the value is different per user - depends how much they got you for last time. I found that if you don't accept / ignore this one the one after was lower.

    • +3

And don’t overspend it by 5% otherwise the threshold may increase at next offer.

      • Yes but you could also open more accounts.

    • Does the value go lower than $50? Anyone got offered $50 off for $30 x 4 weeks spend?

      • Never heard of one like that on here.

  • Targeted…. Everyone's different.

Wish they did it like Woolworths and they were accumulative each week.

  • Thanks OP.

    This is a great deal.

  • got it - this is my consequent 4th 50p/w deal, previous sessions are all completed.

  • Another one? I just got through one :)

This time mine is 10,000 points for min $60 each week. Last time it was $80 i believe.

The lowest i have had was $50. I think some few people managed to get $40 min spend but this seems very rare.

    • I think their trying to counter the Garden stuff.. I had two $180 for 7200pts each this past week.

  • +2

Got $90 and $60 this round. Last time I had $130 and I ignored it.

  • +1

Last time for was $60, did not activate the one for $80.
Hoping to get another $50 again soon

  • -1

spend $210 each week for $100, crazy!

    • +2

      10,000 points is only $50.

      • Nah I've got $130 spend for 10000 points or #180 spend for 20000 points on the same card..

  • I got Coles 4x$60 for 10,000 points, and Woolworths 1x$50 for 3,000 points, Woolworths is much, much more generous.

    • +1

For one week yes but it really depends on what you would spend normally over the 4 week period.
I normally spend ~$50 a week anyway so spending $10 extra a week to get the $50 in points is a better deal since I just buy non perishable items that I would have to by anyway at some point in the not too distant future.
All this is really doing in my case is bring forward my spend (like last one were I bought a years supply of dish washing liquid and toilet paper) but not increase it though everyone's situation is different.

      • Yes, that's right. It ensures that you spend at Coles (instead of changing your mind and spending at Woolies at a later date) and that you are buying at the current price (as opposed to a special price at a later date). There are probably other reasons but these two would already make it worth it for Coles.

    • I also got a "30% off" offer but after taking it up with Woolies, I haven't gotten anything of note in weeks. Coles seem to give regular smaller offers. They are quick to increase the spend value though.

    • +2

Woolies only does it once in a blue moon.

      • Yes used to be as regular as Coles.

  • I'm out. Asking for $290 spend x 4 weeks ;(

    Thanks for posting though OP!

    • how expensive is your weekly shop normally?

    • +2

Ours are $310!!! For the account we buy gift cards on
And $50 on our food account

Makes no sense that giftcard purchases increase the minimum spend but don’t count towards it

      • +1

I contacted flybuys about 2 years ago giving then a friendly heads up that gift cards are mucking up the spend numbers and could they amend or at least take on feedback. They didn't answer. When I asked for someone to look into and get back to me they said sorry no-one will be getting back to you. They weren't rude in delivering the message but just very blunt and not a care in the world.

We were almost exclusively a Coles household before that and thanks to the experience are more Woolies customers but still benefit from both programs.

        • Customer service are very different from the head office customer analytics people; there is no way head office staff will be answering customer questions directly unfortunately.

          • +2

@ihbh: True, but I didn't contact or expect a head office reply. I asked that a flybuys supervisor call me back. A flybuys supervisor could have called me back and said they understand my concern and will pass on the feedback. They didn't do that.

    • +1

Get another card! I got to $120 on one card and $50 on the other card.

  • Got 4 x $50 spend for $50 (10k points) again

Quite a good promo which gets me into Coles shopping

  • I dont have any offer?

    • +2

Mine came through about 3.30pm today. Check your spam/promotions folder.

      • Still none for me:(

  • +1

Last time I got offered $40 spend, this time around its $60 per week :( only go to Coles to top up my Opal so this will be a challenge

  • +1

Does Boost Mobile Voucher count as a gift card? I.e. will this be excluded from the Flybuys offers

    • +2

I would like to know this too, I know it doesn't work at Woolies, but may work at Coles, because their exclusion only applies to following items
"excludes purchases of all gift cards, iTunes cards, tobacco and tobacco related products and Coles Online delivery fees. "

      • Agreed, unless they include the recharge vouchers to be part of gift cards

    • +2

I had one of these offers back in May. I'm pretty sure the $135 Boost deal counted. If I remember right, the only purchase I made was the Boost recharge and SIM and a message appeared at the bottom of the receipt to tell me I'd completed my fourth $50 spend.

    • +2

It worked for me today - I got the message printed at the bottom of the receipt "Congratulations Just 3 more weeks to go"

  • $110 x 4 for me… will ignore.

  • +4

Stack it with 1000 points using this offer:

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/485972

  • +1

Earlier in the year I got $60 a week, then recently $70 a week.. recently I got a spend $90 to get 2000 points, so I'm guessing it's gone up again for me.

    • Don't scan your flybuys card till it's at a comfortable discount level.

      • +1

Do not agree. No need to loose points/$$$ just get a new account. It is very easy. Make sure you note the dob if you use a fake one as they use this to id you if you need to call them.

    • Tip: don't go more than $4 over the target spend (or any shop for that matter), or it'll very likely go up next time.

      • +3

        $4 exactly? So precise!

        You speak from experience?

I guess they might reasonably change things up at $5 intervals…

  • +1

I haven't been scanning my flybuys card in a few mths. My offers has changed to a lower threshold everytime Coles send me a flybuys offer. I'm gonna wait till they give me a spend of $50. It's now at $60 for 2000 point from spend $100.

    • +1

Yes it would work but there is a better way, see my comment above.

  • $60 this round. I had it at $50 for about half a year I think.

