BenQ TK800M 3000 ANSI 4K HDR Home Entertainment Projector $1599.99 @ Costco (Membership Required)

I am looking for upgrading my 5 years old 1080p projector to a 4K one.

And found this one at Ringwood Costco, not a bad price for a 4K projector.

done!sorry, this is my first post.

  • How does a projector produce HDR?

  • I am very enjoying the 3D function of my current 1080p projector. It seems like most 4k projectors nowadays do not have 3D anymore.

      This one has it

      • Great! does it come with glasses too? 2 pairs?

        • +1

Not it doesn't come with glasses

Just bought this a month ago. Can't complain the picture quality at this price. Best cheap 4k projector.

Negatives>> Fan is bit noisy. During quiet movie scenes, fan noise is annoying sometimes.

    • can you see any rainbow effect during dark scene movie

      • +2

No such issues with my projector. Rainbow effect sometimes happens due to Projector Screen itself and not the projector.

If only it was the HT5550

  • Does this have native 4k or some sort of simulated 4k?

    • +2

If it was decent genuine 4K it would have an extra zero.

$7500 for the JVC N5 would be the entry I believe to native 4K. Then the Sony 270ES near that price.

      from specs seem Native 4K

    • +1

From the price and being DLP probably uses pixel shifting, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

      • yep you are correct.
"It uses XPR technology to project UHD 4K resolution onto the screen with compatible content"

"DLP XPR Technology is Texas Instruments' pixel-shifting technology that helps projectors to achieve true 4K resolution with 8.3 million distinct pixels"

  • Nice to know about this 4K projector …. currently using a 1080p Epson 3D wifi that's still going strong

throw distance is probably about right for my lounge room. it would be nice to get to see some 4K discs via an Oppo on this projector

might have to think about this deal at Costco and CA

Had the older version (TK800) of this projector for about a year. Works well in my bright living room. No problem after using it almost every night.

All budget projectors like these will be laser or LED next year and then you don't have to worry about replacing bulbs and truly treat it like a TV replacement.
