260

Living Edge Richmond are having a relocation sale "As we are preparing to relocate to our newly designed showroom, you can save up to 60% on selected ex-display and floor stock from leading international brands Herman Miller, Walter Knoll, Muuto, e15, Vitra and more."

Limited stock on the Herman Miller items, I believe they only have 3 Embody (I already got one for $1,407, RRP $2,140). They have a number of Aeron base models appear that they quoted me $796 down from $1,680.

    Can they post to Sydney?

Not sure mate, I had to go pick mine up from the store. Never mentioned to me delivery or anything unfortunately.

  • I’ve got two Aeron chairs, and they’re brilliant. Best price I’ve ever seen for brand new stock.

    • +2

And yet, these are not brand new.

      selected ex-display and floor stock

You don’t call that brand new? It’s not like they would have been used or sat in frequently given their prices.

      • +1

I actually went in-store and there were a few ex floor stock, but it appeared a lot of the chairs I saw were in boxes/just pulled out of boxes so most likely you'll get a brand new one.

        • were you in there today? I might pick it up now!

          • @phatty: Went and got it yesterday, although the sale doesn't start until tomorrow. Might be worth giving them a call to inquire!

  • wow epic price for the aeron!

  • Can they post to Perth?

  • The Embody is probably the coolest looking and most comfortable office chair until you pay $250,000.

Very tempted to buy it to replace Steelcase Leap but the Leap will last another ten years.

  • Great price on both, I have the embody and while it is exceptional it could do with a little more padding on the base. The pixel support system is a little bumpy on the seat and is discernible but works very well on your back.

  • Would totally jump on an Embody if they shipped to Sydney

Just called up they said there aren't any Aeron base models for $796………….. She said none are at that price or even close for the sale.

    • +4

She probably purchased them all & is now setting up a IT start-up!

    • Hey, I've updated the title to reflect. I was quoted both prices in my image by a resident design consultant.

  • I wonder how much the Gufram Nest sofa is…

Was just quoted $1,110 for the base model Aeron, certainly not $796, so it seems they've changed their price.

  • +2

Thanks op. Just picked up an embody for $1400. They have a few more in stock

  • +1

I just went to the store and they aren't honouring $796 anymore…

  • +1

Went to the store and the only embody units that are left are the new model in black for 1.9k (down from 2.9).

Thanks for letting us know. Don't know where the aeron price came from, but it turns out it was incorrect and only leads ppl to go in with false expectations about prices/bargains that dont exist or are quickly removed once they are selling through too fast.

I am always hesitant about Living Edge since I placed an order for an item with a 3-month lead time, called the next day to change to a different item but was told 'Nope, it is now in production on the factory floor'… Geez they must have a direct line to the manufacturing floor overseas, halted ALL other production and made mine…

  • Thanks OP, got the Aeron C for under $1K. Still an absolute steal for this chair, can't wait to turf out the existing piece of crap chair I've been using. Have had back issues for years in that thing.

When I left they still had about half a dozen Aeron B and another half dozen Aeron C. There were about 3 Embody chairs marked at $1999 but you could definitely negotiate that price down. Those ones still had plastic around the legs so these chairs are essentially brand new.

    • how much did you end up paying for the chair? did they actually honour $796?

      • No, that price appears to have been an error. Ticketed sale price was about $1350 and RRP $1790, but they were happy to sell for $975 so an $800+ saving. Very happy with that.

  • +1

Called regarding Aeron B and they advised price starts from $1,260 (price ranges depending on the condition of each chair of the display stock). They are unsure what the $796 price was about.

Seems like a common practice these days. Marketing "Price errors" to raise awareness and boost foot traffic into stores. Pretty pathetic tactics that should be punishable.

    • +1

Absolutely agreed. In other countries this would be totally despised. However in Australia maybe because we are so used to rip off price, people would say things like, well at xxx price, it's still a good price (and seemingly forgive all the dodgy tactics). This would only encourage this.

  • If anybody does go today/next few days please take some photos of items/prices :)

Also, going through the thread it looks like marked prices aren't the final price, so aim at 60% of the usual rrp prices guys :)

There were plenty of Aeron's in Size B, and a few Size C, but I think someone bought the last Size A.

I managed to get a Size B for $1000, which is a pretty good price imo c.f. retail. This model was only used by the store staff in their offices, but in very good condition; top of the chair looks great, only wear is around the wheels. There were 2-3 left at this price/condition.

Other, basically brand new models are going for anywhere between $1150-$1300 from what I saw.

Keen to chuck out my crappy Officeworks racer chair.

  • FYI,I just came back from the store.

    There were few size B left selling at $1000, the condition is quite good with a standard warranty;
But it's not much different in price compared with the brand new one.

New one is 30% off from RRP.
The embody is $1498 and Aeron is $1183 which I think it's a pretty good price.

    • Just wondering if you had to negotiate or was the embody just set at 1498?

      • +2

No negotiation, they just offered 30% off from RRP with free delivery.
It's new stock from their warehouse, so the delivery time is 2 weeks.

        • Cool, I might head in and take a look, thanks!

    • Thanks for the feedback. Good prices but they seem to go up/down depending on which salesman you talk to. That's a shame. The free delivery is always welcome.

      • +1

Yeah went in again got 5% off seems very hit/miss depending on which salesman you get. Can you provide a receipt for the 1498 with free delivery? @gny2004

        • +1

Just got one for $1530 ($32 for delivery). Went to the person on the left side of the desk to get it.

In other sales, seemed like the Cosm mid back (floor stock) is on sale currently for $1,000 (fixed arms), and a high back from Sydney is ~1700.

The Mirra range was around 890 (no arms) to 1100 (adjustable arms)

EDIT: Also just to note, if the price doesn't have a permanent marker line through it and a new price written, it probably isn't final. I overheard them talking to someone about it.

          • @chorong: Received the embody - didn’t come in a full cardboard box but essentially new - still had plastic on the wheels and armrests. Manufacture date was in July 2019

            • @chorong: Considering I missed this sale, do you think it’s still worth going in and negotiating a price?

              • @exit: You can always give it a go. Last time I went in asking for a discount, they told me to wait until they were moving so they're generally pretty open to discussion and giving you some more information when they know about it
