          Great, another wanna be lawyer.

if they are deceitful as you have claimed, why are they handing out $250 gift cards for a genuine pricing error?? They can easily rely on their T&Cs to put this to bed and not have to honour anything at all. They don’t have any obligation to fulfil anything as it’s a genuine pricing error. They have done nothing deceitful.

Seriously, tell me which company that has made a pricing error stuff up and actually handed out $250 gift cards to each customer that missed out? Most companies hand out a $10 or even $0

        • You can have an opinion, but incorrectly interpreting the legislation is not an opinion. It’s just ignorance.

    • So you’re not accepting the $250 gift voucher then?

    • +3

Just for the record, I did not get the deal (neither voucher or drone), but kudos to Bunnings for a whole lot more graceful conduct than Qantas Frequent Flyers's Sony A7 where people who did not get the camera, did not get any voucher, also did not get refund on the overpriced 2000 points top up. Even worse, their price was not as obvious a price mistake as Bunnings, and QFF had nothing to lose as no Paypal fee involved! Thumb up to Bunnings, middle finger to Qantas Frequent Flyers from me.

      • Oh did you miss out on placing an order?

        • Being in WA means by the time I wake up, the early morning deals like this are already ozbargained :-)

    • So have you received a $250 gift card from Bunnings? If so, are you planning on keeping it, and then also taking legal action? That’s a bit of a dick move. Maybe just return the gift card.

    • One solution would be to stop being a fecking whinger and get on with your life…

  • To Feeksi, no one here is doubting Bunnings making a genuine mistake. Which you must prove otherwise to get remediation. Anyway, take them to court if you still think we are all wrong. They have taken the honourable role of paying for this mistake on a first come bases.

    • Excuse me? We are not the ones whinging.

    • +3

@Feeksi. Maybe have a read of this.

      https://legalvision.com.au/when-do-retailers-have-to-honour-…

None of the information you copied and pasted applies in this context. There’s no multiple pricing displayed, no misleading claims and advertising, no false or misleading statements, and no deception. The bottom line is, it was an isolated product incorrectly priced, and Bunnings had the option of following their store policy and had every right to just provide refunds only. But instead, they decided to honour what they could (based on supplier stock availability), and provide the rest of the customers with $250 gift cards (with full refund as well).

Also, let me ask you this. If an item retails for around $1999 everywhere, but one website was showing $298, wouldn’t a reasonable person pick up on the fact the pricing isn’t quite right and may possibly be in fact an error? It was 85% off for goodness sakes!!!!

Arguing with Bunnings head office and demanding the drone be honoured does not help your case. They are not in the wrong and have tried their best to rectify the situation. They may in the end just give it to you just so you’d stop calling and harassing them, but it doesn’t mean you are right about the law. It is people like you that ruin the generosity shown by others. Don’t be a self entitled douche.

  • Anyone received the drone so far? Or it's just being fulfilled and everyone waiting for the confirmation email to pickup.

    • +1

My online order was for postage, but it hasn’t been updated yet saying it’s been posted.

  • Paid by card, no refund yet.

  • I paid by bank CC. It was preauthorised.

I guess it expires today and the charge is no longer there.

Bunnings didn't have to do anything just let the preauthorisation expired by itself.

Lesson learn next time pay by PayPal. Lol

    • +1

Bunnings seem to be taking forever to release the PayPal refund as well though. In my case, I got a notification from PayPal that Bunnings issued a refund for both of my orders, skip to today and it still says that the refund is 'pending' in PayPal.

      • For me I no longer have proof of purchase. Since the pre auth is gone and I didn't get confirmation email or anything.

At least PayPal u get confirmation email.

        Then
Y haven't contacted me to offer voucher or anything.

Just got a call from Bunnings, I am getting a drone hurray!
I ordered around 7.36 am AEST.
Previously store called me and cancel the order and I got my refund couple of days ago. But now customer service called me and told me that it was an error to cancel the order. Processed a new order through online payment and got a new order email. She said it will take a week to come to my local store.

