Not sure how you get around the power problem, this has a single port for power and display. Phones won't output the 15W + displayport to drive this.
Good point. Don't think a phone is powerful enough to drive this.
I bought one from the last sale, confirming it works off a phone through the usb-c port. I'm on Huawei Mate 20 Pro
Obviously with the phone battery etc it may eat into the battery, so may still need to find a way to keep the phone charged whilst using it through a PD cable of some sort.
Awesome info BU34! Thanks for the input :) That's brilliant news as it adds even more value to what seems to be a great multi-purpose utility device. Nice!
Finally < $200. Any feedback on this seller? I'm keen to buy.
I purchased during their last deal here https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/474092. Paid $199 all up and was happy with delivery times and item was obviously brand new.
Link not working
Here is the link
Have had one of these for a while… Pretty nice setup, just make sure you dont loose the cable…. You need a specific PD USB C cable to work it.
What happens when you use another cable? Have you tried using say the one from the power supply on a laptop to see if that works?
Any USB-C cable works. I've used my own without any issues
It needs one with PD (power delivery). So not any USB C cable will work. One of our users lost the cable, and I went through around 6 different belkin/cygnett cables and ended up using a USB C cable that came with our new Dell monitors, as they are designed to pass power and video to the monitor.
Im sure the cable type is pretty freely available.
Just beware the USB spec on this isn't compatible with all usb-c laptops
Will it work with a current Macbook Pro?
Yes - used it for my Macbook Pro from a couple of years back (maybe 2 years old)
Anyone tried this with a Nintendo Switch?
Very nice! Anyone know if these are Windows only or could you use them via a USB-C port on an Android Smart Phone or Tablet too? Would obviously need extra power but that's fine. I'm guessing it needs Windows.
