do you have to use so much caps?

$2.80 is not much of a discount for short dated chocolate. the supermarkets regularly sell cadbury blocks at or below this price. eg $2.49 at supa iga qld this week.

saw this for $1.50 at Target Morley (WA) while waiting at the checkout

  • +2

Cheaper to get fresh ones from Coles & Woolies when they're on sale every other week…

if the best before date is about to expire, they were probably made early last year…

Price includes delivery however- and how often do you see cadbury for below $3.00 these days? not often!

    • +4

nonsense. $2.49 at supa iga qld this week.

      • +1

and they probably don't expire next week either…

      yes often…

mmm. i was sceptical about short dated stuff initally too, but i hoonestly can't tell the difference in the taste. :)

    • +3

      I can! :-)

      • +2

something a couple of years older is definitely not going to taste the same…

      *honestly

salespeople didn't do too well in terms of trusted professions… I wonder why ???

  • Supermarkets still run the $5 for 2 promotion on and off, which is when I usually buy some to keep. Considering these are nearing expiry, not a good deal.

  • I really don't think almost stale chocolate that can be had for a very similar price from a supermarket is a bargain.

Anyone else wonder why a store called discount chocolate is selling canned fish? :P
Also, cheaper for most on special at super market or IGA etc not including postage.

  • +3

As others have noted, extremely short-dated chocolate at this price is not a bargain; even with free delivery, sorry OP!

This comes from a person who actually really likes the taste of cadbury when it's gone white on the outside & crumbly inside too! ;)

    1. This blocks often go for $2.50-$3 each

    2. This exact product is on clearance at quite a few supermarkets anyway.

  • Next deal please.

The shortcake bar of plenty is $1.50 in Target SA too. IMO this chocolate is quite wierd tasting anyway. I did a taste test/survey from Cadbury before it was released & I really didn't like it and I'm a chocoholic. It has to be pretty bad for me not to eat it.

  • +2

what a rip off. I would only pay $1 per block considering that supermarkets regularly sell fresh blocks for between $2 and $2.50

  • No bargain. I live in Sydney. Our local IGA has fresh 200-220g Cadbury blocks available this week for $2.49ea. Doesn't include postage, of course, but also doesn't come with the risk of receiving half-molten chocolate from a hot delivery van.

  • Ok, fair cop- will have to do a serious price revision on this one. very glad a huge consignment wasn't purchased from the supplier. :S

Still, this idea of "fresh" blocks is a major furphy. Chocolate needs to be packaged incorrectly, or stored incorectly over a period of time before the taste becomes affected to any great extent. It really does need to be 4 years+ old before it begins tasting quite odd.

95% These blocks havent even begun going white yet! will take another 9 months for that to happen!

Why carry the herring? a supplier also distributes them, and it's very tasty- they came in the same pallet!

Austpost delivery is generally very safe at this time of year- its only jan/feb that there is the risk of molten blocks!

  • +2

Dimmeys has them for .99 cents in their catalogue this week.

  • yep.. wouldnt pay much more than $1 a block shipped
