      For me personally I'm interested in my total energy usage for the year so paying an extra $15 to find out is worth it to me.

  I bought a couple of brilliant ones from Bunnings for 15 each, thought they work fine, doubt I would ever check the power usage on a couple of lamps. but it's great to have all the lamps turn on when I get home and tell google I'm home. wasn't the cheapest but the fact I didn't have to wait for delivery and could return them any time was worth paying an extra 3 dollars for.

    My hunch is that tplink has the best software and implementation of an energy monitoring solution for single plugs and outlets.
