Ah, traditional taxis, with their wide range of drivers, ranging all the way from distracted Indian guy talking into a bluetooth earpiece the entire time, or a surly old white guy who seems to resent his entire life, with absolutely nothing in between because as far as I can tell there's only two types.

Yeah nah, never giving my business to these people. If your journey is $15 they'll probably swear at you and if your journey is $30 you're better off taking uber/ola/DiDi.
