    • i just remembered Day-tooooooooon-naaaaaaa

do da do da wasnt that repetitive

      • For some reason I keep getting "Very long easy right. Baby." even though that was Sega Rally.

        • “Over-head jump… oh”

    • I clicked the deal for this

  • +3

Great port and really enjoyed it on both 360 and Xbox One X… but wish I could get it on Windows (besides streaming)

    • Yeah this is amazing on either console. The only game I got full gamer score on its that good.

      • Just bought it and playing now and popped the cheev for the slot machine on first track.

        • Only 1 cheev left to get. Will do it tomorrow.

    • +1

You can actually play it on Windows through an arcade emulation

      • Not the same as playing the updated version from 360/1 and designed/optimised for the platform played on. Same as the PS3 PSN release.

        • +3

          Tell that to Billy Mitchell!

    • This was great like 20 years ago in the arcade. Is the Xbox version really worth playing?

      • I think so. It holds up really well. If you enjoy arcade racers, they don’t get much better.

      • The Xbox Live/PSN releases got pretty good reviews from memory from the perspective of remaining pure but upgrading the graphics to HD/widescreen, good controls, online play, etc…

      • According to Digital Foundry Retro video - the xbox version is currently the best rendition of the original arcade version - so yes.

    • Model 2 and daytona usa ++

      Just saying……

  • Crazy Taxi is free for me.

    • Games With Gold?

      • +1

seems like there's an issue on the Xbox store (so what else is new).

When I purchase the game for $0.00 it says I bought the trailer and now I cant actually buy the game as it says I own it already lol.

    • It says it’s the trailer. For free. Lol.

      • oh Man I paid $9.99 for the trailer just the other day. grrr

  • +1

Would I be able to play Daytona and Crazy Taxi on Xbox one if I download them?

    • +1

Yeah, both games are backward compatible.

      • thanks I bought both but crazy taxi is not really compatible with G920 wheels (is like you drive a truck, turn 360 degree to make the taxi turns). Works great with Daytona

  • Wow… didnt even know they'd ported daytona!

    • +1

2011 to XBox 360, then made backwards compatible 2017. I've just been on a nostalgia trip.

  • Man. I paid 9.99 for Daytona. Might grab crazy taxi though.

  • Thanks grabbed Daytona, I loved it, now my kids have just found it at the arcade as well. Will love it.

      • -1

Ha ha, there would be massive protests about this nowadays: "gentleman".

        • "Ladies, Gentlemen and those who don't identify as male or female… Start your engines"

    • +1

Downshift to drift, turbo then downshift to drift again.

Good old days at the arcade.

      • Lol downshift from 3rd / 4th to 1st gear to drift =D

Misled me into thinking drifting was easy

  • +3

Already have both, biggest disappointment with Crazy Taxi (due to licensing) is it's missing the Offspring/Bad Religion songs & KFC/Pizza Hut/Tower records, etc are also gone. Just doesn't feel the same as the Arcade/Dreamcast original.

However the Daytona USA port is amazing, best version of the game available.

    • +4

      YA YA YA YA YA!

    • does it work with the xbox offical wheel?

      • +1

AFAIK Daytona does, yes. Not sure about Crazy Taxi.

    • Phone version has those songs back at least. Runs a treat on just about any phone, I used to play it to death on the Xperia Play, thing was fantastic with the built in buttons, AFAIK the game still supports gamepads though so I mean, hit that shit up if you don't mind a portable go at it.

Or just emulate, that works too. Gotta love dropping peeps at KFC and Pizza Hut.

Dayyytooonnnaaaa! I’ll never forget going with my friends as a kid playing 6 player Daytona we used to run to the arcades just to play while bunking school!! You can hear the Daayttoonnnaa screams from the moment you enter!

    • +1

Bunking school? That's a new word for me. For us it wagging school or bludging school.

      • Wagging and jigging for us.

  • Bought! Thanks OP. Also had a look at Crazy Taxi, and it said I already owned it. Didn't realise.

      • And bought on Xbox. Thank you for alerting me to the price!!