  • 4x $90 for me.
Might skip this round and see if it lowers next time

  • 4x $70 up from $50. I won't be hitting that amount; plus I'm away during most of the second week.

  • Is points better or 50$ off?

    • If you get the points converted to money. Same. If you get qantas points it’ll only be worth like 4000? But if you use certain flight redemption you can get a value of around $20/25+ per 1000 points making it worth $80/$100+

      • The $50 off has an expiration date (1 month approx), where I doubt the point usage does.

        • The points last indefinitely as long as
"flybuys points don't expire as long as you collect or redeem them at least once a year. If you don't earn or redeem any points on your account for a period of 12 consecutive months, then your points will automatically expire and your membership may be terminated.Sep 16, 2019"

      • Don't you mean Virgin Velocity, not Qantas?

        • Oops. I did my research based on qantas points. I assume it’ll be similar with velocity points but can’t be sure.

          • +1

@ATangk: No worries. You can convert 10000 Flybuys points to 5000 Velocity points but you have to wait for the 15% transfer bonus promotions which happen every few months. I was just wondering if there was some way to convert to Qantas points that I hadn't heard of but that doesn't seem to be the case.

  • $50 off for 4x $100 spend.

  • I haven’t had anything this time. I wonder if they’ve stopped as I have ignored the last few hoping it would get the $ down.

  • I've got $140 spend for 10,000 points or $190 spend for 20,000 points on one card and $70/10,000 points on another.

  • Any particularly easy ways to hit $50 (or whatever amount you have) besides 'normal' groceries?

    • Opal recharge!

      • What? Is that really a thing you can do at Coles that isn't excluded from your quota like the vouchers?

    • +1

Stick to nonperishable goods or necessities. Use a spreadsheet as your shopping list to make sure you don't exceed your spend target by too much.

      • +1

        Meat, meat, meat!

I have the added challenge of needing everything to fit in a backpack for bicycle transport, so things need to be 1.) Expensive, 2.) (Relatively) Lightweight/Small in form and 3.) Stuff I would have bought and used anyway.

Since you can freeze all those kanga steaks it works out.

Also recommend chocolate and plunger coffee (Vittoria 1kg at 50% off for around $15) to get you to the threshold. Dental floss on special is good too, also mouthwash.

      • Toilet paper, detergents and cleaning materials - when half price.

        • When I have a car, TP is definitely on the list. Lightweight, always going to get used and racks up a bill even at half price, but too bulky for a backpack bike ride alas.

    • Nappies!

      • Yeah! I'm bound to have a baby one of these days. Those things don't expire for ages, right?

        • Never unless you have rats.

  • +1

    This time I got $60.
Last time I got $50 and did all 4 weeks successfully and got $50 off on the next bill.

    • +2

getting points is always better as you don't need to spend al $50 in one go within 4 weeks

  • It’s targeted dude, op needs change heading.

  • Got 3 accounts - $60 pw, 50 and 50.

    • +1

I really need to set up a couple more.

  • Thanks OP, got 10,000 points for 4 x $50 per week.

  • buying boost sim card qualify for the spending?

    • +1

      Yes, phone recharges count.

  • +1

Keep in mind that you have about a month to use up the $50 off.

I got caught short a couple of promos ago while racking up $ for a Woolies deal and didn't realise there was an expiration to my $50 off until a few days after.

Called up FlyBuys and they gave me a "Just this time and never again," reprieve.

  • I have two collect 6600 bonus points when you spend $110, both active with different expiry dates, in addition to this offer.

Pretty good deal from Flybuys imo

  • +1

I had something like 4x or 5x offers in the flybuys app. This one, the 1000 points one, a 3x points, and 4x for whole chickens, and something else I forget now. I asked staff if I should activate the lot, or if the lesser ones would wipe out the better ones? They didn't really know, but said to activate only one offer - the one you want most, to be sure you get it.

So what's the reality? If you have several offers showing in the app, plus a barcode on a docket, should you only activate one? Or activate the lot and you'll get them all, if your shop matches more than one offer?

    • +2

They usually stack and you get the bonus points as separate line items in your flybuys account transaction.

    • +1

I do not know about ap but I have done this many times using emailed offers on laptop, offers printed on dockets and offers mailed out and they all stacked. I would think it would also work with the ap - just another method of receiving offers.

      • I'm wondering like with the coupon sheet they mail out… e.g. One in my wallet has: "Triple points on any shop of your choice", and another says: "1000 bonus points when you spend $60". So say you spend $60 and scan both… Do you get 3x whatever points $60 gets you, PLUS 1000 points?

        • +1

In my experience yes, as long as you use the flybuys account they apply to and during the specified period. The triple points and bonus points usually apply to alternate weeks.

          • +1

@Yola: Ok, thanks. I have them all activated and realised if shop on Monday, there's another 1000 coming up in the app, so I'll get a bunch of points.

            • +1

@GregMonarch: Yes, the bonus points are worth a lot more than triple points, so if you are only going to shop fortnightly its best to do it on the bonus weeks.

  • I have $50 per week for 4 weeks with 10 000 points.
Last week I had 2400 points for $60 one off, 1000 points for $50 printed on a receipt and 500 points from a mailed voucher. Total 3900 points ($19.50) for $60 spend, 32.5%.
This week I will use the 1st week of the 4 week deal 2500 points, plus I have a one off 2800 points for $70 emailed offer and again 1000 points for $50 printed on a receipt. Total 5400 points ($27.00) for $70 spend, wow 38.5% off. Plus 4% off with Suncorp GC and of course purchase a lot of half price specials.
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/485972

  • Gee can you purchase alcohol at liquorland and have it count as week 1 of the shop? Or does that not work

    • Does not work. Separate stores.
