Maybe have a read about the hassle members are having trying to cancel their eBay+ memberships and do something about that instead of trolling the "it's only a $1" issue.
Given the numerous complaints re cancellation difficulties, this whole one year membership for only $1 comes close to smelling like a scam to get people to sign up, then make it hard to cancel their membership after you take their first renewal fee though.

No email for me, but that may have more to do with me filtering/blocking a lot of deal emails in the past.
For me to trigger the deal, I opened the app, scrolled down to the deals and then a banner for eBay plus reared it's head before going to any of the deals.
Clicked "Free Trial."
Even though I've used a trial in the past, I found this interesting that any trial was even offered so YMMV regarding who it targets. The banner as per OP then showed up and I just clicked through as directed. $1 for first year.

When you cancel you still get the Plus benefits until your subscription/membership period expires, it sounds like your membership is still active, you can check here:

Had a free 3 months trial from 21/4/19 to 20/7/19 which was cancelled as i had previously had a 1 month trial in 2018 which i had cancelled at end of trial.
Have never paid anything but still seem to get the benefits of ebay plus?

Still can't see the value in it, with probably hundreds of items I've bought I've never been in the situation that plus would have saved me $ over just buying from another seller or waiting for a x% off voucher. Sellers I buy from are already free delivery or are not plus items anyway.
Yeah I've started buying from Amazon for a fair bit of the ebay stuff that isn't eligible under their new style of sales. Plus cashback from Shopback, win/win/win.
A good example for where it works well for me would be buying from "Computer Alliance" expecially when there are decent Ebay promos on. With Ebay Plus shipping is free where as I think it's $15 otherwise.
I order a lot of IT Stuff and it has definately worth it for me across the various vendors. Having said that have not paid $49 for it to date but have saved a lot compared to had I not had it.

As per the email, I was sent an offer that was already expired. I didn't bother to login to check if the offer was still valid because the email expiry date was in the past.
I just did a chat with them…and was told it's a targeted thing. If u get the email you're entitled to $1 joining, if not, then ur not.
There's a good chance deals like this will be ongoing, if you missed out on this one there will probably be another one in the weeks to come…

Signed up with the debit card with $1 on it, Ebay then cancelled my subscription due to the rejected $1 payment . Anyone else had this issue? Were they trying to “pre-auth” my card with $49?

Last month I signed up for free 4m trial and got only one month.
I guess we have to contact ebay to fix the problem.
Just check the ebay mobile app for your account. Website allows me to try the free trial only, but the app had the $1 offer.

Looks like is Via Email Invitation based on conditions. Mine expires today so will be interested to see if I receive anything.
This $1 offer said via email invitation also, but if you attempt to sign up after 9am on Monday, the $5 charge should automatically show under ‘Payment method’ (if you’re eligible for the offer).
Not only via email, it's also always (I think) visible within the users' account. We should probably try to mention both places IMO.
Usually if show there an email will have been sent (unless email notifications are turned off by users). Will be interested if anything shows up tomorrow but not holding my breath.

I went an hour over my trial period with eBay Plus and told them immediately I didn't want it and intended to cancel but forgot, they still out right refused a refund. Sure they are in the right with there contract but was poor customer experience and they were rude about it. Most companies let this slide and offer the refund. To see this offer though just adds salt to the wound. Just thought I would spread my bad experience eBay customer service.
