Viewsonic PJD5122 Projector (3D, DLP, 2700ANSI etc) - $349 Instore (Shipping from $7.94)

110

If you accept it for what it is (a budget/entry-level no-frills projector), this is a bloody good buy (IMHO) for the asking price.

  • Wow good one, bought several of these when they were >800 great allround projector, forget about the 3d

  • By Australian dollar rip-off standards this looks like a great buy otherwise shop overseas.

800x600 native res and no HDMI to be found.

Yes I know it is cheap but just putting those additional specs up for anyone that is interested.

    • -4

It's not a HT projector, 800x600 is fine, HDMI not required. Why not just add the other 10 or so specs that this thing doesn't have compared to a genuine high resolution HT projector? Pointless post.

AntMan didn't mention HT and didn't vote down.. and knowing the native resolution and inputs are steps 1 and 2 of buying a projector!

To counter your argument, 3D IS an HT feature… I can't think of an Office purpose for it…

      • full HD is first thing I look for in these sorts of products. No full HD, no dice. hehe :D I'm sure there's someone who'd find a use for this deal though!!

samsung blu ray players do 3D over hdmi from what i can tell, and some movies won't work unless it's hdmi V1.4, unless someone knows a BD player that does 3D over RGB?

  • How would this suit a small bedroom 3 x 3 metres? Would the low resolution be negated because of the small size of the projection?

    • +1

It would be okay, but this is a cheap DLP projector which means there will be no lens shift and only minimal zoom (1.1 means only 10% bigger or smaller). So placement is not very flexible. If you need to place the projector off to side so it projects on an angle to the screen/wall, you can use the digital keystone correction to shape the image but you lose resolution and lower image quality, and at 800x600 it is already low resolution.

If you place the projector in the right location, which would be either ceiling mounted or table mounted directly in line with the screen it is excellent value for money.

  • Can't Vouch for this particular product, but I've been using a dodgy little LED Projector in the small Bedroom for Months, and Love it - it is reminiscent of being at the Drive Ins! You're not there for the Quality, but for the Experience… and when it comes to a dark room, mattress, and bean bags scattered around, we have ourselves a Budget Theatre Room for under $300!
Kids love it! (Again, they aren't there for the Quality!) And it is literally what you're paying for at the Drive-Ins, so if you're happy with the Drive in Experience, then you'll be happy with an under $300 home projector!! *8vD IMHO

    • I can tell you this is NOT some crappy quality projector, while this is entry model, the quality much more superior than LED pocket projector (you can’t compare at all, LED pocket projector is not actually a "projector" more like a toy). The image quality you can expect similar to those in cinemas not the drive-in one

  • Another question: does this have component inputs? The specs say yes but I can't see any in the images.

    • It takes component through the VGA input. It has 2 VGA inputs so it can take 2 component inputs. You would need a component-VGA cable but these can be found for a few dollars.

Drive-in crap quality that's where it's at, just need a bjob…you can get a 42" plasma for $50 or so more and you will be able to see actors faces without fan noise! Might be a bargin but all the wrong features

    • 42" vs 120"
hi-res images look great, but massive screens are epic.

  • I just bought one

ITs a very very decent price.

TO get 3D to work you need to have the projector connected to your PC, similar to a set up like thjis

    http://www.nvidia.com/object/3d-vision-requirements.html

And the projector is a 3D ready display

    • ahh its the 120HZ that allows you to do the 3d,

not bad for the price, would be ok for watching normal DVDs

  • just note, that you can get the newer one (PJD5123) from amazon at the same price delivered.

I think the only difference is the new one has DLP link which is the TI tech for 3d glasses, soo it has no need for the nvidia glasses/pc.

but you prob still need a hdmi 1.4 to 3d dlp converter of some sort.. still new to me :)

    • while researching i accidently bought the one from amazon.. they do deliver.. luckily i was able to cancel it… i do not have a need for a projector yet.. and this 3d business looks too complicated.

btw this is an awesome bargain :)

This is a proper DLP projector not to be compared with some cheap LED pocket projector (more like toy).

We just clearing out the stock, RRP $999, but usually sell between $600-700. The cheapest on the market for full features projector like this would be around $500ish.

Our price $349 is a real bargain, the price on amazon is delivered to US only, just FYI projector sold in the US are 100-120V only 

    • i would have negged you as most projectors are switching eg 110 or 240, however, your right about the price and shipping othwise.

amps it seems are single voltage only for some reason which is dodgy!

  • You dont need HDMI to get 3D.

    You need education, like below

I see there is a rep here from the store, ie user 'olc'

Please have my item deliverd by Friday so I can play with it on the weekend ;)

    • Hey - Can you please post your comments on the product. I am also getting attracted towards the big screen.
