your mind? Just refund

  • +1

Ive been looking to pick one of these up cheaply second for the past few months and they are around $800-$1000 depending on how many batteries, so this is a great price. Hesitant to buy cause I just decided a week ago to upgrade only to a 1" sensor (Phantom 4 or Mavic 2Pro) as Im already using a Phantom 3 Pro and Parrot Anafi this will be more sideways in terms of image quality….

Still I have it sitting in my cart… it the boss thats really scaring me though.

EDIT: Ordered, the Phantom 3 will be sold if this is honored. Deciding factor was that I am in the TRS windows and I should be able to squeeze this into my carry on luggage. Making it closer to $560.

  • Still got mine from the fly more combo $999 dealio

Spoke with Jaya from Officeworks 1300 call centre, she confirmed they check prices 2 times daily and this price is current, true and correct.

    • +1

      uh oh

    • what about stock level? there was something similar i think, for the projector.

      • +1

No stock in Australia at present

  • +1

Ordered one, I’ll sell my Spark Fly More Combo once I have the Mavic. I previously had a Mavic but sold it as I felt guilty not using it a huge amount but at the $500-600 range I don’t mind it sitting on the shelf more. And as much as I love the Spark I do miss the RAW photos, and the longer flight time per battery. I also like the fully folded size compared to the non-folding Spark. The Spark is still great though!

    • +1

      Similar situation for me
I also own a spark before and after some time
I actually sold my spark and kept my Mavic Pro at the time
Main reason was Spark flight time was too short
and the unfoldable design of Spark makes portability between Mavic Pro and Spark pretty similar

Now I finally sold my Mavic Pro because Mavic Mini meeting all my needs

    • +1

Ditto. I'll liquidate my spark too.

Spark is a great device, but not great for panoramic photos / videos because of its narrower field of view vis-a-vis other dji cameras.

  • +1

I am riding the craze train again. Lets see what happens! I would love the drone for this price!

  • +3

Dam, this gotta be the most expensive "I don't need it, but it's cheap" buy for me ever! And that's coming from someone who never flew an expensive drone before 😂

    • +2

Trust me, this is GREAT for new drone flyer
Super stable flying, obstacles avoidance give you great confident to fly

      • I sincerely hope you are right. So this mavic pro comes with controller with screen and joystick?

        • +1

Correct, the screen isn't the video footage
But it does display most flying info
Such as battery life, signal strength, attitude etc
The Pro controller can also tilt camera angles, return to home button, modify custom buttons settings etc

          • +1

@[Deactivated]: Knowing the attitude of your drone is very important. Angry or depressed are best avoided.

  • I'm on for the ride too.

  • Can anyone confirm if the spark comes with controller?

    • +1

      No, the spark doesn't

      • Cheers!

  • +1

I couldn't help entering the party again….Bought one. Thanks OP.

  • +1

FYI, if you change your mind any time before the item gets delivered, you can simply call Officeworks, provide them with your order number and they'll process a refund

    • Im guessing we'll see the refund processing occur sometime tomorrow without making a call!

      • +2

actually I called them about stock availability, and also asked them about the price, and the lady confirmed it is the correct price with their internal system

        • +2

Nice work! Still doesn't rule out a pricing error….but there is hope!

          • @ash2000: There is 6,000 clicks. Probably around the same orders. Couldn't see them all getting honored - but I hope I'm wrong.

            • +3

@AjsGuns: I doubt that each click is worth a purchase, lot of interest and checking the link out of curiosity, see if its legit still available etc… Clicking the link is free ordering is still $600 plus dollars to justify.

              • @danield: Hopefully, but some people would of ordered doubles/triples.

            • @AjsGuns: Clicks don't mean much. Saw many deals where item was on frontpage with 2,000+ clicks and only 2 people bought it. (You could tell because it's an ebay item and they show amount sold + past 24hrs)

      • Yep the refund happened, I'm guessing not many actually got one for this price.

  • +1

never flew a drone, but bought one anyway. if the order is honored, hope i don't crash it

    • +1

      never flew a drone

That's not likely to change with this order I'm afraid.

