If you don't mind lower brightness, there are also single 800 Lumens "Click" branded 10W A60 BC Cool White LED (A Shape Globes) for $3 each https://www.bunnings.com.au/click-10w-a60-bc-cool-white-led-…

And "Click" branded 800 Lumens 9W Cool White A60 BC LED Globe - 10 Pack for $19.95 https://www.bunnings.com.au/click-9w-cool-white-a60-bc-led-g…

But I don't know how good these "Click" branded LEDs really are.

I bought the Phillips branded 13 Watt 1,400 Lumens "Warm White" LEDs on sale from Woolworths a few months ago, and I couldn't be happier.

The LEDs I bought have an almost identical colour/temperature as the old 100 Watt incandescent globes, but it feels like they are at least 50% brighter.

I liked them so much I bought all they had, and a few in other Wattage, and replaced all my 72 Watt Halogens (which to me looked closest to 100 Watt incandescents).

I must have bought at least 50 singles, for the whole house inside and out, with spares, and I bought a few for my dad while I was there.

I had two Phillips 13W ones in my house. Highly recommended.

I think I will stick with my incandescent bulbs. They are at least 40 watts. 10.5 watts would be too dark for me.

    • +11

      Power usage doesn't equal brightness.

      jolly joker

10.5w LED will at least equivalent to 60W normal ones.

      • It says 100W which is too bright for me.

    • +3

This may help you with old vs new and the equivalences, as said above, you aren't comparing them right, Lumens is the brightness, watts the power usage.

        Good reliable chart.

Zaddo if this makes you feel better my mum has always been stuck on the old style bulbs that have the filament burn halogen? Incandescent idk but they were 60 watt

Got her some 8 watt led bulbs and she loves them, they are actually brighter!

      • I have over 200 of the 72 Watt halogens, I never wanted to switch to LEDs.

I'll probably put them on eBay overseas, I think it's illegal to sell them in Australia.

        • +2

Bunnings and other stores still offer E27/B22 and other sized halogens. You're thinking of some USA states and maybe the EU where sales of halogens were banned in most sizes.

          • @Cluster: I thought you couldn't sell any light bulbs with 50 Watt or more in Australia?

They were going to phase it in over time, I think the second step (after 100 Watt incandescent) was the 72 halogens that were supposed to be banned from ?2018?

Is that wrong, or did they change the policy?

      Lol surely joking

Click pack of 10 is $20 so $2 each
OSRAM pack of 3 is $8 so $2.67 each

Apparently Philips/OSRAM are cheaper to run.

    • I've never heard of the "Click" brand, while Osram has been around for decades.

So given a choice, and if I couldn't buy Philips, I'd choose Osram over Click.

But who knows, they could all be made in the same factory in China.

The only problem for me is the OSRAM warm white LEDs are 2700K, while Philips products are almost always 3000K. 2700K mimics old style incandescent globes well but for me it's a bit too yellow. 3000K strikes a nice balance.

The advantage of buying from Bunnings is there is a warranty on the light bulbs. I had a 10W OSRAM LED burn out after ~7000 hours. I emailed OSRAM and they said the light has a three year warranty and just to return it to place of purchase. Bunnings replaced it no questions asked with reason 'customer satisfaction' entered into their system.

    • I really hate the "cold" ones.

I think they have a "sterile" feeling like in a hospital, or as if you're under one of those long (~2m) fluorescent ones.

Like you, I don't like them too warm, but if I was to err on one side or the other, I'd go with a warmer one.

    • Osram 2700k are way less orange/red compared to the Mirabella equivalent, even given the fact that they are supposed to be the same output temperature

I'd rather wait for the return of Philips LED 2 Pack special

    • That's what I bought - dozens of them lol https://www.woolworths.com.au/shop/productdetails/871609/phi… it's the closest I could find to the old 100 Watt incandescent in colour/temperature and brightness.

I bought one pack of two at first, once I saw them on, I went back and bought pretty much all they had at 50% off.

I think that once you find a light bulb that you like, you probably wouldn't want to risk buying another one (not considering they have a life expectancy of 15,000 hpurs, and the price difference is a couple of dollars).

They are all currently around 30% off https://www.woolworths.com.au/shop/search/specials?searchTer…

So the price difference between the 30% off and 50% off is a saving of $1.25/bulb for the 13 Watt 1,4000 Lumens ones.

They are two for $10.50, with the lower Wattage ones are $9 for two, so price difference between 30% and 50% off is $1.75/bulb.

^^^ I was comparing prices of Philips globes only (to see if it's worth waiting for the 50% sale).

If you need them I'd say get them now, if you don't need them wait for 50% off.

  • Great globes could not recommended more 👍

  • Had a walk around Canberra Airport Bunnings this arvo. Picked up these, 15 OSRAM LED globes and a couple of sensor lights for $49, bargain. If you are looking for the 3 packs, they are promos which won't be on the regular shelves. They will either be hung up on the pallet racking supports, in boxes in the aisles or on pallets down the main walkways between aisles.
