  • Qs for first timer:
    1. A Free Flexiroam X SIM Microchip with every Starter Kit order placed up until the end of the Flexiroam 09.09.19 Special Sale. Just add an extra microchip to your shopping cart and the discount will apply automatically.
Do I need to order online for this?
    2. I want to buy some data for >90 days, but I dont know the exact date of travel yet. How do I order foreign Local Data Plan?
    3. If I order a 3in1 SIM, the bonus SIM Microchip can only be used on my existing SIM. Can it be peeled off and used on another SIM if I was going to change my main SIM provider?
    Thanks!

    • Hi Jamesx,

      Thanks for the questions.

      1. Yes, you will have to order from our website. Via the link: https://callcloud.com.au/products/flexiroam-x-global-roaming…

      2. It can be tough if you don't know the exact date of travel, however if you know the approximate travel dates, you can take a guess. If you travel dates differ, you can always cancel the Data Plan (from within the Flexiroam X App). The value of the plan will be returned to you as credit, that can be used to purchase another plan. At 90%, it's probably worth the punt, and some of the larger plans offer 24/30 day validity which might give you a bigger window. That said, I don't know what plans will be eligible yet.

      3. I've had customers successfully do this, however we don't recommend it! Flexiroam offer a microchip replacement "at their discretion" but they whack on you on the postage! We haven't formally offered to do the replacement -yet, but it is something we will look at, and if so, we would only charge the USD$2 (~$2.90 that AusPost charge us for Tracked postage).

I hope this helps, if you have any other quesitons, please let us know.

      Regards,

      James

      • I bought via website 2 for US$10, then in the app there's a 5 SIMs for $10 offer. I'd take that for my family instead if knew before hand. Recommend others to consider before jump on the website 2 for US$10 offer

        • Hi James,

Make sure you check the total price of the in App purchases with Flexiroam! (including postage)

Also, my offer isn't for a SIM, it is for a Free X Microchip which is valued at USD$10 + postage (if purchased via the App).

The Starter Kits we sell aren't the same as Flexiroam's. Our's include 100MB of Global Data (valid for 360 days). Flexiroam's do not.

(Yes I appreciate that you may or may not value this data, however if you buy the equivalent Global Data from the Flexiroam App it will cost much more).

Just wishing to clarify that we aren't ripping people off here.

Thanks for your order, if you would prefer to refund and purchase directly from Flexiroam you are free to do so.

          Cheers,

          James

  • Interested but the Japan link doesn't work.

    • Thanks for the heads up!

Had to punch this deal out a bit quickly today, so I'll amend it now.

      Cheers!

My goodness. Can you at least at a TL;DR to your post? I just aged a couple of days getting through all that.

    • +1

hahaha sorry. It's very difficult to cover off all the nuances of the the product without writing "war & peace".

I try to provide as much info as I can so people don't have to ask questions! Ah well, damned if you do and damned if you don't!

I guess youre paying for 90% off with "time served"

      Cheers!

    • "Valid For purchases within the Flexiroam X App only"
    • "You can check out securely with: PayPal, Visa, Mastercard, Amex & Apple Pay"

How do you pay for the Local Data Plans using PayPal within the Flexiroam X App? Or is that only applicable for the ordering of starter kits from CallCloud?

    • Hi want to,

Ahh yess.. My bad. Sorry, was in a rush getting this one up! I'll correct it now!

      Thanks for the spot!

      Cheers,

      James

  • Hi,

I noticed recently that the 70% off for >90 day prepay is gone (eg. For Japan) so it doesn't work out that cheap anymore. Any idea if this is actually gone and we'll have to wait for deals like this to get a decent price? I bought a few Sims to make use of the 70% off but now slightly regretting it.

    • Hi frogduck,

The 70% Off for >90 Days has been reduced to 30%. We also recently provided an additional 20% Off Code to all customers that subscribed to our mailing list, which at least got somewhere near the previous level of discounting.

I believe this 90% Off offer is largely in response to the pleading we've been doing on behalf of our customers and it trumps the 70% anyway.

Japan is included in this 90% Off offer, so if you have your SIM setup and App installed you should see the plans become available from tomorrow morning at 10am AEST.

I believe the Japan Plan will go like hot cakes, so make sure you get on early!

As for pricing going forward, I know they typically follow the world in terms of providing great offers on all the landmark online sales dates, so the best advise I can give is to keep your notifications turned on or subscribe or your mailing list of FB pages

      I hope this helps.

      Regards,

      James

  • If I buy the starter kit with credit included, will I be able to use that credit during tomorrow's sale?

