Can I use the GPS to see where my kids are in case they get lost?
Can I download games on to it?
    Something similar to Moochies?

    • +2

      I don't think so.
You need to insert a SIM card in those ones.

I have only seen very limited choices for those kids GPS watches and none of them are close to $100 mark.
And if it is around that price, it is usually some international version that might not support the local 3G/4G bands in Australia.

Markets for any serious kid/education product are very inflated.
They always want to bundle their product with subscription services or complicated plans.

I would like to see someone who can offer a simple and straight forward product that I can clearly see the cost and specs for the product.
Then I would buy one for my daughter.

  • There is also a Pulse version.
    https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/kogan-pulse-wellbeing-smart-wat…
Not sure what the difference is.

    • weighs 280g, wow. Damn heavy watch.

    • one touch point same as blitzwolf

    • Looks much nicer

    • Picked up one of those in a previous sale, don't buy it, pretty rubbish.

Step counter is ridiculously sensitive, would over-count by a good 20%

Poor quality of Kogan brand goods and terrible customer servo. NO HOTLINE TO CALL

    • +2

Their product can be good and bad.
I have mixed experiences in the past.

Good thing is I usually do my research before clicking the payment button.
And if it something I can't be bothered to do my research - it must be cheap enough.

  • I assume not Gadgetbridge compatible?

    • Thats a neat app. How do you find out about these things?

      • Internet.

        • +1

          Alright, keep your secrets then.

          • @outlander: Before I bought a smart watch I googled privacy options for it.

            • @Thrifty McGifty: My google must be set to dum dum, because all that comes up for me when I search that is ads, news reports, and scientific publications so wordy that they guarantee they'll be overlooked.

I need to do something, like find a search engine with more of a bias towards github, so I stop missing out on these hidden nuggets of gold among the vast sea of trash that is the internet.

  • I swear this is just the new blitzwolf one on bang good for $23-28?

    • +2

I am pretty sure the BlitzWolf one is touch point screen - see the GIF image.
You could only touch the touch point under the screen to toggle through the settings.
Kogan one is full-screen touch that supports swipe (similar to Fitbit Versa)

    • Showing as $38 for me

  • +2

Silent alarm clock….I hope that means vibration

  • -8

I own this. It would be too expensive if they were free.

    AVOID.

    • +4

According to Price Hipster, this is a new product that became available yesterday.
I haven't seen this model before also.

I am interested to how do you own this already?
      Do you work at Kogan?
Or do you work at their warehouse?
If you do, please don't forget to tick the associated box.

      • -5

I own the pulse and cannot imagine they are massively different, happy to be proved wrong.

In no way associated. Can't imagine a Kogan employee trying to get people to avoid buying products they sell but who knows.

        • +3

          Totally different product!

        • +2

I can provide some feedback on the difference once I received mine if you don't mind.
I own the Pulse also (bought it when it was $39 shipped about a few weeks ago) - it is OK.
Better than the ebay/banggood ones but cannot compete with Fitbit Versa.
You get what you pay for of course.

This one seems to be better than the Pulse - just read through the specs and materials on iamge 4/5.
Also full touch screen vs touch point.
Hense the higher price tag :)

          • +1

@CrispyDuck: Would be great if you could let us know, when you get it in a few months. ;)

  • Can you choose what app you connect these 'budget' smartwatches to or are you locked into their proprietary apps?

When people are concerned with data security, is it data rom the watch directly or via the associated app?

  • This or Amazfit bip?

    • -6

      Amaxfit bip is crap

      • Why?

        • -3

          .. yes . congo … why???

      • +1

Have to disagree. It depends what you want to use it for.

I love mine. For $60 it does everything I want. It notifies me of phone alerts, notifications and messages, It tracks my rides (through GPS), I can customise it through 3rd party apps to perform tasks (like turn my smart lights on) and - most importantly - it has a phenomenal battery life. I'm talking weeks with the display always on (thanks to the e-ink display). Sure the display isn't very pretty - I don't care. If I want to see something pretty, I use my phone.

I want my watch to be functional, have an awesome battery (I don't want to be charging another device every night) and be well-priced. It saves me from taking my phone out of my pocket a thousand times a day. So I'm super happy with it. And it NEVER freezes or has a fit like my old Sony SW3.

So crap is subjective I'd say…

    • Is that the same one?

      • Looks identical - reviews and uploaded images look good!
Can't believe the Kogan branded one is so much cheaper than Amazon…
I would be happy to wear this as a daily device if the reviews are real.
Def looks way better than my Pulse watch.

this one or apple watch :-)

    • +1

Apple watch is A LOT more $$$
      Totally different range and product.

  • Do you know if this watch is able to connect to a Motorola?
Fitbit can't connect to Motorola's so on the look for a new watch for my wife

    • Depends on what model of Motorola your wife is using.
I think your wife's Motorola will be compatible with most smartwatches as long as it is running Android 4.0 or later.

  • Kogan … is this watch a re-badged AmazFit Bip!!!

  • I have AmazFit BIP for over a year and the best part is battery life but not display screen.
Would this one will be better display ? if it is, I would get that one.

  • Is it compatible with Qantas wellbeing App?

  • Just wondering what happens to your smart watch after a couple years?

    Bin it?

I had the very first Huawei smart watch and it only last 1.5 days.
It has screen burn in ….

    • +2

I collect them - and store them in a little shelf.
Same to all the smartphones that I've had for the past 10+ years, I keep them.
Every now and then I take them out and appreciate them.
To me, they are like a part of my memory :)

Also, I would probably enjoy the moment when I take out my 50-year-old smartphone to show off to my grandchild…

  • I'm newly researching smart watches.. How does this sort of watch compare with the ticwatch (which seems to be another smart watch loved by ozbargainers)?

  • +1

Just missing a Samsung/Apple pay function. Otherwise too good to buy.

    • True - NFC is a very useful function that, unfortunately, only available on very limited choices.
And none of them is anyway near wallet-friendly.

  • thanks OP - ordered one. My xiaomi amazfit keeps freezing, sick of faffing around with different apps to get it to work again.

    • … I'm suffering the same problem as you are … when I tried to update my AmazFit Bip it froze… unable to rescue it back to working order!!! Hopefully, this new one will not fail me!!!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SSDBQ_oMWes showing the features and usage if anyone is interested. There's no talking, so chuck it onto mute to avoid the annoying overly loud music.
Actual unboxing/review of the ID205 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e9ruslo-sdg. Might be useful if you want to see the learning curve if you don't like reading manuals.

    • Thanks for the video!
I enjoyed watching the unboxing one.

  • +1

Meh, my first smart watch. I bought it to chart my heart rate. The app is a fail. Has options to integrate with Strava and Google fit. Neither work. Not worth $50 maybe $25 for the alarm or call notifier. Would not recommend

    • Cheers for the update Snoovey
