Got this, it's not too bad a charger although I swear I paid less than $20 for it

  • Is it possible to charge a controller with a standard phone charger? I've tried multiple chargers and cables, on both of my PS4 controllers and they never light up. Seems I can only charge them if I have them plugged into the PS4 and it's turned on 🙁

    • I think the controller requires a "data source" rather than just a power source.
I can charge it from the USB port on my laptop for instance, but yes a normal phone charger does not work.

      • Not sure about the requirement for a data source, Qi wirelessly charge my 2 controllers here so no data involved there.

Compatibility with USB cables/chargers varied for me (frustrating) which is why I went with the Qi wireless option since I already have dual charging pads for mobile phones and I didn't want to add more chargers when I could reuse existing chargers.

I manage to do it with just a cable plugged into a AC USB adapter. I use a short cable though (20cm or less), not sure if that would affect it.

      • I use the long cable that comes with the ps4
Handy when I want to keep using ps4 headphones while they charge.

Don't have to bend my neck towards the power supply then

I use a usb cable from an old phone plugged into a socket and it's fine
Keep it near where I sit
Also chargers my headphones and my playstation headphones and until usb-c existed, my phone

If you don't want to be tied to a location
      Powerbank is your friend.

Not sure why anyone would buy this ugly, stupid thing, but I think that about most things people purchase.

So I guess I'm the one who is hurtin

  • I got this charger over a year ago. Still works well. It has an indicator light unlike the OG PS dual charger.

    • The official one the lights on the controllers are on when charging I think

      • yes, what I meant is that the official one doesn't had LED indicator lights to indicate when the controllers are fully charged. It's a handy feature when your charger is at eye-level like mine.

Sony ps dual charger uses the lights on the controllers. Got the Sony one from EB for $20 a while back, really great product, is weighty so it doesn't move around easily, and very good quality.

  • I bought a cheap one on ebay, they had to ship 3 before one worked. This seems like less hassle.

Whoever came up with the Ankway brand name clearly isn’t conversant in Pig Latin! 😂

Spending $3 more and getting the Energizer brand? Worth it?
