Awesome game. Played it on Xbox One recently and loved every minute. Recommend playing with someone and taking turns in each area and working together to solve puzzles (there is no multiplayer mode so in single mode).

Personally loved it a hell lot more than Limbo.

  • +11

Amazing! These are two phenomenal games, unbelievable to see them included as Epic freebies. Unmatched I would say except for Subnautica and The Witness.

  • +4

Both of these games are incredible.
Inside was my game of the year (2017), along with Thumper. And that was the same year as Zelda: Breath of the Wild.

    Play these!

    • +1

Oooh really is Thumper good? I was interested in the look of it might have to give it a crack.

      • +1

Thumper is incredible! There is no other game like it. Relatively easy to start with, but if you want to work your way through and climb the leaderboard, it’s brutally tough. It’s such an art working out the ways to raise your points. I’ve sunk 170 hours into it so far…endlessly replayable! Amazing music!

        • +1

Sounds like my type of game I poured a decent amount of hours into Audiosurf. Will defo check it out now thanks for the recommendation.

  • +2

Inside is great, IMO the gameplay is not as captivating as Limbo but the ending is amazing.

  • +6

    Celeste for free is huge.

    • It's also getting a free dlc soon too.

  • +3

Normally don't care about the games Epic is paying to give you. But these are great games. Also Celeste barely gets discounted. Surprised it's actually being made free.

    • Both INSIDE and Celeste were also free as Games with Gold promo on the Xbox One.

      • +5

That's not free. You PAID for those games when you bought Xbox live gold. Here it actually is free. No money changing hand on YOUR end. Epic is paying to give these games to you.

Man console companies really messed with peoples heads with their subscription services… Although I will give you that IF you managed to get xbox live gold for free from Microsoft itself. Then it kinda is free if you get to keep them when the subscription expires after a trial.

        • +1

FWIW, I got 3 years of Xbox Gold Live AND Game Pass using MS Rewards points - a couple of minutes clicking and searching at work each morning (plus $1 to convert to Ultimate).

Yeah, time = money, etc. But it was 2min in the morning at work, part of my morning login routine. It's close enough to free for me! :)

        • +2

Good point. To me, it’s free because I consider these games an added bonus. I was paying for Xbox Gold before the Games with Gold promo was a thing.

    • There have been a few good ones. Subnautica, Axiom Verge, The Witness. I still haven't played the other freebies from there.

  • +4

I just wanted to say thanks for a continuous stream of freebie games. Buggered if I'll ever play them all, but that's Ozbargaining in the truest Ozbargainy sense.

    • +17

Yeah, excluding yourself from these free great games will really show them.

      • Sticking it to the man!

      • Going and purchasing the game from a good store will though.

    • I wonder if the GOG Galaxy 2.0 launcher will help sufficiently in this case. I think in theory if you use their meta-launcher you'll hardly ever need to actually use other ones. Pretty nice idea in my opinion.

    • A lot of these games can be launched directly. So you only have to deal with the launcher for login and to install. Typically I only log in every few weeks.

      • -4

        …or I just pirate it.

Probably faster downloads than Epic anyway.

        • +1

…and you get the added game of trying to recover your data after it's been trashed by a Crypto virus. Score!

          • @syousef: 1: Windows Sandbox is magic, I don't need a 3D accelerator for an indie game.

2: Still probably more secure than the Epic Games launcher since it's attempted to steal your data on multiple occasions but y'know.

            • @maybe a bot:

              1. Windows Sandbox, Sandboxie and the like aren't magic and have had bugs in the past.
              2. I don't think so. Ever spent a day trying to get rid of a virus, given up and reformatted? It takes one mistake to get infected. Running an installer off some pirate site counts as that move.
  • +1

Had been wanting these on switch but this will do (for Inside at least)

  • Bloody awesome game!

  • +3

Celeste is bloody brilliant. I tried and failed to get into it a few times, but when I went back the 3rd or 4th time it finally clicked with me and I played it all the way through to the end. Not an easy game, but a very good one.

Inside is also amazing. The last few minutes of that is just some the most ****ed up, bizarre **** you'll ever see in a video game. I still don't quite understand what I saw.

    • Spoiler alert. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inside_(video_game)#Theories

  • +1

    Nice find Lysander!
Limbo was free a few months ago so Inside completes my collection (same developers or company).

I have a huge list of games that I haven't even installed yet!!!

  • +2

Celeste is my 2018 indie of the year for sure, its so good.

  • +1

Ahhhhh just paid for and finished Celeste in the steam sale. Happened so many times with games that I recently bought.
That's okay though, Celeste was worth paying for. If you love platformers it's a must play!

  • +1

Inside is such a great experience. Such great commitment to creating the scene, and the progression to the nightmarish end is such a trip.

  • +2

Thanks for staying up until midnight every thursday to be first on these. You're a legend

    • +2

Thank you. Hope you enjoy the games. They are really giving away a lot of quality games. If they keep doing that people will have 60+ quality games at the end of the one-year giveaway cycle in their library - which should take me a long time to play through. ;-)

  • I don't see it free…it still shows as 28.95$ to add in cart

    • +8

Do you see the blue box at the beginning of the title of the deal above?
Please tell me what it says.

      • You could have pointed that out without the sarcasm, no?

        • +3

There really was not too much sarcasm and was still pretty nice. Comments from my parents, sister, friends or grandma would have been a lot more sarcastic and blunt.
Although really I do believe it is not too much to ask people to take an extra second to read. Nothing against this poster at all (and clearly there was no intention to "hurt' him or her) but this keeps coming up on deals - it seems people these days do not care to read diligently even if marked pretty clearly and big by Ozbargain.

          • @Lysander: Not everyone lives on OzB and it's easy to miss if you're not familiar.

I don't know if you mean your family are sarcastic to strangers or if it's sarcasm within the family (which is a whole different dynamic). I just didn't think it was needed here.

            • +2

@syousef: My family are not sarcastic to strangers but they do not react well to things like that - they do expect a bit of basic effort and reading is one of them. In that case their reaction is the same for everyone - strangers, family, friends etc.
And to be honest, all the people I know would react the same and would not be very impressed with things like that.

It has nothing to do with living on Ozbargain - it has to do with reading properly BEFORE saying something is not right.

My grandma always used to say (and we even had post-its in the house with this printed on it):

Before opening your mouth, turn on brain!

I think my grandma's motto sums it all up. ;-)

            • +1

@syousef: IN 6 DAYS printed in all caps, in blue, even before the title words, on both mobile and desktop browser
              no excuse!

              • -2

@payton: Yes Mr Perfect. Excuses vil not be tolerated! Execute him!

  • Inside is amazing. Looking forward to trying Celeste :D

  • this is a must get and PLAY game!

  • -3

I went on the online steam store and 'inside' is still at full price??

    • +1

It is on Epic store. Click the links for the Epic Store.Just click the picture/thumbnail.

  • +2

The deal is active but the Go To Deal link is only for Celeste. Here's the link to both.

    • Which is why op already put the link for Celeste in the original post.

      • There are two games: Celeste & Inside. The OP's link is only for Celeste, which is why I provided the link to both games. I hope that makes sense…

        • And the other link is on the op. What's wrong with clicking something else apart from go to link?

Op provided both links for both games. I hope this makes more sense.

          • +1

@baldur: Yes it does make sense and thanks for pointing that out.

  • +1

    got it thank you OP

  • Thanks OP! Just got it and with minimal fuss.

  • +1

A big thank you OP. 👍