      • Ha, have been discussing this deal with my mate who has the Mavic Pro. His advise is borrow mine if you actually need it

        • +1

          He's trusting!

      • Yes without a remote it's hard right?

  • +1

Shut up and take my money! Fingers crossed! Thanks OP!

  • I've always wanted one.. i've ordered both the Amazon and this deal just in case one of them is a pricing error.

If both arrives which do I keep?

    • Amazon?

    • Amazon?

    • Amazon?

    • Amazon??

    • Amazon?

    • Amazon?

    • Amazon?

    • sorry the Amazon deal mentioned on page 1. Mavic Air Flymore combo for $639.99

      • am I blind can't see it lol.

Edit: might have found it on amazon but looks like its from a seller that's "just launched" no feedback no sales

        • yeah i saw it to doesnt seems very trustworthy

      • Saw this the other day but seller looks shady. Too much hassle.

      • +2

that's 100% a scam, the store 'just launched'

    • -1

      Amagon

    • Amazon?

    • Amazon?

    • can you let us know if you recieve the one from amazon thanks

  • Is the Spark really only half the drone compared to the Pro?
    $313 v's $624??
Spark not coming with a controller is a concern.

    • No, it's a lot less than half :)

      • Why's that, just watched some comparisons and they don't reflect that

        • Well I ordered a Spark anyway.

  • I'm expecting this to be the CE model, so that 7km range for FCC models will be only 4km in Australia, correct current Mavic Pro owners?

Plus, DJI Care plans should be more expensive than say, the Mavic Mini that also doesn't require registration with CASA (though short of using it in a commercial sense, is free anyway).

Just trying to weigh up the pros and cons of this versus the Mavic Mini (Fly More Combo) that I have on order. With the Mini FMC I'll be getting (at best) one and a half hours flight time versus the Pro's 27 minute flight (yes, I know I can always buy more batteries). But dat OcuSync tho. I expect it's a LOT more stable and reliable than the Mini's WiFi signal, even if Australia's getting the FCC version that goes the full 4km.

4K isn't super important to me, considering some of the great upscaled video I've seen online from the Mini's max 2.7K video, but 1080p should be fine for a good while.

I don't know! $629 for the base Pro model or the $720 I'll be paying for the Mini Fly More Combo?

    • For casual flyer (like me), 2k or 4k makes no difference (I only share 1080p videos anyway!)
If you have the spare money, just order/keep both :)
Otherwise, its a question of Portability vs Stability
Mini is super portable while will not be as stable flying as Pro
Also, I really love the Pro's controller as lots of buttons that you can control the drone directly
While the Mini controller only got the basics, and you need to do most other controls on the app

    • The 4km/7km range is largely irrelevant as CASA rules state you must keep it within sight.

I can't see my spark at much over 1km away and I have 20/20 vision!

      • +1

True about the line of sight rule but who's really going to follow that if they know the range is that far lol? It'd be like telling a kid to NOT press that red button. Some of those range test videos online get pretty amazing.

I'll be flying this out on my family's farm, so it's got plenty of open, flat space to get around and I'll more than likely send this WAY outta sight! Shhh… ;)

        • +1

I'll more than likely send this WAY outta sight! Shhh… ;)

Your secret is safe with me!

  • If you guys check gumtree and facebook marketplace i am pretty confident the deal is honored. I have seen a dozen brand new Mavic Pro pop up in the last few hours.

    • There may be ads, but no one has picked up their drones yet mate. December 9th appears to be the earliest

      • The flagship stores actually have/had stock. Despite it saying online only

        • +1

Nope, not in Vic anyways. My mate is working right now at a store and I asked him if he had any in and he said "it's a online order only" no stores have ANY STOCK. Including all of the flagship stores, he called the biggest one in Vic and they searched the floor and called back to say nah they don't have any. Only way I can see that being accurate is if the people on gumtree/marketplace purchased these yesterday/earlier before it was posted on OzBargain.

He also said that they are on back-order - everyone who has received an email saying they are ready for pickup on Tues/Wed will be waiting until at least the 10th of Dec, but he said they should be fulfilled - dunno how much I believe that though with the amount of hits this is getting.