    • WD but the whingers on here just got some more fuel :)

    • +3

Congrats, Ilandariya17. Since it is a bigger batch of drone order than usual, expect that it may take longer than normal. Since you locked in a drone, it is time to search for a bargain of Mavic 2 Fly more kit and U3 sd card:D

    • Congrats Ilandariya17!

    • Wow, that's different. @Feeksi must be kicking themselves right now.

      • Why would @Feeksi be kicking him/herself right now?

        • He's whined and cited the law and seems to have gotten nowhere, while others were just respectable and got what they wanted.

          • +1

@YellowKnight: I hope the customer experience lead from Bunnings would give him an experience he’ll never forget ;)

    • Exact same thing happened to me!

      • Wait, what??!!!

        • The same as Ilandariya17. Except I received a paypal refund notice via email this morning which made me very sad. About 2 minutes later Bunnings called to say that they had cancelled my order by accident as I was one of the lucky ones to receive a drone, so she took my cc info and processed the order. I originally ordered at 7:37am NSW time.

          Talk about an emotional rollercoaster!

          • @cv05: It doesn't matter if it's NSW time really if they are saying there fulfilled X amount from each state.

            • @YellowKnight: That's true, but it might help people in NSW at least to know the time frames. I haven't seen anyone get a drone who ordered after 7:40am.

  • FYI, those who are still keen on a Mavic 2 Zoom at realistic prices:
    JB Hifi $1999
    DJI store $1799
    Amazon AU Prime $1,779.63
Amazon gray import seller (free delivery) $1509

    • $1799 on dji website doesn’t include the remote controller. The $1999 does

      • You are right scratch that. I am sure the Amazon ones do as they have the model code DJIMV2ZOOM which is the normal retail package that includes the remote.
Or, wait till next week or so when there will be a flood of Mavic 2 Zoom's hitting Gumtree/EBay ;-)

    • OzBargainers never pay at realistic prices

  • Anyone still got the link to the poll on drone orders? I'm interested to see the numbers plus I'm sure there are people unaware of it.

It's currently at approx 8% of people who got a drone.

      • That seems awfully low if they fulfilled X amount of order for "each state"

        • I'm confused. If you don't know what X equals, how can you be surprised?

          • @cv05: Let's say 8% of orders actually got a drone. Between 6 or so states that's only about 2% of orders.

  • i got mine today too. thanks everyone for the update.

  • -1

they called me this afternoon and offer me a drone for $298

    • What state are you in? Did you get the GC already?

    • give them my number

  • +1

Looks like I am the only one who has just received refund only….no drone …no GC :( but kudos to bunning for honouring so many orders

    • +1

Give them a call, I spoke to someone today who said some of the orders just kinda fell into the abyss, which is why I didn't get any Bunning email. They asked that I send my proof of purchase (Paypal)

      • Oh ok….I do got the order confirmation email…will they accept that? Also which number you called?

        • +1

1800 797 586 is the number I called, and I had to quote my Bunnings order number which starts with W, the order confirmation email may be enough, but just worth talking to the Bunnings agent

  • Anyone who ordered in-store / over the phone to store receive a drone?

If they cancel your in-store order, do they refund you remotely or ask you to come in?

Anyone order in-store and received no call?

    • +1

In store order. They called a couple of hours later to say it's a pricing error. Physically went to store for refund later that day.

  • +1

Didn't think it would be honoured, checked and it's been fulfilled!
Cheers OP & Bunnings, great result…

    • Great news, congratulations…

just wondering how did you check? I paid for 2 and I only receive an email and no news on the other 1…

      • +1

Checking my Gmail to confirm the amount was repaid I received the email mentioning the price and that they will on this occasion honour it . 😃

  • Has everyone's Paypal refund actually come through now? Or have people's been stuck in Pending?

    • I still haven't received my refund. Payed with Visa debit.

      • I emailed Bunnings but no reply. Not sure if they actually reply to emails or are just backlogged.

        • Think positive….they may be sending drone to you 😉

    • Just received mine via paypal.

    • My PayPal refund is still pending

    • Mine is still pending

      • Have you received a voucher?

