got my 2X $200 EFTPOS from officeworks today…super quick delivery…

  • PROBLEM: I received email to redeem my code today. However when I went to the link, instead of a 13 digit code, it is showing me only 4 digits!!

    Anyone faced the same issue??

    • +1

      Yes see below

    • +11

      Nope. Just you.

  • +2

First lot of POUNDSOFF ebay paypal gift cards lot came through quick and OK with 13 digit codes. Did a 2nd lot with a new account and they came through slow and only 4 digit codes. This has happened to me once before and was sorted out in about a day after I messaged via ebay account.

    • I only used it with one account. But looks like it is a common issue.

      • I got my first lot working. The next few lots were all JB or wish gift cards which all have been sent. Ubereats too. But the 4th lot onwards didnt work.

    • How did they resolve this issue? Just issued new cards to you?

      • Last time they sent an email saying the issued gift cards were erronous and sent new ones. That time I hadnt even opened the codes yet since I had no need for them. Luckily I bought enough working codes to make my purchase today. Still waiting on $2000 of codes though…

        • +1

How many did you buy? Presumably you set up a number of accounts to do this too…I am impressed ;-)

          • +1

@SunnyinDubai: Under 5k but close I think? Spread across wish, ebay, jb, ubereats, eftpos.

            • +1

@ATangk: How were you able to get that many without getting banned? I got banned by the time I transacted on 4th account. 5k is equivalent to 10 accounts.

    • Having same issue, just messaged them hopefully they send me proper ones.

    • yes same, it looks like the quality of codes bought on a saturday are better than a sunday.
They say you shouldnt buy a car made on a monday

I wonder if someone was clever they could take the 4 digit code and reverse engineer it to the 13 digit.
      Free money, forever!

The eBay account I made for this deal got suspended, citing "raised serious security concerns".

    For your protection I guess

When I called eBay today about the issue with the giftcards, the rep made me totally feel at ease when he told me "don't worry you are covered by our money back guarantee" if I dont get the giftcards from the seller.

In otherwords, they are reassuring me I am covered by eBay … from eBay.

    • +1

And that if Ebay renege on your $500 giftcards - they'll refund you $408!

    • Well thats the 2565,585,686th different variation of response

I would not hold them to it

This is the reality of philipino call centres

      • +1

You know what else they made me do? Change my eBay from a UK registered account to AUS by calling my mobile while I was on the line with them using my mobile. I literally had to put the initial phone call on hold on my mobile to accept the new phone call to the same mobile. Even though I requested a call back for the same number.

And he said he will contact the seller on my behalf. So eBay will contact eBay.

        Can't make this stuff up.

        • That's interesting.

          • @Bob Lou: One day they will make a movie of that phone call, that could be interesting

            it will be called;

Inception ransom in the taken phone booth?
            The Paypal redemption?
            The Paytrix?
            The Paypal games?
            Dial E for Ebay?

The seller of the eBay gift cards is actually Paypal.

eBay and Paypal are now independent companies.

The guarantee comes from eBay and covers Paypal not providing you the giftcards.

Paypal will send the correct ones later.

Anyone else having the issue where the redemption codes are only 4 digits and not 13.
All three gift cards I ordered are 4 digits. I've contacted the seller hopefully they can resolve it.
EDIT: seems a lot of people having the same issue.

This is an email I received last year, approx 23 hours after I got the initial batch of 4 digit codes, so I’m sure it’ll fix itself but with the volume of codes might take time.

    Hi,

I’m Andy from the PayPal Digital Gifts team.

Thank you for your recent order for an eBay Australia digital gift card. It has come to our attention that due to a technical issue, a small number of the gift codes supplied were invalid. Your order(s) was amongst those affected.

We are providing replacement gift codes for orders that were affected – your new gift code is shown below:

    0063966878107

To redeem please follow these instructions:

    · Enter the 13-digit redemption code during checkout, then Apply.
    · Review the payment details and click Confirm and Pay.

