I think most people don't realize this. It surprises me that Boost doesn't promote this a bit harder.
The other advantage of auto-recharge is that your unused data will rollover to the next month.
Just to reiterate a post in the original Tightarse post - rollover only applies to the following month and does not function like a databank.
This is a dealbreaker for me so thought it might bear repeating.
who on prepaid that uses telstra lets you databank?
ALDI
I am with boost, might make the switch, Did not know you can bank. Thanks very much for the information.
Aldi is on Telstra's wholesale network. Boost uses the actual Telstra network. If you ring/chat with Boost, you're talking to Telstra employees. After you'll get a survey from Telstra.
Boost is Telstra.
@PainToad: But without bonus Telstra features like databanking and free AFL etc
Woolworths mobile also
Belong too
I was speaking with boost on live chat a couple days ago and was told you can databank upto 200gbs, and that bonus data is included as well
Also it never expires if you top up before the expiry each month, eg set up an auto recharge
Think that’s only the case with the 6&12 month plans.
Anyone know for sure?
Actually looks like there’s no rollover on the longer plans and the monthly plans make it clear rollover is “to use in next recharge if you recharge before expiry”.
Have just been on the live chat with boost
Dan: Hi I am just wondering how does roll-over data work?
Gerald: I see. Your roll-over data will work once your current available data is exhausted. It's like a back up bank which stores all your unused data before so in the future when you need it. You'll be able to get that.
Dan: Ok does it expire and how much data can you bank
Gerald: Yes. It expires after 6 months if you didn't recharge. Up to 200gb
Dan: Ok but if you recharge every month before the date that u need to recharge will it expire?
Gerald: No it wont
@dandealsau: Well ok, good luck - that's very different response to the chat I had just prior to posting.
assuming this is in responce to aldi mobile lastest deals
I might be confused but the $40/month is $20 w 45gb/month (30+15).
Link: https://boost.com.au/shop/40-prepaid/
Isn't this cheaper?
For the first month, yes. After that its 40 a month.
Unless you want to sim swap, its probably not worth doing.
I see!
Or get the $40pm one for $20 to get 45GB then just recharge it with $20pm thereafter
The promo states that "$40 PREPAID SIM NOW $20" which means when you activate a new account buy a SIM, in other words it's only $20 for the first month. But you could start on this offer then move over to the $30 plan after the first month.
I brought that $30 boost sim pack at Coles yesterday for $15!:) On sale till 09/09/19
Yeah I got one too. Testing Boost to see if I want to switch, glad I have a dual sim to test these things. Yay for Oneplus 7 pro.
Does the $30 boost sim pack come with a 3-sized sim? or dyu have to purchase the $2 sim?

Contains international information and a table of all the different plans, sizes, plan length etc.
I recently paid $185 for a 12 month catch connect sim and get 375gb. Works out to be $15.41 for 31gb per month, with the usual unlimited calls and text, plus 500 international minutes over the year. Now that's a bargain….
@bighorse - Do you mind sharing, how you managed that?
Catch connect had 50% off their sim deals not that long ago, plus cashrewards had $20 cashback when signing up. The plan is normally $410 so I managed to get it down to $185 after cashback
I didn't know this. I figured auto-recharge was useless for this reason. But now I see it in the FAQ:
