  • My last rental from Hertz was a nightmare. I wouldn't rent from them again if it was free

    • What happen?

It was all a bad dream…

They don't issue you a receipt when you drop off the car. I asked for one but was told not possible so I asked the reception girl to sign my rental agreement with date and time of return.
A week late $480 taken out my credit card.
Rang their national customer service line no one answers .
Emailed them but no answer after 5 working days even though they state 3.
Called the branch and was told that they can't help me. They claimed I dropped off the car 3 days after I actually dropped it off.
Took going to social media to finally have it partially refunded.
I have done a charge back with my credit card for the rest. Had enough of waiting

        • Wow! That's a real nightmare.

        • I once had them accuse me of not returning their car. Had to get the airport to provide security footage of the car driving in and parking in their bays. I have no idea what happened to it but it was a nightmare dealing with them.

          • @blergmonkeys: Hertz has a hole in the reception desk were they want you to drop the keys in even if the attendant is behind the desk. Hardly an instant process.
In my case they got around to it 3 days later and charged me for their fine service

'They don't issue you a receipt when you drop off the car.'
This is standard behaviour for most car hire companies. The receipt is instantly emailed to you.

    • Even if it was free….?

    • Used three plenty of times. Always great.

  • Got this offer on all of my primary cards.

  • Interesting to see Proserpine Airport is in:
"Proserpine Airport Sir Reginald Ansett Drive Proserpine QLD 4800"

In May this year, in a similar AMEX Hertz offer, I discovered to my disappointment, that my hire from Hertz Proserpine did not generate the credit. On enquiry to AMEX the response was that Proserpine Airport was excluded.

It pays to check and keep a copy of the PDF of participating agencies. Later down the track, the deal description isn't up anymore and so the PDF is no longer linked for you to check.

  • For anybody wondering, this worked for a booking I made in Spain :).