    • Hi Fozbeuin,

I have queried Flexiroam on this, and am awaiting a response. At this stage, I'd suggest not proceeding on that basis. I am happy to take an order for a starter kit and refund the equivalent difference in pricing should this be the case.

Alternatively, I'm happy to take the order with credit and refund the balance if it turns out to not be usable for tomorrows sale.

      Thanks for the question!

      Cheers,

      James

  • Can you buy multiple starter kits and link them all to the 1 account eg so I can manage my whole family of 4 using the 1 Flexiroam app>

    • Hi Bigray,

No, unfortunately you can't. However there are a few ways around this.

You can create multiple accounts (1 for each SIM). You can use different emails, phone numbers, social media accounts etc.

You can then login/out of these accounts on your device to manage their usage. Not perfect but it works.

Alternatively, you can share data from your account to their accounts, so they need not have to access the app. This works best with a conventional SIM Card, as it doesn't need the app to cuntion. You just configure the APN of their device to 'flexiroam' and they are good to go. If they run out of data you can just share more to them.

I hope this makes sense/clarifies things for you.

If you have any other questions, I'm happy to help right up until the aussies win the ashes tonight!! ;)

      Cheers,

      James

      • I tried doing this and after three I keep getting the error message, you have received the maximum number of registrations with this device.

        • Hi Mr Hyde,

I've never encountered that before, it must be a new limitation they hae put in to stop rotrting! ;)

It shouldn't present too much of a problem though.

As long as you can create an the 4th+ account on another device, you should be able to still login to as many accounts as you want from your primary phone/device, so that you can then manage them.

Thanks for letting me know about this limitation, and apologies for the inconvenience. If you want to refund any of your SIMs just let me know.

          Regards,

          James

          • @Flexiroam: I'll figure out some way of registering the final account.

Interestingly, I also tried using a Second space installation of the app; thinking that is a different profile on the same phone and the app still detected it as being an attempt to register a fourth account on the same device.

It must be passing on a device id to the central server where they can then limit the registrations. I wonder what would happen if I lose one of the SIMs and need to de-register it from the phone?

            • @MrHyde: Very interesting!

They did add a menu item in recently "X Manager" on the menu. I believe this is to manage lost and replacement SIMs.

              Thanks for the valuable input.

              Cheers,

              James

    1. What's the difference between flexi roam and call cloud?
    2. Using an e-sim, I assume an iphone XR bought in Australia would work on USA (AT&T/Sprint) mobile networks?
    • +1

Flexiroam are the network operator (like Telstra). CallCloud are the distributor (like Woolies or Coles) but hopefully we add a bit more value than they do. :)

Flexiroam slug you a fair whack on postage, and in the case of this promo, they won't be able to get the SIM to you in time for you to get the discount!

We also have exclusive discounts given to us from time to time that are only for our customers. This one, is open to all Flexiroam customers (well the 90% one is). The microchip is a CallCloud only thing.

      Thanks for the question!

      Cheers,

      James

      • Thanks! For question 2…? 😊

  • Following on from the above question, can I share data between multiple Sims on the same Flexiroam account?

  • Sorry, still trying to figure out who to use this.

Think of me as a complete newbie with Flexiroam/CallCloud. I am going to India at end of December. That is 90+ days away. What do I need to do to take advantage of this deal?

    • Hi Mr Hyde,

Assuming you are not already a Flexiroam customer, you will need to purchase a Flexiroam X Starter Kit and have your account setup at 10:00am AEST tomorrow.

The you can purchase the Data Plan from within the Flexiroam App.

      I hope this helps.

      Regards,

      James

      • Hi James,

Thank you that helps. Do I need physical possession of the SIM card from the Starter Kit in order to have the account setup?

        Regards,
        MrHyde

        • Sorry, ignore my message. Read through the post slowly and the information is there. :)

          • @MrHyde: Hi Mr Hyde,

Sorry for the information overload. Trying to give everyone the best chance to get the discount at very short notice!

            Cheers,

            James

  • +1

Looked good till I saw the 90 days out clause.

No good, with 78 days to go.

    Missed again.

    • Hi pringles,

Sorry you missed out. Make sure you keep an eye out here or subscribe to our milaing list FB face for any other upcomign specials!

      Cheers,

      James

    • I’ve missed out for my nearest upcoming trip. It IS a bit confusing because the pricing links OP has given us are for trips less than 30 days out.

      • Hi voteoften,

I'm sorry for the confusion. The links above allow you to select <30, 30-89, >90 day price bands. (Via the dropbox)

You are correct that they display the ,30 day pricing 1st. This is because the 90% off will be off these prices. (Well technically it will be off Flexiroams pricing shown in their App, but my prices are set to mirror theirs!

