  • mwave has the Samsung for 4c more delivered and many other stores have it cheaper if one can pick up.

    nothx from me.

    • Much rather LG over Samsung!

    • +1 its not from COTD

  • Oh I see …

    http://www.mwave.com.au/sku-17050169-Samsung_SE_S084F_RSBS_S…

    thats 34.99 + about 11.95 for postage.

umm what would you suggest though … Samsung or LG ? Or is it a case of personal preference ?

    • I think Samsung make the much dearer Sony branded ones (well they used to) so I'd go with that.

    • This is COTD i'd highly recommend the other retailer :D

      • which one ? Mwave, Dick Smith ?

No one can decide if LG, Samsung or Toshiba is better :P

        • Very surprised to see a recommendation for an LG product. I cant comment on this External DVD Burner, but LG products in general are known to be of a lower quality. Google LG product quality to see the information on the internet, this search gets a lot more "poor quality" hits than substituting for other brands.

LG have better firmware and performance, and homebrew in general

    • Yeah but you need to buy from COTD

      • The Toshiba is in store only, is COTD that bad?

        • $49 toshiba from DSE is free delivery.

        • Its misleading on the DSE site, its in store only, and you cant add it to the cart, despite the free delivery claim. But i did see the Toshiba's today in DSE and my local store had a lot in stock.

  • This is a small saving over the Toshiba which DSE has for $49, with free delivery. I prefer the Toshiba.

I would bet the Toshiba is a rebagged TSST corp which is crap, Sammy's you will probably never get a firmware update so any issues will stay for the life of the device

And you can find issues with ANY brand of electronics if you google, google is good at giving you what you want..

  • I have a really old laptop (from ~2000) with a non-working drive. Would any of the above mentioned be good for replacement of the internal drive (ie. taking it apart and puttting it in place of the old one)? From what I remember the original is a Toshiba drive.
