The film is down from $15.98 to $6.98 (56% discount). Not sure how great a deal this is, but it's there nonetheless. 4k + Bluray is $14.99 for those interested.

I'm assuming the "2012" in the title is of the release date of this copy, but don't quote me on that.

    1) Release date is 1982, not 2012
    2) It's not terribly clear which version of the film this is, and I'd be wary of buying without knowing that. The original cut is frustrating, the Director's Cut is better but has some pacing issues - by far the best version is the Final Cut, and I'd be wary of buying any version without knowing that it was the Final Cut.

Yep I'm aware of that! I read the description and I think they're referring to the release date of this copy. I've got the 4k final cut version as well but happened to see this. Any way to take my post down?!?

Make sure it’s the version you expect, as there’s no „2012” of Blade Runner.

From one of the reviews on Amazon:

Plethora of different versions, covers, bonus content? Confusing!
I am assuming that in terms of the movie itself, "The Final Cut" is "The Final Cut" is "The Final Cut", BUT… - I ordered my copy of the blu-ray edition off of the Amazon page that depicts a product with the "30th anniversary origami horse in the rain" cover, but I received a copy of the blu-ray edition that had a "colorful poster-style painting of the cast" cover matching what is depicted on the 4K and DVD "final cut" editions (listed variously on the same and also on different product pages) - The 3.5 hour documentary by Charles de Lauzirika described on the Amazon product page for the version I ordered is not actually included in my copy, other bonus content may not be present, nor can I identify which variant of the product contains which bonus content based on information on the Amazon product page(s) For an inexpensive blu-ray, this may not be that big a deal. But be advised that there are a bewildering number of different versions of "Blade Runner", variously on DVD, blu-ray, and 4K, a bunch of them appear to be crammed randomly (and duplicated) onto multiple Amazon product pages, product descriptions don't appear to match the version selected by the consumer, and you may not be supplied what you believed you were purchasing when you ordered. NOT helpful.

    • Yep I'm aware of that! It was odd seeing 2012 but I read the description figured what they meant by release date was release date of this copy. I've got the 4k final cut version, but just happened to stumble on this.

  • 2012 is probably the year of the release of the bluray. Still cant tell whether this version is the final cut or not.

  • 2012 is a plausible release date for a blu-ray, but the 2012 release was a 3-disc collectors set. This looks likely to be 1 of those 3 discs, but it's not clear to me which.

    • Yep it was the 30th anniversary collector's edition set with all four versions.

Who knows what you get with this, probably theatrical cut?

    Cue debate about best version…

I think have this bluray disc, it is a very basic content release.
You can get this from JB too the same price, I think Amazon just price matched.

    Save your $$$ on this version, just get the 4K version;

    $15

I have the 5-disc HDDVD release too, that had heaps of content.

    • Hey fredk1000 - side question, are you finding your HD-DVD's failing now - I shudder to think about the Bladerunner set not reading anymore.

      • Good that you are asking, I bought quite a few HDDVDs of these when they dumping these. I bought a bunch from the USA too. I spent quite a bit of money and it added up, I wish I did not in retrospect. I must of bought 100-200 if I recall. 90% are still sealed actually.

I cannot answer that question as I do not really play them much. I have opened a few that were sealed, some came with finger prints, and they also seem to have etched onto the plastic of the disc (maybe over time), I really had to scrub the crap out of it with solvent to remove the finger prints so the player could at least read it but could not clean it completely. It's like they had super glue on their fingers.

Back then I bought a few different players as a backup if they died so I had something to read them still, I bought a cheap refurbished Toshiba HDDVD player (not the top model) from ebay. I have two LG HDDVD/Bluray reader combo SATA PC drives, I have a sealed XBOX360 HDDVD pack still. Never had a XBOX360, I just bought it for the HDDVD reader.

I ending up ripping the Bladerunner HDDVD about a year ago to HDD after cleaning those fingerprints but most are just stored in tubs.

Many of my favourites I just re bought on blu ray as they are so cheap now. Then some re bought on 4K.

        :(

  • Fun fact: Blade Runner is set in 2019.

We haven't quite reached the technology they predicted of 2019 though.

  • I looked at JB today, this version is the Final Cut, 117minute version.
