These are great headphones, but bluetooth 4.2 is not later than bluetooth 5.

    • +2

To be fair though, there is nothing in bluetooth 5 that would actually contribute to "enhanced gaming and sound" really. (The biggest changes are low power mode, higher data throughout and range, none of which really matter to gaming or sound quality)

It DOES have the latest technology for gaming: AptX-LL. But what you SHOULD have pulled it up for is the lack of high def codec support (AptX-HD, LDAC, LHDC). I would say those are the latest wireless technology for sound (quality).

So yeah, you are right to pull it up for that statement, but you pulled it up for the wrong thing! :)

This was released late 2017, so at the time it was the latest, BT5 headsets didn't come into the market till this year. They unfortunately don't reprint boxes to repackage all the stock.

        • Yeah that too! :)

(FWIW, both AptX-HD and LDAC were released before 2017, so what I said is accurate!) :)

  • At this price point should really be getting IEMs.

    • +2

      Luckily, these are IEMs! ;)

      • my bad, just don't like how the cable can't be separated from the about ear piece. always had the cables breaking and having to chuck away a good pair of earphones.

        • Yeah, in that case you want an IEM with detachable cables.

Sennheiser actually just released a new neckband style bluetooth IEM with detachable cable (IE80s BT), but it’s pretty pricey!

Otherwise there are heaps of regular detachable IEMs which you can buy Bluetooth cables for! (Even cheap “chi-fi” options can be Bluetooth-ified)

          • @caprimulgus: Yep, defs wouldn't mind this model if there was detachable cables and I'll just put on my own bluetooth cable.

        • Wait, so now you don't like IEMs anymore? Unlike high-end full-size headphones, even expensive IEMs typically use a fixed cable.

          • @elektron: haha, I still do. just really like how I don't have to throw away something that works perfectly fine when a flimsy cable breaks.

            • @POSITIVEVIBESONLY: Do you realise that the product category you are after - i.e. bluetooth earphones with a detachable cable - just doesn't exist?

              • +1

@elektron: I have a pair, Shure SE215 Wireless Sound Isolating Earphones w/ Bluetooth

                • +1

                  @POSITIVEVIBESONLY: Wow…right you are - I stand corrected!

                  • +1

@elektron: There's a variety of companies that sell the standalone bluetooth cables like elecom LBT-HPC1000RC. So you can hold onto your fav earphones and get any cable you want, wireless or non-wireless. It was a game changer for me, hope you try it out.

                    • @POSITIVEVIBESONLY: Thanks for the advice - will keep it in mind. I haven't had your bad luck though, and I've used a lot of mid-range and high-end (over the ear, around the neck, and true wireless) bluetooth headphones over the years. In most cases I've upgraded as the technology improved and sometimes just for the heck of it, before they stopped working.
