They are $35 at the following link:
    https://www.supercheapauto.com.au/p/sca-sca-car-stands---rat…

Unless I am missing something, they look identical to the ones for $47.49

  • Anyone used the Costco ones and compared to these Supercheap ones?

I have this type of stand with the ratchet mechanism, but whenever I'm under the car I don't feel safe.
If you pull the black centre bar up several notches, you only have to lift the ratchet release bar a very short distance and the black bar is released and drops back down to the bottom with a thud.

I know when the car's weight is on them, the release bar is locked in place and it would be impossible to lift it and so make the ratchet slip, but I can't stop feeling that if I accidentally knocked the lever up with my boot scrambling around on the floor looking for that socket I've lost, it WOULD slip.
I'd feel less vulnerable if they had a locking pin that stopped the centre bar moving.

  • For those with Costco membership, they sell the Arcan ones (3000kg ratchet) for $42 (which is still cheaper even if you used SCA giftcards + cashback).

Or wait for these locking pin ones to go back down to $40 (currently $48, they were $40 only a couple of weeks ago)

I was in need of a battery recently and found Bunnings to be the best value even when considering the % off/ specials at SCA and Repco. For example the one listed in this post can be had at Bunnings (Exide brand) for $170. Not sure quality wise how it compares to the century battery, but it is backed by a 30 month warranty and is a higher CCA rating.

    • Interesting, thanks kierand. Didn't know Bunnings sold car batteries and have never seen them in store. When did this start (lol)?
