Low priced option for ultrawide gaming with G-Sync and IPS panel and a high refresh rate compared to X34P. Resolution 2560x1080 is the only real let down.

Yeah same, it's not that bad people make it out to be. I recently downgraded from ASUS pg348q to cfg73 1080p version. 1440p on monitor higher then 25 inch is a must if you plan on working with color accurate reproduction. Besides that 1080p is fine for me.
But yeah like other comments said. You're better off with high refresh rate 1440p 16:9 or 21:9 monitor if you're going to spend that much on a monitor.
1080p 😓
I will take ASUS P279Q.
Not worth it IMO. Asus, AOC, Acer have all got a 27" 2k IPS G-Sync 165 Hz OC monitors for around the same price or less.
I actually got the Dell aw3418dw for $900 in a previously posted deal coupled with cashback.
Agreed. This product has a strange combination of relatively low resolution and high refresh rate don't make a lot of sense.
For the same money, I'd get a cheaper 2k 16:9 screen and spend more money on GPU upgrades. You'd have a better gaming experience that way.
How can you compare a 27" monitor to this?
Because 27"+ is the domain of 2k resolution. Also I compared my 34" 2k ultra-wide.
You're right - they're not entirely comparable. A 27" 2k monitor has more pixels, and also better pixel density.
This product charges a ~$200 price premium for the ultra-wide form factor, compared to a standard 16:9 27" screen - doesn't really make sense for most people IMO.
The only use case that I can think of is if you're a CS:GO player who wants a relatively low-res screen to maintain a very high framerate, you feel that the ultra-wide form factor gives a meaningful advantage thanks to the increased peripheral vision, and you can justify the extra $300 over a standard 1080p G-sync screen. And even then, you might as well get a 29" ultra-wide at the same resolution and just sit a little closer to the screen.
I consider 2560x1080 on a 34 inch screen an insult to my eyes.
Was looking for the downside, almost bought-
Then saw 1080p.
I've been using mine for a little over a year now after getting it quite cheap. Coupled with IPS, high refresh rate and G-Sync, it's a pretty solid monitor that I haven't had any issues with, especially after fine tuning things like brightness/contrast/gamma etc.
Most people consider 2560x1080 too low by 2019 standards. But it's actually fine if your viewing distance isn't so close.
I'm a little bit over 1 meter from mine with 20/20 vision and it looks absolutely fine - apparently some people sit <50cm to their screen, if I bring myself over my desk and that close, sure, 1080p is too low.
