Breville ESP8 expresso coffee machine - The Goodguys $99 (RRP$200)

80

This Breville stainless steel unit 15 Bar pump pressure is one I have had for 3 years and its still going strong. I am enjoying a cup from it as I write this.

Can often buy at Kmart/BigW for around $150 and sometimes as low as $129, but $99 is real cheap.

It rated very highly in consumer tests by a local organisation and was rated best buy. (this organisation does like to be named so I wont) but I can back this finding up with the constant complements on the quality of my coffee served at home.

The Goodguys have it on sale this weekend. It was in our local paper and I checked some other out of town Goodguys stores and they have them as well.

Check your local store online, go to main site, then your local store look under kitchen appliances small. It may be listed - or call the store to find out.

This is from the East Maitland store website

  • I have had for 3 years
That explain why it's $99. But I don't think 50% off RRP for a 3 yrs old machine is cheap enough.

    • We are not talking high tech here - it works. The consumer magazine later in two tests, rated newer and more expensive machines and probably for the first and second times in its history, put a postscript on the other tests and said consider this specific unit as the best value even though it didn't fit the test criteria on price or "features".

To me the best feature on a coffee machine is better tasting coffee. Dials ,displays, face recognition, coffee bean analysis etc on machines that cost $1000 plus still gave poorer tasting coffee according to the test results.

After all that, I do agree everyone is totally right to have their own sense of beans, values and bargains. :-)

      • I agree Pete… My better half also bought breville mixer which apparently released on the market for like 5 years ago, and yet, still on the most dept. store shelf up until this moment.

  • Breville ESP8 is an upgraded version of ESP6. I believe it came out last year. I've also have one (paid $129 on special) & am vary happy with it. I use quality burr grinder & fresh (not supermarket) coffee and the shots are great. For $99 it's an absolute bargain. You'd have to spend close to $200 to get comparable machine.

  • Hi,

    I've checked the site. It's $129, not $99 :S

    • Yep, considering the weekend finished yesterday, thats very possible - Long weekend bargains are just that. You need to get up in time to get the deal… thats why its marked expired.