The best way to find out what pricing will be is to download flexiroams App. (I appreciate people don't want to download an app to check pricing, hence why I've gone to the painstaking task of putting them on my website.

I hope this clears things up a little.

        Regards,

        James

        • Hi James,

You would have to be one of the most proactive reps on ozbargain. 💐🤗. Your company’s product configuration is very complex. 🙄. That said, I’ll be buying tomorrow.

          Thanks

          • @voteoften: Thanks for the kind words!

            Watching cricket helps!

It's not my fault blame Flexiroam!!

I guess the complexity is a blessing and a curse. It probably makes me mad for trying to sell such a complex, low value product!!

            Cheers,

            James

  • If I order an eSIM pack, I don't need to wait for your physical package to arrive, correct? I fly out on Wednesday.

    • 100% correct.

And I don't have to stuff an envelope. win:win!

      • +1

Thanks mate - ordered! Now hopefully I can get my order setup before the sale starts tomorrow. Cheers.

  • If I'm going to Japan in January, what do I need to do to get this to work (what do I need to buy)? And will this give me similar performance to buying a sim in Japan?

    • Hi exc,

You will need to purchase a Flexiroam X Starter Kit from us. (we're including a bonus microchip starter kit with each order).

I'll send through a barcode via email.

You'll have to download the Flexiroam X App

      Create an account

And link your starter kit to your account by scanning in the barcode I provide.

Choose your Japan Data Plan from the in App Daa Plan purchase option.

I've used it in Japan before and it worked really well.

      Cheers,

      James

      • So I need to pay $10 for a sim card in the hope that the discounts are for what I need? Is that correct?

        • Hi exc,

You can wait until the sale opens if you wish. I'll be updating the post as quickly as I can, and hopefully your fellow OzBargainers will be too!

I'm offering a free microchip with every SIM/microchip/eSIM that is purchased, so even in the absence of the 90% Off it's a pretty good deal.

But of course it is up to you.

          Cheers,

          James

          • @Flexiroam: With the bonus sim - is it possible to get a bonus 3-in-1 sim instead? I'd like my family to use one as well to share the data and I'm not too interested in the bonus microchip version - as I'd rather just completely replace the sim card so as not to have a random glitch and have it switch to my normal sim.

            • @exc3113nce: Hi excel,

I'm sorry I can't at the moment as my normal SIM stocks are just too low. It's quite likely that when I'm restocked I'll run another promo on them, but at the moment I just can't.

As for the glitch, yes, its common fear many people have (and probably why I've got so many microchips and not normal SIMs).

I won't say it couldn't happen 100%, (as nothing is life is certain), but once you've used it you will understand why it can randomly switch back to your home SIM.

              Cheers,

              James

  • Hi, I'm going to Italy next year with my brother and was thinking of getting two 24 days/10GB packs. Am I right to just get the one starter kit for the both of us given that there is a bonus microchip starter kit with each order? We will be using an iPhone 6s and iPhone 7

    • Ho Woho,

      Yes that will be fine.

Please note, I don't know what Plans will be available for each country. I do know that the countries I have posted will have the discount though.

Each account can purchase 3 x plans, so just keep this in mind (in case the 10GB plans aren't available).

The sales goes live at 10am AEST, so I'll update this deal as soon as see whats becomes available!

Also, Italy will sell fast so make sure your are ready!!

      Cheers,

      James

  • "From within the Flexiroam X App, select the plans with 9/9 Sale tag and select a travel date that is 90+ days later. No discount code is needed."

hmm…within the app, chose date 27 dec 19 for local japan data and all i see is 30% off max. not sure where the 90% off packs are.

    • ah. in above comment, it was mentioned 10am aest. should have mentioned that in the main post clearly

      • Hi allmails,

Sorry it wasn't as clear as it could be. It's the 1st time I've posted a deal in advance of it becoming live, and I was just in hurry to get it out to people as quickly as I could.

Anyway, looks like you are ready to go!

No doubt I'll get a flood of orders once this things actually opens!!

        Cheers,

        James

  • Janes, Di you know if “the americas “ plan will be included in the sale? On the app, it’s jumbled up with the other countries. Thanks 💐

  • Hi voteoften,

No, Americas I'm afraid! I would have been all over it if it was!!

    Cheers,

    James

  • +1

Grabbed a Japan 7GB/24 days for the New Year…. $4.90 US. Perfect.

    • +1

Same here. Also note that the 90% off only applies for plans with 5GB or more, making them cheaper than the 500MB/1GB/3GB plans.

  • +1

Fabulous. Sorted out all of my known future roaming for awhile.

