Been on the app for months now. Still a great deal!

    • +18

2 years actually. Although it used to be 50c cheaper in the beginning.

      • yep was $6.95 for ages

  • +4

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/406382

Get it via colonels table… don't forget to swap sides to suit.

    • yes, swap gravy for chips, and check your bag when you receive it. Staff sometimes gets too busy and just assumes chips & gravy

      • +7

they also half fill the chips

        • +5

or put 75% of one large chips instead of two regulars

  • +4

Yes, I have been utilising this meal deal for over 2 years now.

    • +3

      Username checks out lol

      • +1

        True OzBer there

  • +3

lol very old deal at least 3 years now.

PS. Just wondering from any KFC employees- they don't seem to have anywhere to put survey number on the receipts for free drinks and chips, yet they advertise it behind the receipt. do they not do them anymore?

    • +1

I've noticed that too. I write the order number (my receipts have my name, not the order #) and validation code on the top of the receipt and I haven't had any problems yet.

      • Is it same code format prior to the change? 5 digits starting with 8?

        • +1

That's been changing a bit. The most recent was only 4 digits starting with 2.

Not getting the potato and gravy again after learning:
"Employees have warned us to steer clear of the gravy, because it's made with the dregs from the bottom of the fryer.

"I recommend that you don't consume the KFC gravy," a former cook said.

"It is primarily made of the filthy oil that stores up on the bottom of the cookers over the day and is then served to customers the next day."

    • +11

This is pretty common, its the same as using the fat in the bottom of your Sunday roast to make Gravy.

Used to work for KFC a while back if you have any questions.

      • +3

what is the 7th spice of the 11 secret herbs and spices?

        • +2

          Salt

        • dried mustard

        • -1

Years ago there was an analysis of it. No significant levels of herbs and spices were found, it was just fat, salt, and pepper.

        • +1

          MSG

    • +9

That's kinda what gravy is. Not sure why this comes as a surprise to you. There's a reason why it's so good. Fried chicken pressure cooker oil can't be beaten for flavour.

      • Isn't the gravy/potato supplied from elsewhere? Or is it made instore?

    • +5

Thats how you make gravy, all the oil and juices at the bottom of the pan, thicken it up add a bit of spices.

    • +2

      mmmm dreeeeegs drool

    • +6

Like others said, thats how gravy is generally made. Frankly I'd prefer that to something shipped in.

I can't help but laugh when these articles pop up on news.com.au for Maccas and KFC. Using the phase "Former Cook" comes across as a way to mask the person is very likely a 17 year old whose sole kitchen experience is Maccas or KFC which they joined as their first ever job while studying at Uni and their 'expert' advice is purely an opinion formed around them not liking certain things on the menu. The same sort of articles will make the shocking revelation that a fillet-o-fish does not in fact contain a fresh piece of fish, as if it's a surprise to anyone that the people out back aren't filleting a barramundi that the store picked up that morning at the local market.

    • I worked at KFC for 8 years (2007-2015).

It's pretty common knowledge. The ingredients include the stuff caught at the bottom of the catcher (can't remember the name of it) from the OR chicken fryer mixed with about 2L of lukewarm water mixed well. On the side, you mix the gravy mix with warm water. After the initial mix comes to boil, you add the gravy mix to thicken it.

The chicken parts get strained out (at least, they should be) when they pour it into the bain marie.

Also there's a checkbox asking me to confirm if I'm associated with KFC Australia. I'm not anymore but I can probably answer a lot of BoH questions still.

  • +1

More importantly, KFC are trialling meat-free KFC in the USA.

    • +2

for the love of God please let it have some nutrients
in case another vegan parents decided to abuse their child by denying the baby proper nourishment

    • I presume this may be an attempt to cut costs?

      • +1

Also, an opportunity for a new market, but no doubt a means to cut costs. Like when McDonalds got rid of Chicken pieces, in favour of Nuggets?

        • +1

I've created a discussion post here

        • +2

I think Hungry's have the new market smarts with their vegan burger. They only trialed it for a short period in Melbourne and then it went nation wide. It replaced the veggie burger, so it still suits vegetarians and now vegans. It's a bigger net for clients and profits. McDs and KFC don't serve either vegetarian or vegan markets, unless a few large fries is lunch.

  • -2

Oh and just so you all no itโ€™s not real potato

    • +3

I don't know for sure, but it seems like dehydrated potato powder that has been reconstituted.

      • +1

yes this is correct.. Contract 38 mash from Simplot

  • +2

This is the only thing I buy from them… canโ€™t go wrong + free chips and drink.. so cheap

    • If only the 2 piece box had Potato and gravy (ie 2 sides instead of 1).

