They technically price-matched the wrong version.

Amazon was suppose to match the PlayStation Hits Version

    Better for the collectors.

Sorry for being a bit cynical on Amazon, I reckon they will still send the PlayStation Hits version. It's probably unlikely they have lots of non-PlayStation Hits version in stock.
Hope I am wrong and people actually get the ones without PlayStation Hits.

Still suggest people plan for the worst and expect the possibility to get the PlayStation Hits version.

Technically if they send the PlayStation Hits version, you can claim as 'item not as described'. =p

whats the difference besides the box?

      • I am curious too. Apart from the red banner, does it affect trade in value or second hand sale value?

      • I can only comment on Uncharted 4 (had the original version, sold it and later on bought the Playstation Hits version). The disc is the same (no PlayStation Hits written on the disc). The original version had a voucher for another game (That's You) from memory.

I doubt it affects the trade in value at EB. However, in the second hand market, it is likely people prefer the non-Playstation Hits version.

I'm always surprised how important having non PlayStation Hits/Nintendo Selects/Xbox Classics are to some gamers and how it can effect the resale value of a game. Makes me think it might be a collectors mentality. I hope it becomes a trend that eventually goes away and all games are just released with a single standard cover regardless of price drops or when after release they are sold.

@cheepo: As a recovered game collector I guarantee it is about the aesthetics.

At one point I had something like 3 copies of FF VII mostly because my first copy was a 'hits' version before I got my 'real' copy.

It's really silly honestly but it becomes habit.

            • @Telios: I thought as such. I've had a few people now on eBay wanting me to confirm the game I'm selling is per the image in the listing. Despite using an actual photo and not a stock image. Xbox One games haven't followed suit with budget title covers (at least to my knowledge) so hoping it remains that way.

These games mustn't be very good if they're at such low prices. /s in reference to the Nintendo thread

I wish that Persona 5 was added to Hits in the last round in Aus like it was elsewhere.

I want to play it, but even when on sale for $25, I'm like… Eh. I know it will go cheaper, and if I've waited this long already, what does it hurt to wait longer.

Tbh, even when it gets to $17, I'll end up waiting for PsPlus

    • Honestly, just play it. It's a great game, with at least 100 hours of content.

    • +1

Sounds like a painful way to live, if you wait for PS Plus (which will probably never happen), by that time you'll probably think to wait for P5: Royal, and then wait for that to go on sale…and the cycle continues…

$25 is brilliant value, it's one of the best games of the generation.

  • Amazing prices for anybody who've never played any of these great games!

  • They're matching Big W. Don't know if this is already posted.

  • Bought god of war at this price a couple months ago. So bloody impressed by it! Never saw myself getting into a hack and slash but it's gripped me!!

  • Crazy to think a game of GOW calibre is already $17. One of the best of the generation. Absolute bargain at that price. Amazing game.

    • +1

It would be crazy to think that if you are a Nintendo fanboy. They think good games should never drop in price, as if they're some sort of magic slow depreciating asset.

  • +1

    I just bought 3 games and I don't even have a PS4 yet. I guess I'll store it with my Eneloops …

  • Just noticed they've dropped many of these to $13.60 OP, if you'd like to update the post.