Please ignore the previous email from PayPal Digital Gifts containing a claim link to the gift code – this is invalid.

If you ordered multiple gift codes which were affected, you will receive multiple copies of this email from us each containing a new gift code. Be sure to keep each of the emails as they contain unique gift codes.

This was outside of our control however we have worked quickly to ensure you have a replacement valid gift code(s) as soon as possible. We apologise for any inconvenience this may have caused.

    Regards,

    Andy Lee

      Hey,

If that's your actual gift card number, you might want to remove it. :)

      • +1

It's from last year, I'm sure he has already used it :)

        • Exactly haha. Though there is always going to be a wishful few.

      • Hahaha scratch that. Just realised from last year, so probably already used. Lol. Sorry about that.

    • Still patently waiting today!

      • +1

        Urgent purchase waiting?

        • when 20% off selected sellers is ending today, and just say 12 of the 13 items have been sold, then yes, everything is URGENT

    • +1

Hamish must have been in charge of the codes on the weekend.

      • Andy still is fixing the issue. Got 2 codes resent 15 mins apart. Still waiting for the others.

  • So this kind of deal has lasted for a year…

so eBay's Ok with the glitch, give core users 10% off I guess, but this time they messed up which resulted a 18.2% off…

    • +2

They had 15% off in the past.

    • Does it mean Paypal might cancel and refund the orders?

      • It's possible since this time it is big and it's been sometime since people contacted them without result

  • +2

Just got an email with the replacement codes. Be on the lookout for them!

    • good to know. Just wondering did you contact them ?

      • I did on ebay but got an automated response. So I'm assuming they would automatically identify the codes affected by the issue and email you accordingly.

  • +3

Received the correct code for one of my gc, waiting for others to come

    Hi,

I’m Andy from the PayPal Digital Gifts team in Australia.

Thank you for your recent order for a $50 eBay Australia Digital Gift Card. Due to a technical issue with our gift card supplier a small number of the gift cards supplied were invalid. Your order was amongst those affected.

We are providing replacement gift codes for orders that were affected – your new gift code is shown below:

    • Received all codes and verified

  • Same got an email with replacement redemption code, but only for 1 of the 3 gift cards.

    • They did say that if you ordered multiple cards which are affected, you will receive multiple emails, just gotta wait on it I guess.

      • +1

I received all of them now.

  • Do we still use the 4 digit pin they originally sent out? The emails I have received this morning wih the 13 digit code don’t have any pin attached (or any link to the actual card)?

    • +3

Nah all you need is the 13 digit redemption code which goes in the coupon box, no pin is required and the 4 digit ones were an error on their end which should be discarded now.

    • Pin isn't required to redeem eBay gift card codes

You can check the balance here with the 13 digit code only

      https://www.ebay.com.au/gft/balance

      • so if you guess someones code and there is balance still on it, where is the security?

its true that i dont understand these gift card codes, so I spend them straight away.

        • +1

If someone can guess a 13 digit code, why can't a 4-digit pin?

  • Recieved the new 13-digit code for a $50 Gift card first, then another for $200 30 minutes later.
    Andy must be busy.

    • Between resending gift cards and hosting radio shows, Andy’s a very busy man!

      • +1

Resending millions (worth) of gift cards must be a drain!

  • Ordered 3 but they only sent me 2 new codes. Hope the other one follows soon.

    • I am waiting for the third one too.

      • same here, received replacement for 2 x $200 and still waiting for a $100.

        Edit: just got it.

  • +2

got the new codes, but $600 in plain text in an email? GREAT SCOTT!

  • +1

Received all my codes now. Somehow I doubt Mr Andy Lee is sending every single email… unless Andy lee is a computer AI

  • I got all five $200 codes this morning around 10:30am. Thanks Andy Lee. Surprised they weren't secure in their send but hey, if it works…

  • Same here, received all codes from "Andy Lee" in plain text emails instead of links to Paypal server.

