Awesome. Can I also borrow some robust staff ?

  • Anyone know how much they cost per hour if your move goes over 5 hours?

    • $135/hr Monday to Friday, $145/hr Saturdays. Anything greater than 8 hrs rental and its $185/hr

That is extortionate… I guess gather up everyone and do one move with the truck with all the big and bulky items. Then do $49 no birds ute rentals for everything else?

        • That includes two removalists as well so good chance you’ll be done in under < 5 hours.

Wow that is alot, think ill stick with getting a 4.5tone truck for about $100 a day.

Looks dodgy. Lets face it, the whole "moving" industry is dodgy.

You have to give all your details on a form, then, "in 2-3 days", a salesman phones you to say that day has already been booked, but he can offer you a great discount on another truck.

Moving always takes longer than you think. You can rent a truck for under $100 for 24 hours from Hertz, etc. What do these guys charge?

The industry is super dodgy. The fact that so many charge an hourly rate starting from when they leave and return back to the depot is so shonky. In my last move, the movers vanished for about 45 minutes while travelling to the new property, and still tried to bill me for the time. So many scummy operators out there.

  • It would be good for the purchases of a new couch or fridge ect to pick it up so you don't have to pay the delivery charge.

Otherwise if you are moving house, if the distance isn't too far and can have a few people to help load and unload quickly then you hopefully can get all the big stuff moved in 5 hours

This would've come in handy a month ago -.-

If it's for free why not just use it to go shopping or a nice long drive in the country?

    • Because you can't go anywhere far and back in 5 hours?

  • To all the haters:
    1) Great for gumtree purchases
    2) Can be used once per day! That's a lot of free time to move a house, if you don't need to do it as urgently as possible you can transfer in the morning then pack/unpack in the afternoon.

I just call up a bunch of mates. Bonus points if they have a large car/ute. Otherwise a bunch of mates and a large truck does the same job too.

Once job done, massive booze up/bbq/restaurant visit.

  • Look like there is only one "Alinta Energy truck" servicing all movers in the state.
And that only one customer can book it per day.
Hope it's a good discount on the other trucks because chances of getting a booking on the one free truck seem slim
