no, beef
I received my FREE sample from these guys (thank you), & have to say it's fantastic jerky:) Well packaged, too. Will order.
No need to be such a jerky about it
i have to say that i will be staying loyal to geronimo jerky.
if you dont mine waiting 2 months for it
http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/45067?page=1
half a dozen people still havent got theirs since early may
thats the people that have checked the forums or are on ozbargainsprolly heaps more waiting
Mine arrived after 5 weeks. I could tolerate that if the customer service wasn't completely non-existent. All my emails were completely ignored when asking what was going on and how long it should take to arrive. Good (? eh…) to see it's not just me. Completely unacceptable and won't be ordering from Geronimo again or recommending to anyone.
I don't suppose you thought to look on their shopfront page?
IMPORTANT UPDATE - HALF OFF Sale : Due to supply issues of the quality meat we use that were outside of our control there are some orders still to ship out. We are endeavoring to get all orders processed and sent as soon as possible and our dehydrators are running 24 hours a day to meet the demand.
Don't worry though, I got mine pretty quickly…I'm sure that's a comfort to you! ;)
Actually yes, I looked at the shopfront page early on to get their email address and there was no such notice. If they can't answer an email, I "wouldn't think" as you put it that they'd update their web site either.
I'm still waiting for mine when I ordered on the 3rd of May
Go to the supermarket, you'll find rusks in the baby aisle…you can chomp on those til your jerky turns up! :p
Same here. I got damaged packaging from Geronimo, sent them pics and mp4 of the damage and no reply to my email. Finally I reminded them to check their emails on posts here and I was asked to provide all details and I did so in posts here
http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/39832
Guess what, have not heard back from them since.
+1
I emailed Geronimo chasing up my order and they don't bother replying. Only before I place my order when they're trying to get a sale they bother.
Will not be buying from them again. I imagine a small home company like Geronimo should try to retain every customer and make them happy… but shame it wasn't the case.
I must say this guy stuffed up first time with his deal -but i will order because its the best i have had lots better that the geronimo one,
These guys make great beef jerky! No fancy packaging or anything, but top quality product. Good to see that you guys are posting deals now :D
why is jerky so expensive compared to meat?
It takes at least 3kg of lean beef steak to make 1kg of jerky. It is also a labour intensive process as most of the process is done by hand and not machines.
Is this deal also for Biltong?
So do you order and pay and email you.. or just put items in basket then email you?
Why cant you just create a coupon code
Just tried ordering took me straight through to Paypal without discount.
Ive emailed youThats the way. We will contact you tomorrow and you should have your jerky in t 3 to 4 days
coupon code coming soon
Still not had reply to email.
You really shouldn't post in here before you are actually ready to offer the deal

Yes ,you can twist my arm
Can one twist your arm for some sample packs? Say 50g of each flavour sold as a pack.
That way one could figure out what one likes without blowing vast wads of cash (or being erked by blowing vasts wads of cash on things that are not tasty).
Personally, I'd want to give it all a go and note down which is to my taste and which isn't then get more of that as I please.
The postage seems cheaper than the other guys.
If you've never had biltong before, definitely try it. I like the ones containing coriander.
im not sure I will like jerky but will think about ordering as i love anything with chilli
Do you make samples? I bought some medium pepper biltong a month ago, and it is very hard and not entirely to my taste. It would be great to experience the products with a sample pack.
would also love to try out all flavours in a sample pack
yes a free sample would be good to try before I buy
tried their samples they sent to me. chilli jerky is my pick over their biltong.
Yeah would love a sample before buying, im never buying from geronimo again, waited several months for my jerky. and its not all that great. barossa fine foods in SA sell at a better price & quality
Just wondering is any of the jerky Halal? Im stuck eating jack links at the moment which is the equivalent of going to get a nice cup of coffee by buying it at McDonalds.
p.s. not looking for a flame war on religion, its e legitimate question. Is there such a thing as low-sodium jerky? (<120mg per 100gm)?
the stuff is pretty high in sodium isn't it? it rivals instant noodles for sodium content. eating the stuff everyday can't be very good for you.
