  • Does anyone know if Vacuum sealer will seal any bag? I buy hops in bulk and want to just seal the bags they came in, rather than have to keep buying bags to transfer them in.

      The manual is here:

I don't have this sealer, but do have a different one which functions the same way.

The one I have will seal most bags, some might require 2 goes to get a good seal.

But if you wanted to vacuum and seal, then most regular bags don't work well.

The vacuum bags or rolls have grooves on the inside which allows the air to escape even when the plastic is tight against each other.

Also most bags are thinner than the vacuum bags so don't hold the vacuum.

    • Confirming commercial vacuum seal bags won't work with the home systems. We had a supply company on the floor below us at work so i went and had a chat about the home sealers with the guys (as i had the aldi one and i wanted cheap bags haha). Their explanation was the same as petestrash's.

I just wondering if people who previously bought Kogan brand products will buy again? For me I got burned 3x and vouch will never buy again.

I think most people see something is cheap at kogan, buy for the first time then regret disappointed and never buy again (from Kogan).

    I'm talking Kogan branded.

    • Which products did you buy?

I recently bought a microwave, works really well and very powerful, it has a grill function which is useless though.

Also bought a 3 in one stand mixer/grinder/blender. Stand mixer works great, blender is weak so only good for small amounts of things, haven't tried the meat grinder.

I haven't bought much Kogan branded stuff but the stuff I have done has been … as good as any other cheap shit from a box store I suppose.

The thing about sous vide is it relies on very tight temperature control which would make me hesistate before buying Kogan.

Some of their stuff like displays are pretty low quality using parts that were rejected for not meeting quality standards.

      • I haven't bought yet but you would think a sous vide machine is easy to get right, maintaining a water temperature shouldn't be difficult as well as the circulation part of it. I'd be a little worried about longevity, because even the good brands can fail after lots of use.
