    No refurb / replaced battery?

5 year old ones are going to be shot.

  • And which edition/version of Win 10 - assume Home?

    • Some of them are home and some of them are Pro

Good price for a decent laptop? What a load of BS. This deal really needs to be negged

This listing is far better value and only $209 (with P200SAVE) with a i7 (quad core) not i5 (dual core), higher screen resolution and 256GB SSD delivered from Workventures.

Cheers. Just got one as a desktop replacement

    • No longer available

      • Workventures usually add more stock on a daily basis.. Save the seller and set up notifications when they list new items.

There are still 13 of them in stock. Thanks.

No stock of the other model is what they are referring to.

Your 13 will still be in stock for a while yet

          • @chumlee: I cannot see how the $250 i5 can be considered a bargain.

The $209 Workventures unit only requires a 4GB RAM update ($30ish) to be on par with the OP specs. The units are easy to open (3 screws). So for around $240 you get

            • Much better screen resolution
            • 50% more SSD space
            • Quad core vs Duo core
            • i7 vs i5
      • Damn - somebody bought 5… When I clicked into it there were 9 available… Answered a call now all gone.

        • +2

Someone always seems to buy 5 if you check their past history. Set up notifications for the seller Workventures and there is a 50/50 chance they will list another 10 tomorrow. You will notice if you do look at their sold listings they add almost every weekday.

@[Deactivated]: What is the battery life like?

            • +1

@slowFTL: I usually plug in the laptop. When running off batteries I get at least a couple of hours if not more. Battery life is hard to determine on used items.

    • Thanks for the heads up my brother needs a new Uni laptop.

    • I forgot that the old mobile i5s were still dual core. No way would I pay $250 for a 2nd hand dual core! And with that tiny screen as well.

    • Yeah benchmarks scores are over double with that CPU. That deal makes this one look crap.

Kinda rare to see them at this price. Nice find.

Sorry, but for $49 more, I feel this is much better value! It's the computer I'm using right now.

(I do also have an old E5540, so very similar to the one on offer here)

Thanks for the recommendation. Just ordered one. Renewd have a promo on currently - used the code "SPRING" and got $120 off, giving total price of $229 delivered.

      • Nice! I paid $300 for mine and am very happy with it. The only issue is that the back of the screen has a rubber coating on it that's extremely fragile, so doesn't look great as soon as you scratch it somewhere. If you can live with that, all good!

      • @Schlep, which one are you referring to? Looking for a budget laptop. Thank you.

        • I think he might have gotten the i3. I'd suggest the i5 (it's what I got).

        • Apologies for late reply. It was the "Acer Aspire S5-371T Ultrabook - Intel Core i3/128GB SSD/8GB RAM/Win 10".

After using it for a month, I can say it does what I need it to do. Which is office tasks (excel& word), surfing the internet. Screen has a few marks on it which are only noticeable when black is being displayed (or it is turned off), back of lid (i.e other side of screen) had a lot of marks/scratches but this doesn't bother me. Licensed version of Windows 10. There was the usual bloatware, but managed to uninstall most of it (O365 trial, McAfee trial, etc). It is a very light laptop, so easy to carry around. Charger tip is not a standard size, so don't lose the power pack. All in all a good basic laptop.
