Sound wise, are they a massive step up from the 35s? Because that’s almost double the price of many deals.

    • Because they are new, they will drop down in price just like QC35.

    • +6

From what I can tell, sound wise, these are terrible value compared to the XM3s or QC35. (that is - they are a minor step up on the QC35 and roughly equivalent to the XM3).

The biggest improvement I'm aware of is the microphone quality.

    • +1

This is really good if you are doing a lot of voice calls especially in a noisy environment. I believe the sound quality is not that much different with that of the QC35.

    • +1

Good question. I have a pair of Bose QC35II's… The 700's would need to make a quantum leap in technology, performance and features to justify this price tag.

Considering that other manufacturers such as Sony have been serving up some pretty competitive product in terms of performance and bang for buck, I can't imagine that this is nothing more than attempt by Bose to reposition themselves upmarket to try and recoup lost sales in the premium product. No doubt they will find a few clueless 'Influencers' to spruik the product.

Personally, I believe it would be wiser to hang back and look out for genuine product reviews. Ultimately it is your ears, and the best review will be made by you testing them yourselves and your OWN sources rather than the manipulated instore source that they expect you to listen to.

      • Jim's Review Room and Unbox Therapy have reviewed them. I trust the opinion of both channels. Honest opinions. No shills.

Holy crap I can get ally’s 2 xm3s for that price

    • +2

      McBeal?

      • +2

        Sheedy
        / showing age

      • Great show lol

Sorry typo meant to say “nearly “

    • How many ears do you have though?

  • +6

    SIX HUNDRED DOLLARS…

At that price I’m better off piercing my ear drums so I go deaf as a cost effective means of ANC

    • +1

      We'll wait.

    • HN is $495 + $100 gift card.

      • HN is $495 + $100 gift card.

        They’re $595.

        • Sorry, that's what I meant. Got confused by the EFTPOS card. $495 after using your card.

  • Apparently the NC is better compared to the QC35s. Not sure the price premium is worth it though

    • QC35s are $499 RRP.

      • +1

Im comparing market value. No1 in their right mind would pay rrp for the qc35s at this stage in it's life cycle

        • Value wise go buy a cheap amazon anc headphone lol. People have different preferences and budgets. QC35 are still fantastic, but I wouldn't buy them at their price right now as they aren't good value until they dip below the $300.

  • Didn't read the description. Still overpriced though

  • +1

Not that long until Black Friday sales and all the deals surrounding that. Will be interesting to see how quickly and how far the price falls and what that means for the QC35 ii's price…

    • The QC35ii has a $450 rrp and goes on special to around $330. This one has a rrp of $600, I don't see it going below $400…

Especially when Bose headphone prices hold up pretty well in the long run.

    $601.27 + 16203 pts - 2000 pts.

The 14203 pts is worth around $160. So essentially this is costing $440. Pretty cheap to me considering the lower AUD and the QC35ii/XM3 were $450 when first released and even now cost $300+.

    • +1

You must be earning in USD :)

    • How is 14203 points worth $160? Genuine question. I’m about to pull the trigger on the HN deal but will go this way instead if better.

      • Quick random search MEL-SYD: I can get to Syd for 8000 points and $37, or the cheapest fare is $190 (on QF). Thus the 8000 points are worth $157 in this case. I can even go business for 16,000 points and $37 vs $700 for the fare. I can't really say that 16,000 points are worth $673 (I should be comparing to the cheapest business class seat), but that's one way of looking at it.

Just so you know the math when it comes to redeeming points for products:

They can be had for 103240 points + $0.00 or 2000 points + $601.67, which means essentially they value 101240 points (103240 -2000) at $601.67 which equates to around $0.01 per 2 points.

The bonus 17000 points you receive in $$$ is essentially (17000/2) x 0.01 which equals $85.00. 601 - 85 = $516.00 (note this only applies to this product as it varies from product to product)

Great price. Thanks bought 10. Call me Bosedan.

  • +1

They added usb-c and doubled the price tag, well played bose

    • there's a touch pad now.

But the new headband means you can't fold the cups to store them more compactly.

  • Get a pair of Sony wf-1000xm3b and save yourself $250.

    https://www.qantasstore.com.au/p/sony-wh-1000xm3b-flagship-w…

    • Have a pair. Don’t like the sound signature and phone calls suck other than in a completely quiet room. Hence why I’m buying the new Bose.

      • I always hear good things about the B&O H9i's (around $500) and the Bose QC35II's (around $400), I have a pair of wf-1000xm3's and can't fault them. The price of these new Bose is just too much for me to justify, I'm sure they are quality though.

    • It's $360 + 2k Qantas points in your link. This cost $440, not much more..

      • As mentioned above, the bonus points are closer to $85 than $160 for products. Buying flights with points vs. buying upgrades with points vs. buying products with points is slightly different across the board.

  • +3

The 15,000 points you get are worth something,

but with a RRP of $599
and them wanting $601+2000 points originally, is very rich

    tempted to neg the deal

    • +2

Yeah, that’s a neg for me. It’s above RRP.

  • Want. Don't Need. So Tempted. Damn you, OzBargain, Damn you!

  • They are $600 on bose retail shops anyway. I was one in westfield parramatta.

  • +2

Rtings have done a comprehensive review on these headphones: https://www.rtings.com/headphones/reviews/bose/700-headphone…

If you want superior sound quality and ANC then the WH-1000XM3s are still the best and can be had for half the price. The ANC in these is virtually the same as the QC35s. If call quality is a bigger concern then definitely these.

    • If you want to make calls, connect more than a single device, and want something different than every other person with xm3.

    • I think it might be $595 :-) Bargain (cough!). I guess that's the price for cutting edge tech… My QC35's might just last another couple of years…

      • Yea I couldn't imagine spending more than $150 on travel headphones either, but that's just me.

  • Is this a joke? RRP is $599.99. Paying MORE than full price PLUS 2000 points is somehow a deal?

    • No, I didn’t post this to antagonise anyone. I just thought 13,000 qantas points might go further for some then $100 Gerry Harvey bucks. With the Amazon and Premium Sound deals now posted, this deal is an obvious dud.

      • Fair enough! :)

      • No its not. Thanks for posting. I will end up paying $440 for it. $360 after TRS :)

Even less when I claim price protection in 6 months time.

  • $2.57 and 2000pts higher than full retail!!

    Edit…. Ok bonus 15000 point (net 13,000)

13,000 points is worth about approx $100 on the Qantas store.
