  • not much use for people in Melbourne… :P

    • Unless you can guarantee the pipes going to your tap are clean, even the cleanest water will not get to your cup the same as when they were treated.

    • Still has Chlorine to clean out your insides! ;-)

  • Good price,

BIG W is selling 6 filters for $43.84.

One thing to consider regarding the filters is that K-Mart sells a generic brand filter that is completely compatible with Brita Maxtra for about $4. (2 for $8 from memory). I was stoked when I came across them.

    http://shop.kmart.com.au/product/pack-2-universal-filters/10…

So instead of buying these just for the filter, go into K-Mart and get the generic one instead. I havent found any other stores that sell them because the other retailers are making too much money gouging customers on the cartridges. It fits in the same category as printer ink imo.

Filters in this deal work out to be $6.66, Generic filters from K-Mart are $4.

    • nice find…the problem is are the Homemaker generic ones work as well as Brita filters?
$4 is too expensive in my opinion for a Homemaker filter. Fair price should be say $1 or $2max, since their stuff are so cheap …and charging $4 for something that last 1 month is a bit expensive.
But still…might give it a try to see if the water taste the same or not.

Both simply contain activiated charcoal. I would be suprised if you noticed any difference.

  • I bought this jug a while ago… the filter however didn't taste quite right… anyway I just put tap water straight into the jug now without the filter and leave int he fridge to chill.

    • In that case did you need the jug in the first place? :)

    • i have better idea! why don't you buy bottled water for your (filter-less) Brita jug? i guarantee it will taste even better :)

    • Did you read the instructions? You're supposed to rinse the filter 3 times I believe, before the water is drinkable.

Anyway, I own one of these and it's great. Slim enough to fit in the side door of the fridge, filters quickly and tastes good! What more could you want.

  • Anybody know how these filters remove the Chlorine but leave the Fluoride?

    • To answer my own question - Dr Google sayz - Fluoride is a negatively charged ion and does not react with the activated carbon in the BRITA Filter Cartridge.
But BRITA will reduce the poitively charged Chlorine ions by upto 99%

  • I think this deal has been going for a while if you cared to search OzB. Still, a pretty good deal if you didn't mind the colours or just bought it for the filters.

  • Good deal. Thank you very much.