  • +4

You can order the double combo for $12.95. Eat it all yourself or share with a mate and works out to be $6.475 each for the real tight arses.

    • +4

You can be assured you will have a real tight arse after eating KFC. Body barely registers it as food so no poopin for days :P

    • Or treat it as 2 meals means 2 meals saved

  • +2

    KFC for dinner

  • +2

    Lunch sorted

  • Can I combine with the MACAs deal to make my heart even stronger?

    • +1

Just buy it, no one cares about health here

  • +1

When are they start doing lettuce burger like McDonald?

  • +5

The good old Burger Combo Deluxe. Before the app came out it was on shop-a-dockets for years and years for $6.95 IIRC

  • argh.. plumpton KFC forgot my potato & mash zzzzzz

  • +1

Pony up for bacon and cheese plus some pepper mayo on the Zinger. Winning.

    • +1

I always put like 5x hot sauce, usually comes out with the smallest drizzle at my local. Id easily put one of the 50cent tubs on each burger, so im always pissed lol.

  • +3

Using survey Zinger/original burger + regular chips and can of drink is $5.95 if you don't care about the potato and gravy

    • +2

Using survey Zinger/original burger + regular chips and can of drink is $5.95 if you don't care about the potato and gravy

This deal plus the survey is

      Burger
2x drinks (1 from meal, 1 from survey)
      2x sides (2 from meal)
      1x chips (1 from survey)

The two meal sides can be their salad (probably the most $$$), gravy, potato and gravy, coleslaw, or chips. I typically go with gravy and an additional chips.

So its 1.50 for three extra items.

      • +1

Please teach me wise ones. How do you combo this with a survey? ๐Ÿค” The app seems so clunky.

        • +2

Have to pay at store and get the attendant to add it

  • Too many times uncooked chicken. Done with you! Old man.

  • +1

This is my standard entree before the main (12 piece feed, 20 nuggets, large pepsi). It's good as you get to have all the different elements for one low price.

  • +4

To do a jv: "Where's the deal?". This has been available for so many years that I think it's just retail pricing.

  • Tasty, bought from Ormond Vic an hour ago

    Zinger burger wasn't fresh
    Chips weren't fresh
Sauerkraut was sealed and tasted like bad plane food
    Water was bottled

    So:
    - stale food
    - massive packaging waste (paper bag, burger paper, chip box plastic bottle, plastic container for "salad", unused napkin and fork in plastic bag, water bottle

    Yet:

    Curiously delicious! (Donald would approve)

  • +1

    Original price?

    • +1

      Original and zinger both ๐Ÿ˜

      • +1

I meant how much are you saving with this deal?

        • +1

          Thats the zinger.

    • +1

Yep, they just introduced a new pop-up today that advertises it when the app starts.

  • +1

    Hi Vik

  • +1

As much as I love KFC it is hard for me to go past Hungry Jack's Cheesy Cheeseburger now.

$2 for a decent burger is just too nice.

Buy a drink from coles or woolworths.

Chips are never worth it outside it is just insane compared to cooking your own.

But in saying that KFC zinger and other chicken fillet burgers are just too damn tasty but the value!!

    • Cheesy Cheeseburger is probably 1/3 the portion compared to a standard zinger burger..

      • +3

I had both on the same day to try it and 3 Cheesy Cheeseburgers definitely satisfied me more than 1 Standard Zinger Burger.

So the Cheesy Cheeseburgers definitely win over the Standard Zinger Burger for me.

        • quAlITY > qUaNTiTy

  • My go-to meal.

Honest question: are most of the people in this comments section morbidly obese?
The enthusiasm for fast food shown on every fast food deal posted here is so high and i genuinely wonder who is managing to to eat this stuff regularily and remain healthy?
I made a rule when i was a teenager to only eat fast food a few times a year, and even then i'm dissapointed with it most of the time.

    • +6

Not everyone has shitty metabolism. Thereโ€™s something called exercise.

      • Even if you don't exercise, there is also something called "dieting".

    • +1

So what if I hit gym and slay bargains.

      Except I don't gym.
      I'm bulking.

  • KFC isn't open 24 hrs like Maccas or HJs…

It's usually at those middle of the night times when it seems like a good idea

  • I didn't know about this deal, thank you Op.

  • It came 15.75 for me.
    What am i doing wrong?

I downloaded the app, added zinger burger, regular chips, regular potato&gravy and orange juice to the basket and it ended up being 15.75.

    • Its under Colonel's offers in the app.

      • Thanks mate, found it
