This or the OnePlus 7?
Looking likewise. Seems the OnePlus 7 camera is overrated, so would be worse than this.
My concerns with this are the Mate 30 is out in a few weeks, and this has been for sale for ages at this price. Also this phone should get Android Q but not sure after that.
I'm cross shopping this against the Pixel 3a, Galaxy s10e and OnePlus 7, and think I will end up with the Samsung. Not really interested in Xiaomi phones and being burnt before on the ZTE Axon 7 with the Google ban makes me wary of the Huawei.

How’s the Huawei brand? I’m looking to go from Apple and switch to android but have recently read the recent concerns of The US bans of the phone. Does this affect us too?

Hasn't that been reversed already? AFAIK that was just Trump trying to get better deals with trade negotiations. He did the same ban and unban with ZTE a few years ago.

Anybody with this phone: do you get used to the notch in the screen? Looking at the budget A20 but feel like the notch would annoy me when watching videos.
I had same concerns with iPhone but still bought one, once i start to use it, don’t really feel it
You can hide it in settings. That's what I did after I got my P20.
I have the much larger 7.2 inch mate 20x but same tear-drop notch.
Coming from a phone with no notch, it is there at first but after a few weeks you stop noticing it. Only bothers me when you're playing a game and there's a button on or near it.
But as mentioned there is an option that will add a permanent black bar on the notification area to hide it, so when you full screen videos there won't be a notch. Much less obtrusive than Samsung's black dot imo
I'm switching from iPhone X and using p30 pro now, it seems the drop notch looks a lots smaller than notch but somehow I found the drop notch is more "noticeable" from daily use. Like I would unconscioussly check the front camera hole, which I don't think I've ever do that on iPhone before.
I bought this phone when it was on sale at JB a few weeks ago. Can confirm, that this is a great phone with fantastic cameras. The camera does a great job separating the subject from the background, so you get really good portraits. I haven't found video to be as good though. I still think it is a great phone for this price.Certainly recommended!
Yeah my wife got this in the JB sale. She's loving it. Great camera and fast phone. She's not bothered by the notch at all.
Moving From a galaxy s7, I got this through a slightly better jbhifi deal few weeks ago. Fast phone, great rear camera. 6 GB ram is more than enough for usual gaming and it uses 7nm Kirin processor. Comes with a screen protector and a transparent back cover. Mind you it doesn't have oled display so colours appear realistic to me than galaxy but it's a personal preference imo. Notch is small enough to being not noticeable after a couple of days.
Recommend at this price.

The only thing that has put me off this phone is no micro sd. Lucky I didn't do the stock ozbargain action, which is to buy first ask questions later.
Has nano SD which is available but not the cheapest.
Yeah I thought it was just another name for micro SD, but then looked further into it. I only have one form of media in my household, since the days of memory stick being a must in PSP.
Bummer I do like this phone, not going back to heavily favouring the note 9
