  • Why would anyone use this instead of their phone?

    • +1

The use is in the Title - SMS Broadcast Campaign.

Lots of use in business where you don't want people to contact you on your phone number (campaigns / spam, notifications, sending out verification codes from your website, etc).

Just think about all those computer generated SMS you receive from stores, reminders about that test result from your Dr, 2 step verification codes, politicians trying to get your vote…

Not really intended for personal use, but it's free - so OzBargainers will find a use.
Just expect to be Spammed - that's what this business does!

Clive palmer should be banned from this type of service!

Just send him 100 SMS as revenge!

    • Phones have fair use policy on bulk spam.
100 free is pretty pointless, the service is intended for spamming off a million.

  • Any deal on RoboCalls? Barnaby Palmer wants to know.

    • If you use an android phone, you can get a free dialer that does that, i use CallApp, which is really good, since it does a reverse lookup on phone numbers as they call, and records phone calls, so i lodge complaints on the "do not call register" every time a telemarketer calls me.

  • For scams like price won, ato refund etc…

  • At 2.5c US per SMS to Australia, these guys seem pretty cheap.

I'm currently using 5 Cent SMS and they're actually 5.5c per SMS once you include GST, so this is quite a bit cheaper.

Has anyone actually used these guys though - are they any good?

    • Agreed. We use Twilio at almost twice the cost of this. However, this service seems to be aimed squarely at marketing messages and doesn't seem to provide any API. That makes it useless for my use case.

The company seems to have been around for quite a while https://www.grep.sg/gt_company_profile/

If you scroll to the bottom of the page, it says that they do have an SMS API…

I sent a test SMS to myself half an hour ago and it still hasn't arrived.

    • For me it took 5 to 10 sec.

  • Pity there’s no 100 free tweets for the Donald
