There has to be a fairer way to do this….

Just builds up more resentment for eBay in my eyes.

    • +2

600 units at 50% off would be better and fairer. Then only those that really want the items would buy and not just the re-sellers or the FOMO crew.

  • +4

Ebay you can shove all other junk you have for sale up where sun don't shine. I'm out.

  • what happen to this one? AU $275.00 1 02-Sep-19 14:05:26 AEST

  • +1

Well that was shit. How the hell did people actually find that listing within the time frame?

    • +3

People found it before the sale went live. You need to:
      a) Find a seller listing it at the correct price ($275 in this case)
      b) Out of those sellers, look for sellers who mysteriously pull their existing listings close to sale time
      c) F5 the living hell out of their new listing and pray.

    • People found it early today. I was watching it but then someone posted the link that was in stock. Classic misdirect.

      • +1

Had the right one in my watch list and that scumbag mislead me.

    • +6

You had to guess the listing
You had to guess the code
You had to be lucky to win this competition

      • Even 20 seconds in, code was not getting applied for those who had items already found and in cart. It was showing "cannot be applied to this item" most likely because even in those 20 seconds items were already gone.

        • There was multiple listings, you had to guess the right one. If you chose the wrong one then you had the "cannot be applied to this item" message.

im having a hell of a day, 400 dollars worth of stuff for $40. those bose earphones sold out in like 30 seconds flat

  • How to cancel ebay plus?

  • Yeah I don't get it… where did you guys find the link??

  • +9

Bose deal never shown up though keep refreshing screen.

    • same… I'm confused as heck

    • I am going to file complaint at ACCC message me if you wanna join.

  • +5

So do people have a pre-link to the page that it will be sold on? I literally refreshed the 'deals' page and starred at the spotlight item and it never changed for BOSE.

Yes the page was reloading on refresh but it just never popped up?

    • had the same issue :(

      • u guys need to read the1000 prev msg. u need the exact product link and code

    • +1

      Real simple.

The prices are displayed in the post description, you search the eBay site for the price that matches, it'll come up as a sponsored post because it's via eBay plus.

If there are several listings of the same price, you put in the code (ie PSOUND20) and it'll come up with a message that the code cannot be used yet on the correct listing.

  • +2

    no fun
only saw the quilt deal… kept refreshing but nothing changed…

    • I am going to file complaint at ACCC message me if you wanna join.

      • How?

  • +2

I cancelled my Ebay plus subscription. RIP Ebay Plus

  • +1

Ah… the ol bait and switch. I did look at their page and the other was not listed. Oh well can't have everything haha.

  • +3

This is bullshit. I had the headphones in my cart (correct ones) and I had been adding the coupon constantly (every ~2 sec) for 5 mins before and after and it never applied.

    • How did you get the coupon?

      • I got both the correct link and correct coupon here (OzBargain) but unfortunately had PayPal as my default setting so missed out thanks to Paypal,
And yes I got it to the cart but it blocked me after that.

    • Not sure how you had the correct ones in your cart as they weren't available until the code was active

    • I don't think you had the correct one man. The correct listing was out of stock until the sale went live. Couldn't have had the right one in your cart.

      • It was the one from titan_gear, it was added to ebay ~15 mins before 2pm. If I go back to my cart, it's showing "You missed out on some items this time, but there are still more great deals out there."

        • The correct one had been up for ages. It just showed zero stock, they updated the stock at 2:00.

        • Same here… i think may be issue was that we had payment by default set to PayPal and somehow it kept on thinking code is for paypal and never allowed it to be through. We should have it set to credit card may be then we could have been lucky.

        • Yeah there were two listings from titan gear. One with stock, one without, the correct one didn't have stock, so you can't have had it in your cart.

After almost 8 years at Uni, I would finally like to say thanks to Eduroam for always providing a solid internet connection - scored a Sodastream, Google Hub and Bose… #allinadayswork

    • looks like you won this round well and truly!

      • +4

but he has to pay for 8 years of uni though

    • You may as well should buy a lotto ticket, seems like luck is on your side today :P

  • Shafted twice by looking at the wrong item. FML.

  • +8

Can these posts be banned please.

    Absolute waste of time.

    • +1

      Competition section, I think!

Perhaps a rule about over a certain percentage off + under a certain quantity = competition?

  • +1

hey, how could you get the link?

  • +8

My spotlight deal never changed too. Kept showing the stupid royal quilt.

  • +1

how is it reasonable, only 83 people viewed it, but 300 sold out.
    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Bose-SoundSport-Free-Wireless-In…

    • This is a eBay Plus scam for sure.

    • I am going to file complaint at ACCC message me if you wanna join.

  • I didn't want them anyway. My QCY T2C's are probs way better…

  • I got my tin foil hat on but I've been refreshing the page to get the bose and not once did I even see the spotlight come up let alone even a button to buy them. I was one of the few who got airpods last time so fair fair

  • I got the Bose. All you have to do is guess what listing it’s gonna be and guess the code. If you are reloading the deals page… you aren’t gonna get anything.

    • +1

But how ? That particular listing didn’t even show up when I searched ebay for “Bose SoundSport Free Wireless In-Ear Headphones” and “Bose SoundSport Free Wireless In-Ear Headphones - Triple Black” until it was listed here as soldout.