  • is it possible to apply the codes to an ebay account first? I don’t want to lose the codes or if someone hacks my email lol!

    • +3

I believe the only way to do that is to make a purchase of a small amount and apply the gift card, the residual balance will then be connected to your eBay account. You'd have to do it for every card however.

      • Whatever happened to ebay of old with all the $0.01 purchases?

        • ebay will try to use the existing codes what can pay for the order in full first.

          • +2

@fatice: Nah not if you dont select the other gift card. It will only override if you use 2 codes and any 1 code can cover the whole cost.

    • You could copy the numbers to a document on your hard drive and double delete the email.

      • Best way is to buy things with your money…

        • Yes but you may need to wait till a 20 % off sale.

  • got replacement code from andy today

  • +1

I seriously hope andy gets all these code resending right?

Imagine sending wrong codes to wrong people.

You get ypur code and its already been used.

Csn you imagine trying to convince paypal that you didnt use it

    • Yep can happen when one manually copy and paste in a hurry. Sometimes the action did not happen when I clicked copy, and I pasted the a previous copied content instead. So there's a good chance people get the same codes. Well, this certainly does encourage people to spend their codes quickly…

      • I just checkd got my codes at 10am !

    • Probably scraped out of an excel spreadsheet or something, doubt this is manual

      • im thinking all of the gift card process would be automated

  • Got mine replacement codes finally !!

    • -4

Mate, I don't know why your comment has been negged

  • Contacted seller for like 32 hours ago, still have not got replacement code

    • +1

i didnt contact them, and i got the replacement. so, just wait.

    • I reckon just be patient till tomorrow, prob then send them another message to ensure yours isn't missed out

Officeworks is really pissing me off.
I got email notification saying my order was being delivered on Monday and then got an email later that afternoon saying the courier attempted delivery but no one was home. Ok, then I got home and noticed there was no card left or anything. Ring up courier company and they say I have to ring officeworks to rearrange delivery? WTF? Ok…so I rang officeworks and they tell me their security put a stop to my order due to security concerns and I will get a call from them. Been two days and still no word from them and customer service can't do anything either.

You bloody take my money, issued me with the invoice and yet you block my order?

    • im the contrarary

ordered on saturday evening, arrived Sunday afternoon

my address was a bit ambigous but office works called me to double check, as they said courier was in the area

im impressed, fastest delivery for anything ive received

    • +1

I had a similar issue with you, tracking said attempted delivery on Monday, i was home all day and have a security camera, no one came to the door, no card left anywhere. Called Toll they said to call Officeworks which I was confused about. Called Officeworks, they took my order numbers and I said will pass it onto management to look into. Didn't hear back from them.

Today the tracking finally updated around 1:30pm and was on route for re-delivery and I just so happened to catch the Toll driver at my next door neighbours house trying to deliver a few thousand dollars worth of gift cards to the wrong house. Lucky I caught him and called him over.

      • I finally got a call from them today and arranged to have it delivered to my parent's place.
Just got an email saying it's been delivered so hopefully it's all good now.

        • +1

These clowns are just amazing. The cards are nowhere to be found. Called them and they claim they tried to deliver to my home address and no one was home. Why the hell then did you send me an email saying the order has been delivered!!!

Never seen such a badly organised delivery ever.

  • Ordered 6 EFTPOS gift cards on Saturday and 3 on Sunday from 2 different accounts via Officeworks. Still haven't received the invoice email. anyone else on the same boat ?

    • Sorry for the newbies question, does these Officeworks EFTPOS cards have quantity limit like 5 cards per 10 days?
If they are not linked to Paypal, does it mean we can get 5 from Paypal and 5 from Officeworks?

      • This is like buying a product from OW and has nothing to do with paypal gift cards. hence, there is no limit on buying.