Worth bearing in mind that raw steak is about 60mg/100g IIRC. ;)
Yep, I use to love jerky. High in protein, lean, low carbs. Then I started thinking about sodium and it blew me away how much of it is in some jerky :(
Salt not only helps pull moisture from the meat, it also acts as a preservative. Jerky using salt will have an appreciably longer shelf-life than that without.
It's not cheap refined Table salt in Jerky anyway, it's curing/canning salt (sorry that's in homemade jerky, this one uses soy sauce.)
There was a time when salt was worth its weight in gold – literally. And quite right, too. Without salt, life would cease. Your muscles would not function, your ability to think would be impaired, your memory would fail and your heart would stop beating. And yet today, salt is the demon of the diet world.
As with so many of our ridiculous diet fads, the finger of blame is pointing in entirely the wrong direction, and much depends on how we define ‘salt’. Unrefined salt is very good for you.10,000 years ago salt was not an added product to foods. Sodium is found naturally in all foods anyways, which is enough to keep us alive. No one is saying salt is bad, its the excessive added salt in todays modern processed foods which is bad (together with low potassium). Added salt in today's diet is a hidden killer that doesn't get as much exposure as it should compared to carbs and fat.
An no, in my case any salt is not good for me, but that's due to a health condition.
i think the general medical consensus is that high sodium intake raises blood pressure and contributes to cardiovascular disease. 1-2g per 100g of sodium is high. if you eat a couple per day you will be taking in several grams per day. then there is the sodium content of all the other foods you also consume …

Price & postage certainly look mighty tempting! I still like Geronimo, but always open to new stuff…hey OP, any chance of some samples for OzBargainers? :)
hmm, i dont mind jerky, but im going to need some persuasion to layout $30 for biltong, it looks awful (dont mean to sound ignorant)
Biltong is so easy to make and CHEAP, you can buy silverside or topsipde from your butcher for $10 k/g. Seach google for "DIY Biltong" You will never look back ;)
http://www.diyza.com/Biltong/biltong.htm
make use of beef {silverside or topside} (Lose ± 40% in mass from raw meat to biltong)
mmmm, dulux flavour bilton. stuff that, i'd just eat the meat instead of all that stuffing around.
I've purchased from this place before. Very nice product. I got 500gms for fatty, wet biltong which was absolutely delicious!
They sent express as well so it was here the next day :)
lol Express is better than the 2 + month wait some people had/have with geronimo jerky
Yeah, there's a lot of cry-babies that'll neg for anything nowadays…you don't have to like everything anyone else does…each to their own I reckon! ;)
Roger, it's bath time and I've got a biscuit!
I like your prediction on the neg! :)
I have often felt appealed by Schmackos and thought "maybe if nobody is looking", but worried if I choked on it I would end up in the paper. True story.
It's one of those things you love or hate.
Further examples :
- Sushi
- Rhubarb - ewwwwwwwww! (Yes it's nice with Apple, but that means it's too disgusting to eat by itself!)
Have you thought of offering a sampler pack (kind of what some companies do with Chocolates or Donuts). I'd be happy to pay for it, the idea is to sample and try the different products you have rather than dishing out for the one big one. I'm keen to try a few of them actually.
Give me 2 weeks though, I had my wisdom teeth removed (ouch).
I ordered 2x 500g on Tuesday, arrived today. Sweet :)
Spoke to Jill who took my order, good customer service & the Jerky is pretty damn good. Not as dry as Geronimo which I'm good with.
The best thing is that I didn't have to wait a month for it to arrive!
Plus 1 from me. Asked for a free sample & received a small sample quickly & of the types I was interested in. Haven't managed to try it yet - but am impressed with the customer service & the fact the OP came back with a deal after that first post.
Smells more like spam to me.