I still remember the days when I would 'leave school early' to attend 'driving lesson'.

    • +1

There are people out there that don't like chocolate, not many, but they exist.

    • +1

      What's wrong with it?

    • +1

I doubt that anyone who played it in an arcade in 1994 would agree with your assessment.

  • Take note this cannot be purchased on Xbox one you need to buy the game on Xbox 360 or the marketplace via xbox.com

    • But then you can play on Xbox One right? I think that's the case. Trying to confirm first. Also, don't have Xbox Live, so just stand-alone

      • The game is backwards compatible so that is correct you will need to go to your games and apps once purchased. As for gold if you're able to purchase the game at that price you will be able to play it regardless. I mention this because some deals are only for gold users

    • Having some trouble with this, I've gone to xbox.com, gone to the arcade section and selected Daytona USA, the whole time the store web address on the PC says /AU but when I go to purchase I dont have any billing information available and detects my country as England, it would be pointless buying as I presume it wont work as the game bought outside the region or some such.

      • Could it be your microsoft account which is set to England?

  • Was just about to by Crazy Taxi but then I realized I have the Dreamcast collection for Xbox 360 which has it

    Got Daytona tho thanks!!

  • One of my favorite all time arcade games and now I can play it whenever I want at home. There's not much details on the game page, but hopefully it'll support 2 player split-screen mode.

  • Grabbed Daytona instantly, I'd still like to see it on Switch though

Thought about Crazy Taxi but without its original soundtrack it loses a lot of its appeal

    • Quite disappointed that Virtua Racing only made #2 in the 3DS Sega Classics poll and missed out. Would have been the best use of 3D ever.

  • 🎼 ‘BRUE, BRUE SKIEEEEE!’ 🎵🎶

‘I WANNAA FRYYY SOOO HIGGGHHH!’ 🎵🎶

  • +1

To think of all the dollars I pushed into Daytona USA when I was a kid and now it costs $2.48. What a steal.

    • Yeah but you'll never experience the rush and adrenaline of playing for your life with your friends crowded around.

  • Having trouble buying Daytona USA. Tried xbox.com, kept on getting:

Your purchase cannot be completed at this time. Please try again.

    Only have XB1X, don't have an XB360….

    • Did you try purchasing via the website (xbox.com.au)?

    • Try finding someone who has played it (you can add me as I've played it recently Paradise LostSX), check my achievements on your XB1X and click the game, then click on "see in Microsoft store". It should take you to the game page where you can buy it.

  • Mastered this thing on Expert doing the track backwards. There's a newer version with updated graphics. Is that available?

  • i get "Your purchase cannot be completed at this time. Please try again." when trying to buy Daytona… I bought Cup Head just fine though. FFS!

  • If I was a cia interrogator I would put a prisoner in a room surrounded by 6 of these arcade machines, all screaming out DAYTOOOOONAAA!!! At the same time however with a 1 second delay between each machine so there is mad overlap and echo. Prisoner would be giving up state secrets in no time.

    • Prisoner would be (profanity) jamming out in no time

      FTFY

      • Plot twist!

        • Time extended!

  • Crazy Taxi was much more fun than I expected (on PlayStation).
A great option also IMO, for any parents that have their kids asking and hassling them to get games like Grand Theft Auto.
GTA and similar usually have parts of the game similar to Crazy Taxi. Only usually when you are racing from A - B before the time runs out, it is to get away after shooting people.

I certainly felt a similar rush/enjoyment from Crazy Taxi, as when I played GTA many years later. A great child friendly, option, even if the kids alreadt have some of those GTA type games. Get them away from shooting, and just racing taxi at high speeds from A - B . You would be surprised how much fun and exciting an adrenaline rush it can be.

  • Expired :( back up to normal price.

  • Ended up getting Crazy Taxi and Strider. Both are good fun. In my looking into this i was dissapointed to find out that there used to be a Outrun Arcade that can no longer be purchased due to rights lapsing for Ferrari. Such a shame that these games are lost due to these license issues. Would have loved to added this to my collection. These are the games that i love.