          • @AjsGuns: Received a refund email, I'm guessing not many actually got one for this price.

  • Got 1 to pick up at Auburn.. 11 December 2019

    • Good luck with that… refund emails going out to most people.

  • Ordered one thanks OP
Brought Mavic Mini from previous deal but still waiting for delivery.
Which one should I keep if both turn up?
Mavic mini is a fly more combo with 3 batteries
but Mavic Pro is 4K capable

    • Keep both :)

      • Sounds like a great idea
I will give my wife one for Christmas

I highly doubt they will full fill the Mavic order.
Last time they cancel my order without even telling me until I called and chase it up

        • Received a refund email, I'm guessing not many actually got one for this price.

  • Hmm, I chose after pay, would that be an issue in case I need refund? How would that work?

    • Nope. Same here. Refunds go back to your card as per normal.

  • so if you bought one and didnt register and do training? does that make you an illegal owner?

    • Do you have to? Is there a free training course? Would hate to cause a plane crash or something terrible.

      • +1

Dont think you need to take any training course from what i see in CASA website
Only that you need to be over 16 of age, and pay the money

        How to register
When registration is introduced, to register your drone you will need:

        • to be at least 16 years old
        • proof of identification – Australian passport, Australian birth certificate, Australian citizenship certificate, foreign passport or ImmiCard
        • an aviation reference number (ARN) – easy and free to apply online
        • your drone details – including the make, model, serial number, weight and type of drone
        • form of payment – either a Visa or Mastercard credit or debit card.

        https://www.casa.gov.au/drones/register

    • Don't register, it's another one of Australia's stupid ideas to create bureaucracy and waste money.

      • It will be compulsary to register all drones heavier than 250gm from 2020.

        • Any if people don't the system will fall over.

Do you think that the people who don't give a crap are going to register? The people that import cheap drones out of China for their children? The people that cause the problems are the ones who are least likely to register.

The registration system is unworkable and they won't be able to enforce it. If people refuse to register the system will be scrapped.

  • i thinks its an error, i can still order 999 mavic pro right now or the spark theres no way they got the stock

    • +1

definitely going to get cancelled. JB who sold these for years has 0 in stock, whereas somehow officeworks has 1000's? unlikely. Praying for a gift card!

      • Probably, doubt there will be a gift card.

    • Who cares, surely at 600+ they would at least compensate with some sort of voucher?

      • +4

surely at 600+ they would at least compensate with some sort of voucher

        why?
out of stock, refund ..job done

why do people assume a retailer needs to 'compensate' you for practically zero effort (its not like you even left the house) for what is most likely a pricing or stock error?

        • Either way it's no lose situation for us. So why not take a chance.. I meant if binning did honor that, maybe ow will too since they're both under wesfarmer..can only hope

  • I doubt there would be sufficient stock of DJI Mavic Pro's in Australia to fulfil the number of orders made today, even if it isn't a pricing error.

Someone in the fulfilment centre will be presented with a "WTF" moment when they arrive at work tomorrow morning.

    • +3

Maybe where they buy them from said look, if you can get 20k orders, we’ll give it to you for $500 a piece. Smart guy in the purchase dept says hey, let’s whack it on OzBargain, set the pickup/delivery date 3 week from now, giving us plenty of time to cash out the money and purchase/ship the drones at the excellent price.

    • +1

They've got the Air for $1000 "clearance" and that was a newer drone technically better camera, so the pricepoint might not be all that off. Remember this IS a 3yr old drone now. Stock levels however you make a good point on. Maybe they're refurbs?

      • surely they have to say they are refurbs if they are refurbs no?

        • Yup they do but I've seen refurbs go ~800 before. They basically look/feel new and are indistinguishable unless you know what to look for (specific serial range, old flight logs on drone etc).

      • Better camera, not a better drone

        • +1

all depends on the person , i have both of them and for me the mavic air kills the pro, better cam way smaller to carry ,its focus by itself , the pro you have to tap to focus and if u forget to tap u recording is just blurry ,and unless you really good with image settings the air as way better image out of the box

          • @hitman48: Exactly, depends on the person. The masses are willing to spend $1500 on the pro, so I guess that’s the answer for now