  • Same here Paypal refund is still pending

    • Not sure if I should call them or sit back, be patient, and wait.

      • Me too, also waiting…seems ridiculous tbh

        • Just got mine finally through

  • someone commented that they may just be waiting on the pre-authorisations to self-terminate.
There was also a comment to wait until Thursday (today), However as that's the 7th day, it may release overnight for Friday.

I read somewhere that (dependant on type - there are several) a pre-authorisation can last 7 days, then should self-release.

However.. this may no longer be possible??

  • +1

I emailed Customer Support and they asked me to email them my Paypal receipt and they will follow up on the voucher for me, she said i will get one so i would definitely email them as i don't think they could find my order.

  • I got my refund today and I paid via paypal. It comes as 'Return Paypal BUNNINGSGRO'. Shouldn't be too far off

  • Does the gift card have to be used in one shot? Say if you buy a $100 item, will they give the remainder as a $150 gift card?

    • Terms. Can only be used once with maximum change $9.95. It is already a gift card.

  • +1

Has anyone actually received a drone?

    • Will do in a minor, on the way to pick it up now. I think I may have been the first to order, I think I was the first to receive confirmation and I seemed to receive the Bunnings email about getting the drone result as well.

  • So I've been notified that my order didn't even make it to their ordering system even though I had a payment invoice number and a Paypal receipt email.

I can only assume the people who got the drone are the ones who got a confirmation email from Bunnings. Either way, Bunnings needs to work on their online system before widely releasing it to the public if errors like this are going to occur.

    • Did they offer u a gift card?

I think bunnings are very strict now.
Only those in their ordering system and received confirmation will get a gift card if they can't give u a drone.

So for those who haven't heard from bunnings most likely u won't.

Since they don't have your order.

      • Well apparently a Paypal email confirmation with a Bunnings invoice number does not confirm it is in their ordering system. The invoice number needs to end in -1 for it to have hit the ordering system.

        • So it seems bunnings isn’t giving $250 gift card to all orders. It seems those that didn’t get an email confirmation after ordering are not guaranteed to receive a gift card. No email confirmation means it either didn’t even hit the system, or have been deleted off the system. I think it’s coming to light that Bunnings has drawn a line and not offering gift cards to everyone that ordered and missed out on the drone. That’s sad

          • @Ebaygiftcards: Depends on what you mean by email confirmation since there are Bunnings confirmations and Paypal confirmations

            • @YellowKnight: I’m referring to Bunnings confirmation email. Did you receive both?

PayPal confirmation only means you’ve made a payment, but doesn’t necessarily mean your order is in their system. Which is why they can decide not to provide you a gift card if they claim they cannot find the order on their system (or they were automatically/manually deleted it as it doesn’t have the ‘-1’ in the order number). This made me think - even though they may have received thousands of orders, I don’t think the majority of customers would have received anything at all.

Yes this price error and honouring certain orders plus giving gift cards out is costing them a bit of money, but I don’t think it’s as much as what everyone is speculating.

          • @Ebaygiftcards: Yup
That seems to be the case.

        • This is correct; their system crashed and those orders via paypa that did not receive an official confirmation from Bunnings were never registered in their systems. It likely shows on your account on you Bunnings profile but that is separate from the orders they receive to process.
The PayPal charge will just cancel itself and may not even appear as a refund in your bank account as it was a pending bank charge or credit charge and subsequently cancelled or timed out .
This happened to me and I cut my losses with the online order and didn’t ask for any further compensation as I ordered in store and had my order honored there

  • Pending paypal refund just came through

  • +1

Still waiting for debit card refund.

  • For the drone winners, Bunnings may need more time to order the stock from supplier. I called the customer service number today and the staff said the supplier hasn't dispatched yet:(

    • Yeah…it should be expected like this as they have to honour committed orders… let’s see how long they will take

    • Cool, thanks for that. I was worried my order got lost or something because it’d been a week since getting my email and then heard nothing.

  • +2

My drone is ready for collection. Popping in to pick it up now.

    • That is great, which store did you pick up from?

      • Heatherbrae (near Newcastle)