  • I assume I can purchase more than one data plan to extend to a longer period, am I right?
i.e. 3 5G date for 24 days will give me 72 days with 15GB in total.

    • Hi James,

Yes you can, but to be clear the unused data from plan a won't 'rollover'.

Global Data Plans do 'rollover' but they are way more expensive and not what we are talking about here.

      Cheers,

      James

  • Doesn't seem like any good deals on India, shame as was looking for something when travelling in November.

    • Hi Derrick,

Unfortunately the 90% Off deal is only for plans purchased >90 days in advance.

      Cheers,

      James

  • I will stay in Taiwan for 40 days from Jan to Feb. Can I buy one plan for 24 days and buy another one to extend in mid of Feb to extend days? Will the data be added together if the first one hasn't finished yet?

    • Hi Hunter,

Yes you can. The data won't be added together though. The best thing to do will be stagger the plans so that the 1st once is consumed, but you don't run out.

The 1st Plan will always be used 1st

      I hope this helps.

      Regards,

      James

  • Question on Flexishare.

I have purchased 4 SIMs - so if I buy one 5GB plan; does that mean I can share that 5 GB across all 4 users - so I don't need to buy a plan for each user?

    Regards,
    Mr Hyde

PS: A really big thumbs up for your customer service.

    • Yes you can! Flexishare is AWESOME!

  • When a plan is cancelled in the app, the amount refunded goes to the wallet as a credit. Is there a way to be refunded back to my credit card?

    • Hi dreamerman,

Unfortunately no, it can only be refunded as credit (valid for a year).

At 90% Off if youre stcuk with a plan, I'd probably we willing to take it off your hands!

      Regards,

      James

      • Thanks James, when does the one year validity starts from? Is it from the purchase date (a few weeks ago) or intended use date (Dec this year)?

        • I believe it is from the date of cancellation (I.E. wehen the credit is applied)

It doesn't really matter as the credit validity resets with each additional data plan purchase.

So, in effect you could purchase another plan, then cancel it and so on.

          I hope this helps!

          Regards,

          James

  • if i am travelling to a few European countries consecutively and the plans purchased for each country overlapped in terms of expiry and start dates, will that impact connection to the later country visited?

    • The Plans are distinct, and won't work in countries they can't work in, so no.

I think this answers your question?

      Cheers,

      James

      • i understand plans are distinct. so if i have purchased 1 plan for spain starting from 9-25 april and another plan for austria starting from 14-29 april, i presume the period where the 2 plans overlapped should not disrupt my reception/connection when i move from spain to austria on 14th onwards? i.e. do i need to early terminate my spain plan by 14th april so that my austria plan can function properly.

        • Hi allmails,

You don't need to worry (or do anything) it will be completely fine!

Any unused data from the Spain data plan will just sit in there until the plan expires (it can't be cancelled once active).

Once you land in Austria, the data from the Austrian Data Plan will start depleting.

The cool thing is if one of your travel party remained in Spain (and had a Flexiroam SIM) you could send your unused Spain data to them (even if you were in Austria).

          Enjoy your trip!

          Regards,

          James

  • Hey James, can the start date on one of these cheapie data plans be brought forward a week? Thanks 💐

    • EDIT: Sorry, wrong thread this discount has finished :(

      Hi voteoften,

I'm not quite sure what you are asking. The discount is valid for plans starting now until 30 days from now (or 31 if you buy it before it ends at 10:00am our time tomorrow).

The longest plan duration for most of Fleixroam's Local Data Plans are 24 Days (a few are 30).

So, if you are travelling in the next 55 Days you can gain some or all of the 45% discount benefit.

Plans beyond 30 days are discounted by 15% beyond 89 days 30% as standard.

If you have already purchased a plan at a higher rate, and are wanting the discount, you can cancel your plan for credit and the re-buy it with the discount.

Anyway, I hope this helps, the discount is from Flexiroam not CallCloud, we just have the ability to quickly get new customers setup they can take advanatge of the discount.

      Cheers,

      • Hi James,

I bought a France plan under this AWESOME sale and it starts on 9 May 2020. I now realise I will also be in France on 27 April 2020. I think I bought like a 24 day plan. Do you know if I can change the start date from 9 May to 27 April , so both days are covered? Both are more than 90 days out. Thanks for responding. 💐🙏

        • Hi voteoften,

I doubt given the size of the discount that Flexiroam will provide any flexibility on moving plans now that the deal has expired. The best I can suggest is that you keep an eye out for future promos.

Failing that, you'd be looking at a smaller plan (say a 15 Day one) to get you through.

That said, it is worth giving it a try! Send an email to [email protected] and see what they say.

          Cheers,

          James
