We just booked Qantas flights from Melbourne to Johannesburg then Cape Town to Melbourne for 2 people for less than $2050 for June next year. Very happy with that price.
Melbourne or Sydney to Johannesburg, South Africa Return from $1099 (18 Jan - 20 Mar, 20 Apr - 15 Jun 2020) @ Qantas

Awesome, congrats.
I bless the rains down in Africa
Gonna take some time to do the things we never had …
Blessed post
Where Qantas has competition (international) the fares are reasonable, where there is none (domestic) they're exorbitant. And no, Virgin isn't competing, it's a duopoly. Forget Tiger .. they're a joke .. :>( .. !!
Not a lot of competition from Aus to SA. SA Airlines fly from Perth, thats about it.
Agreed. SA is only an 11 hour flight from Perth and it still can cost up to $1500, and there are rarely any sale prices. To get to anywhere else in Southern Africa costs an arm and a leg. $1900 to Zambia at the moment with SAA, and it's only 13 hours total flight time!
Really need more carriers to fly to SA and drive the price down.
I flew earlier in the year from Sydney to Cape Town with Qantas and we paid about $1120 per adult ticket and I thought that was a steal. This is an even better deal. Better not tell the wife about this one.
Bragpost?
Wow, cool post! Thanks for sharing!
OP, how associated are you?
Cant be too much otherwise he would use staff travel
I think i paid this one way last year. Good deal.
Qantas release minimal business rewards seats for this route. Managed to get Virgin (flying SAA via perth) business with points there. What points and taxes did you pay? Booking is only thru call centre I presume. Interested to know, as compared with SQ flights.
i think it was circa 100k per person, one way. mel-per-jhb-cpt
i dont recall the taxes but historically virgin were much better than qantas with those.Thanks. Might ring to see what it is ex HBA.
Could you tell us how you felt some other times you booked flights?
Some sale fares at other times too but not quite as low.
Highly recommend self drive through Kruger NP
Need more details on the title.
