  • Hmm my 6 year old DX Racer is busted and I need a new chair. Was considering https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B07X1MXGZH/?coliid=I305OW4KBK96… or https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B07W944GFK/?coliid=I1Y356BV7EMC…

Thoughts on this compared to those?

please don't buy gaming chairs. It's a gimmick

      • +13

People always say this and then say to buy some $1000 executive chair because it's 'ergonomic'

Gaming chairs can be pretty comfy and good for the price

        • +8

Agreed. The real gimmick is "gaming" RAM and SSDs covered in RGB.

        • +1

I got a sidoo office chair from Amazon for 230. It is amazing compared with any gaming chair I have owned.

I hurt my back and that chair has been amazing for it. My back is better now and I couldn't go back to a gaming chair.

        • +1

The issue is that the cheaper ones are always PU leather which is just about guaranteed to wear out in a few years. A fabric IKEA Markus is still the best buy imo

      • +1

Buy a Secretlab Titan. Most comfortable office chair I've ever sat in. Used myriad "ergonomic" chairs for years, $1000+ things, but the Titan is far an away the best support and most comfortable I've ever used by a mile

        • Is yours the PU leather version? I heard it gets pretty warm and the leather may wear out after a couple of years. I'm contemplating on getting the Omega fabric

          • @potato11: Yeah, I've got the PU version, had it for a couple years without any issues though (and I'm in QLD, so it's pretty hot and humid here). Absolutely wish I had the fabric version, but they didn't have it when I bought mine

          • +1

@potato11: I am using Omega fabric.. pretty good chair tbf.

            • @neolivz: how long have you used the chair? any cons? still trying to justify the price

              • @potato11: want to get one as well since i saw an ad on facebook with a discount code, what price are you looking at?

                • @Epic CC: $599 in their official website. mind sharing the code?

                  • @potato11: i saw it two/three weeks ago as a facebook ad, i didnt screen capture it so i dont have it now sorry mate

              • @potato11: Cons price… It's pretty comfortable.. I can not say it's the best chair out there as I haven't tried many but I do use around 1-3 hours every day… If you are really big then Omega may not be ideal fit

        • The Titan has good build materials but it's still a race seat so not at all ergonomic for PC usage, for $260 I got a Herman Miller chair from a furniture liquidation warehouse and I'd never go back to race seats

          • @Agret: Used a couple of those at various offices, never liked them. It's sort of personal preference with chairs at the end of the day, but I much prefer the wider taller frame on the Titan

      • Hat's off to this lad

If you spend any decent amount of time on your chair. Say an hour or so. Get a proper chair that is good for your back!
      - needs to be the right size for you and your desk
      - no arm rests or removable ones
      - be able to recline slightly (5 degrees or so, not sure what's technically best lol)
      - lower back/lumbar support

      • Why no armrests?

        • Arms should hang naturally and desk should be at elbow height. Arm rests often mean you can't sit close enough to the desk and are often used to make up for an incorrect desk/chair height i.e. armrests too high means your shoulders are always hiked and you'll likely eventually have issues.

          • @dmac: Oh good to know thanks

I want to buy gaming underwear with RGB….

  • +10

rubbish padding, wear's extremely fast, waste of money.

  • +2

Listen to what your back is telling you from experience, that is always right. Not anyone above or bellow will help you.

    • +15

You should get your back checked if it starts talking.

      • +6

everything part of your body talks to you, just have to listen :)

        • +3

My ears are trying to talk to me but I can't hear what they're saying.

      • I am alright with talking back as long as it doesnt bite

    • Pretty hard to tell what your back is telling you. Comfort is not "good"; e.g. Slouching is often comfortable. Discomfort is not always bad; if you stay in good posture for too long you'll get sore. It means you need to get up and move.

So yeah. People above and below may help. But you surely won't.

    Bang good down under.

  • +1

Someone please point me towards a good chair that doesn't look like that and is actually ergonomic

    • +4

      Steelcase Think
      Herman Miller Aeon

    • Yeah I've got the Steelcase Leap and it's great. Had a Buro Metro before that and I thought that chair was massively overrated.

I've sat in a couple of these gaming chairs at some pc stores and they seem like trash to me - spend money and get something decent.

  • +1

What's the best (value) ergonomic chair? I tend to see ergonomic chairs at super scary prices, hoping someone can point me in the right direction.

fwiw gumtree/marketplace and patience to wait and watch for a while to get an idea of the price/quality ratio that suits you. and willingness to make some offers. after a while i snagged this beauty for $70 in as new condition, and there were a bunch of other ergonomic chairs that looked very decent that i think would have dropped/been negotiable down to this price range. people are more negotiable after their add has been sitting unloved for a while too.

    • +13

Depends on your budget and the material of your chair (leather vs fabric). Did some research on a couple of popular chairs:
      1. Ikea Markus - $229
      2. Buro Metro series - $300-$500
      3. Secretlab Omega/Titan - $550-$650
      4. Ergohuman Plus Elite V2 - $550-$650
      5. Steelcase Leap - $950
      6. Herman Miller - $1000+

Also, read that chairs in Officework are crap

    • +1

for $260 I got a Herman Miller chair from a furniture liquidation warehouse. Check Gumtree and you can find one.

      • was the furniture liquidation warehouse located in Melbourne ? I would like to know

        • +2

Yeah it's Canterbury Used Office Furniture. I also got a Kyocera Laser Printer from there while I was browsing and the guy gave me a $20 discount on it for buying it with the chair :) Buying third party toners it's super cheap to run.

Looks like they currently have a bunch of Herman Miller Mirra for $90 each which is a bargain and would destroy the OPs chair in terms of comfort and ergonomics - http://www.cuof.com.au/product/herman-miller-mirra-chair-6/

They've also got the black and white ones for $190 each

They have a ton of high quality desks and cabinets there too since it's all ex-office furniture which is really good if you wanna setup a home office, they had a couple of the big L shaped desks when I was in there.

          • @Agret: Thanks , what model did you get ?

    • +1

I have an adjustable stool from IKEA. Under$100. No back support so I'm forced to sit more properly. My back pain that i got from slouching in my office chair has disappeared for now

  • +6

Plastic leather, snigger snigger, chortle chortle.

  • Gaming chair will be a nice upgrade from my gaming stool 👌

    • That's better than my gaming mat

    • I have a raised desk, my gaming stool is awesome.

  • cool

  • +4

I got an office works executive chair 25 years ago for 400 dollars. I am still sitting in it right now. Daily use ever since. It no longer has gas and no padding in the arms. I won't buy these racing junk that all come from the same factory.

Fabric executive chair will be better than any fake leather crap from China any day

  • +5

Might seem cheap but you're paying for this through your back.

  • +3

I don't like paying for expensive chairs but the cheap plastic on these looks like will melt under the sun after an hour.

  • +1

Appears voucher is done, "used 50 times"

    • Well shit

    • +2

I have added more 100 times.

  • Yeah it's probably rubbish quality and gimmicky but probably also a very comfy chair and delivered for $90. Bargain, I say. Very tempted.

  • So is it made of PVC or leather?

    • Not real leather so PVC.

  • when does this deal end? im thinking about ordering one of these chairs from their site but im seeing alot of negative comments…

    • Has a coupon limit but I'm not sure when that ends.

The chair itself is fine. People are up in arms because it doesn't have real leather but given the very low price of course it's not going to have it.

  • Is there another promo code, this one don’t work
