great speakers, great value, and great post!

  • They's some nice looking speakers.

  • The S3000 pro sound stage is wide and treble heavy. Bought it anyway as I believe the treble can be tune down.

“Monitor” mode for the DSP would be neutral, then you could adjust tone controls to your liking.
Be aware that due to the DSP, changes to tone control being reflected in the sound will have a slight delay.

  • I have received mine today. Heavy unit and seems to be of very good quality. I don't think it is a looker. A bit less so like Sony'S over the top design ethic that you see at JB Hifi.

It sounds surprisingly good. The bass goes really low. I could feel the vibration of the sub to my kitchen table and into my hand at 60% volume.
The sound stage is wide. Pretty good imaging. The treble is a bit high for my taste and I have to dial it down a bit.
So far I felt the Dynamic mode with treble dial down to -2 sounds pretty interesting.

I have a Dynaudio speaker with the bass larger than the S3000pro by 1cm but could not reproduced the low rumble solidly that the S3000pro could. Probably I do not have a $8000 amp to drive it. The Edifier came with its own tailored power amp.

    • Thanks for sharing.

The Edifier came with its own tailored power amp.

Yes the appeal of modern active-speakers with optimised-internals such as the Edifier, guaranteed to sound how the manufacturer intended.

Another tip: keep the grills on to soften the edge of treble.

  • After further listening. I love the bass coming from these speakers, Dire Straits come alive :). All the review microphones could not capture the experience that I could hear. It is just joyful. You have to hear to believe. To me, the sub is very good already.

    • Good to hear.
I think Edifier really became competitive with their audio-quality with the S2000Pro & S3000Pro.
R-series (R1280DB / R1700BT) were good value, but still closer to “media” speakers than high-end speakers.
IMO with the Pro-series they are really bridging the gap.

  • S3000Pro is back in-stock with same number of units as before, and cheaper for both links @ $647.24 & $653.72 Delivered.
(was out-of-stock within 3 hours of when deal was originally posted)

S2000Pro is also slightly cheaper for both links, now starting at $438.28 Delivered.

All prices in deal have been adjusted to reflect new prices.

  • How do these compare to the S350db? I just purchased the S350db but would love to know if there is that sizeable upgrade I may exchange them.

    • First of all S350DB is half the cost of S3000Pro.
In my opinion the Pro-series are a big step up from the rest of the Edifier range.

The S350DB will have larger amounts of bass with its stand-alone subwoofer, and the S3000Pro will have tighter bass of higher quality, and likely the rest of the frequency range will be of higher fidelity (mids, treble).

I would recommend the S350DB if you are going to use for cinema / movies, or are a bass-head.
S3000Pro if you are interested in detailed higher quality music recordings / masters / files (lossless) and critical listening.

      • Thanks Marge. I have it set up for movies so I think I'll stick with the S350db, appreciate your response!

        • I think you made the right choice.
A few months ago another user commented how there was a lack of mid-range in S350DB.
Although S350DB is much more bass heavy than other models, it is a simple case of using the tone-controls to adjust the balance of the sound-signature.
The Subwoofer on S350DB together with the bright sounding titanium-dome tweeters will make the sound-signature V-shaped by default (some may prefer this sound).

If you are experiencing a similar issue with lack of mid-range, it is a try slightly turning down treble & bass tone controls, to bring out the midrange, then increasing overall volume to achieve similar bass levels as before.
I also suggested making sure the bookshelf speakers are at the same height as your head, by putting them on books / stands etc to make them the correct height.

          • @thebadmachine: Biggest issue I have is finding some of the dialogue muffled unless I turn it to full volume. I'm not sure if that's just a problem with stereo sound as opposed to having a dedicated centre channel which makes dialogue clear, but I'm too new to audio to really know. I haven't tweaked any of the bass and treble yet so I'm not sure!

            • @[Deactivated]: Ok. Also make sure your TV / player / streamer is set to output ‘stereo’ sound instead of 5.1 surround (dolby) in the audio settings. This will help to clear up the sound, as when set to 5.1 surround most of the dialogue is sent to the centre channel, which will be missing from your S350DB.
The S350DB is a 2.1 stereo system, so device (TV / player) audio output should be set to stereo.

              • @thebadmachine: Thanks mate, will see what I can do!

                • @[Deactivated]: Sorry Marge can I trouble you with three last questions:
                  1. My TV has a the following option:"S/PDIF Mode: Use this item to select the S/PDIF audio output type.
Available options: Off, Auto, PCM." which of these modes should I have on?
                  2. Should I use the autovolume feature as well or would this reduce the dynamic range?
                  3. I have an android smart TV box (Mi Box if you've heard of it) which I run all my multimedia through (Netflix, Stan, kodi etc). It has the following settings as well:
Dynamic range control: Off, Rf or Live
                  Sound output: PCM or Auto
                  Dts sounds : 0% to 100%

I can't find any clear guide online so if you knew anything to point me in the right direction I'd be eternally grateful! Thank you

                  • @[Deactivated]: Set both the TV & Mi Box to “PCM”.
Stereo is also known as ‘PCM stereo’.
Leave all other settings as they were.
