Breville The Rice Box BRC460 $71.20 + Delivery (Free with eBay Plus/C&C) @ Bing Lee eBay

Following the discussion in ChickenTalon's Tiger Rice Cooker deal, here's the Breville 'The Rice Box' which is a cheaper rice cooker to consider as an alternative. Some are willing to argue the Tiger is much superior, but I've had one of the Brevilles for quite a number of years and it's had plenty of use without any problems. It cooks rice just the way I like it, it's got several modes (Plain/Sushi, Fast Cook, Congee, Crispy), and we've even used it for quinoa and pearl barley, too. The non-stick coating hasn't lifted or scratched; having said that, we never use metal utensils with it and we've always hand-washed it, never in the dishwasher.

Credit to dealbot for the original 20% off Bing Lee deal.

          "Ignore the rice snobs…"

          As did you.

          Edit: Lol.

  • Honestly would pop the extra few dollars for the smart rice box.

I ordered the smart rice box today from the other deal,

      $95 so it's about $23 more.

This non-smart one doesn't seem to have fuzzy logic

        that sounds logical…

      • The way I figure it's an investment. It's not like it's twice the price. Besides, the amount of money saved vs buying packets! WOWSER!

I did check but Bing Lee don't have the Smart version in their eBay store.

  • Is the listed capacity the amount of uncooked rice you can put in, or the amount of cooked rice you get out?

    • Uncooked.

solids are not measured in Litres.

  • A smart rice cooker is a microwave and glass dish. No carcinogenic non stick coating burning or flaking off in food, no aluminium dish toxifying the brain, no need to buy another device that takes extra room in the kitchen