      • Yeah idk. I got the link around 12:30

      • Someone posted the link to the inactive listing many comments back. Someone said it was actively briefly. when the code didn't work for the active listing I refreshed the inactive listing I had open and managed to paste in the code and checkout.

      • I am going to file complaint at ACCC message me if you wanna join.

    • We followed the same, item was 5 minutes in advance in cart, code kept on coming as not activated yet. Pressed button for code again at 14:00:03 and it would change the message to "code cannot be applied to this item". Went back to check item and it was already gone.

Wondering is your payment was set to PayPal or Credit Card. Seems like those who had set to PayPal suffered.

      • I had got them with PayPal

  • Wow, I was wondering why ozbargain website ran like shit just then (around 2pm).

I bet it was you lot spamming refresh on this deal

  • +3

Total scam. offer did not show up in the spotlight deal section as stated.

    • +1

Someone mentioned above, only 83 views but 300 sold.

  • -2

Omg I m so lucky today

Was able to grab Google home hub and the earbud.

    Am I still dreaming ??

    Thank you OP
    You made my day

    • Please take into account the feelings of others.

  • How do you even find the items?

    • First I searched for the item with the exact price mentioned here and added to cart way earlier when it showing in stock
Then around 1:59:00 proceed to checkout, put the code, applied it and confirm and buy

      Done

      • I had the same idea, but that particular listing didn't show up for me when I searched for the exact title before 2 !!!! This is rigged.

  • I'm out

  • How the F did the base headset sold out? I kept refreshing page since 1:55 and it never shown up once on the page not even at 2pm.

  • +1

it was never show up on main page, and dunno how they sold out already

  • First link was posted by someone on OzBargain early on by a few hours. Then someone posted the second link as it was just added to the seller's page. Anyone looking at the second link got shafted.

    • I had both links opened just in case. Was a high chance of the first link being correct as when the person posted it i was checking the listing history that pointed to it being the likely one. Also when i was on it and refreshing it hours before the sale the listing went live and you could add it to cart for about 15 seconds before the listing went back to out of stock. I think the seller was setting it up and testing it.

  • Something tells eBay will still have Nespresso stock at 5:59…

  • +6

    Fake sale

  • +2

With the Google Hub listing I had the wrong one open (specific colour).

With the Bose it was the opposite, I had the multiple colour one in triple black in my cart.

I was originally going to leave the specific colour listing in my cart but didn't wanna be burn the same way.

    Lesson learnt lol.

  • +3

Some real bitter folk here who missed out. Just because you kept refreshing every second doesn't entitle you to anything, we've all been doing the same, just the luck of the draw…

  • Missed out on the hub and towels but got the Bose. Thing is a real waste of time chasing. Glad I did get something good out of it though.

    • How is it a waste of time? You come back every hour for 5 minutes.

      • My job involves me walking around a factory floor. Means I keep having to make a long walk back to my desk to play a game of refresh. Also browse comments for clues that people have posted.

        • -1

Still not a waste of time….

        • Your boss would probably agree that it is a waste of time

  • How do you even know which link!! Useless

  • +4

I have been waiting since 1:58pm and the bose thing never appeared on SPOTLIGHT DEAL page and 5 mins later on the main page it says sold out.

  • +5

(profanity) EBAY and (profanity) this PROMO BS…..The deal is not even updated on their spotlight page! WTF….how did everybody managed to get one?

    • But you upvoted the deal?

      • he upvoted when it was first posted..

    • i suspect 300+ people (ozbargainers) found the correct link before the hour and sold out in literally seconds as the hour changed. Meanwhile the page updater for deals page probably noticed it was already sold out so didn't even bother. lol

    • Click vote > revoke vote to remove your vote.

  • Welcome to the EBAY GUESSING GAME.

  • Sneaky with the links!
    Got one though.

  • What's so special about this pan (to make it worth $78 RRP)?

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-Anolon-Endurance-Open-Chefs-…

    Code: PCHEF20

    • Nothing imo. Would rather spend ~$90 on the Lodge cast iron set than $20 on that pan.

      • I thought so. Seems like there are only 4 items that are worth the effort.

The rest just look like fillers.

  • +6

"You've cancelled your eBay Plus membership"

  • +9

This is gold. People spending so much time trying to buy something they don't need and getting angry when they miss out on something they are not entitled to.

  • +2

LOL got tricked by their decoy listing

  • +1

I got a pair of the Bose headphones. All the confirmations came through. I feel like I won the lottery

    • Was it from the one with 10,000+ views and you had it in your cart on the dot of 2:00?

      • I got one too - it was a different listing that was marked as "Out of stock". Come 2pm the option to buy it became available. I think only like 80 people were watching it.

      • Na it was a different listing that showed no stock until 2:00, so you couldn't have it in your cart ready to go.

      • Lol I had two tabs open, both on checkout, on one tab I had the code entered, the second it hit 2:00pm I hit apply, quickly tabbed to the second page and hit f5 then went through checkout.

Plan worked somehow, just got lucky.

      • Yes, yes it was haha. Watching the listing with no stock. Not to mention the rest of my day wasted on trying to do the same for other items haha
