Has been significantly cheaper in the past if you aren't in a hurry and can stack with ebay discount codes through other sellers (obviously Harvey isn't one of them)

agree ebay codes come out every couple weeks, appliance central ebay are pretty hard to beat, would have been $1700+ delivery but ended last night can still use code POPPER10 comes to $1800 plus delivery

I bought the previous gen for slightly over $1400 via eBay code stacking In March. As above you can get much better deals on the current model semi-frequently.

But if you need a TV today, it’s an OK price.

  • How are these models under 2k anyway? I was after a 65" as we have been using a hand me down 42" lcd from 10+ years ago (when they used to have a big bump at the back)

I noticed a wide disparity between mid 1k 65" yet other models in the same samsung and sony brands that steetched from 2.5 to 4k. I would have thought provided they were smart tvs allowing android apps - net flix, Viki, ports for ps4 etc you were all set?

Is the huge price difference just an unneccessarily better processor, latest tech (OLED) etc?

Can be a big difference in colour and picture quality. You'll likely see motion blur on fast moving pictures like sports etc on the cheaper sets and the brightness and black levels won't be as accurate.
It's all subjective, some people will be happy with a cheaper TV and just want the size but I prefer quality over quantity. Not to say that this particular unit is good or bad, just my view.

If you're living near Sydney CBD, JB Hi-Fi Oxford Street has a few previous generation TV on clearance. I've just commented on the insufficient quantity thread with photo links.

I went in and asked, those are all floor stocks, i.e. demo TVs.

      • Yes that's true. I believe that getting an ex-display TV for those prices is still a good deal especially if the warranty is the same as the new ones and there are no major physical issues like scratches and stuff.

  • How's the viewing angle on this?

  • Does anyone else have the issue of the panel creaking when just turned on? Particularly on dark images.
