What make of HDD inside?
+1, cheapest by far.
Rather the reliablity of the WD over this.
I've had several WD's fail; they certainly don't have a perfect record inj my book. Plus WD loves to load bloatware and intrusive partitions on their drives.
Online only or in-store?
I also would like to know. I'd rather pick one up over the weekend and move files from my laptop…
To answer myself, YES, (limited) stock in-store at the same price. Probably an idea to call your local store to confirm stock prior to rocking up.
Yep was going to answer my own Q too.
In store ok, but much less stock than other brands.
yeah good price for usb 3.0
USB powered 2.5" equals a pretty good deal.
Nt
Can someone make a page for a collections of ozbargain's unpublished comments? ;-)
everytime i saw "jv 3 hours 8 min ago Comment unpublished. (Inappropriate)" i really want to know what the comments was!! LOL
He accused the hard drive's circuity of collusion in a Zionist conspiracy set on raising prices on green prawns
nice stuff with good price
Does anyone know, how much is the warranty and if they are good value for money?
I was waiting for a deal for Seagate flex usb 3
Good deal. Other prices for USB 3 2.5" 1TB are ~$120 (MSY, CPL, OW, Centercom), and JB include delivery. This doesn't relate to this product but does the seagate flex looks like marketing scam where they claim its USB 3 but you have to buy the USB 3 connector for an extra ~$20.
Nah that looks right,
I've only seen 500Gb usb 3.0 included with the segate goflex.
Goflex range are pretty durable, i have one and put it through a lot of bumps and it hasn't played up like some of the WD ones that i have had in the past
what hard drive is inside it?
does this use 2.5" HDD or 3.5" HDD?
any power adapter needed? or plain USB powered?
brand of the HDD inside?
Portables are 2.5"
thx mate!
Good price for the fastest USB 3.0 Portable HDD. I might pick one up since the reviews are looking good for this hard drive.
Anybody know the drive inside and have some rep on the brand?
I think, its WD or Samsung. But I am not sure. They have mixed reviews, which I have read. Bad thing they say is the cover, which looks cheap. Rest all good.
I am also confused to buy this or wait for any other big brand sale.
Might just wait….they can only get cheaper
I have one of these, highly recommended. Paid $110 about 2 months ago.
DO WE HAVE VERIFICATION OF THE BRAND OF HDD INTERNAL TO THIS CASE
Anything except WD is ok.
too good a deal to wait for a reply…. purchased.
will post the brand of hdd when it arrives.
Not sure. My computer recognises it as a "BUFFALO HD-PCTU3 USB DEVICE", and I'm not willing to sacrifice warranty by prying the case open to check further.
who knows how many years warranty of this one?
Rear of the box claims 3 year warranty.
Officeworks now have a 1TB drive also for $98. Wester Digtal brand, there was pile of them in the clearance bin, Officeworks Richmond (VIC) store.
They are usb 2.0
Using this on USB2.0, I am transferring about 15gb and it is sub 1MB/sec.. quite slow is this normal?
laptop with or without power, also are you using a usb 2.0 port
Desktop with power @ 1.75MB/s now. doing the conversion online 480Mb/s = 60MB/s. 1.75MB/s at the moment is no where near 60MB/s. Yes I am using USB 2.0 port.
Ohh sorry for my assumption :) that is no good. one large file or many small?
Are you using the cable that came with the hdd or one that was laying around?
1.88MB/s now. Around 8-10 large files. Yeah I am using the cable. I haven't tested the USB 3.0 speeds yet but will do after this slow process. Possibly because windows USB2.0 files transfer speeds vs macs USB2.0 transfer speeds are inferior.
I've get poor performance on very small files, as low as 1kb/s, however larger files appear to go around 20MB/s+. In my case, it's probably my laptop (hibernated daily w/o reboot for months, using SuperCopier2 for file transfers).
I figured out the reason now. I connected the hard drive directly to the computer without and extension cord and the speed is now min 25MB/s. I guess an important note is that to get best speeds used the supplied cable and connect directly to the computer itself.
Grabbed one… On my Intel Core i5 desktop, moving 10 GB+ of AVIs around:
For USB3, that's via a NEC USB 3.0 controller off my ASUS P7P55D-E PRO motherboard. Sweet!
Starting backing up 500 GB+ of crap on my computer today. USB3 speeds dropped to around 45 MB/s average when mixing in files and folders of random sizes. Bugga…
Finally got one :) . Hope, its a good decision.
well, he didn't post it so not many can see.
