Milwaukee 18v 3 Piece 3x5.0ah Combo Kit + Bonus Hackzall $699 @ Total Tools

191

$699 - MILWAUKEE 18V 3 PIECE 3 X 5.0AH COMBO KIT M18FPP3F2503P
For those tradies/apprentices out there.. this is definately a good deal.

I've personally used Milwaukee drills for nearly 9 years now and it has not let me down. I used it for solar panel installation, wall chasing and other heavy duty work.

The new version comes brushless and definately delivers much more power.

It comes with 3x5A batteries. i only have 4A currently and it is enough juice to cut out a 90mm brick wall.

This is the normal price. It's $699 everywhere. The bonus Hackzall appears to be the deal, and it's not specific to Total Tools.

Agreed, No bargain, since it's the standard/same price available at many different retailers.

        • Good redemptions have often been considered 'bargains'. Nothing new and I've got no problem with it.

Problem here is that poster didn't focus on the redemption.

        • If you're going into to the technicality of a bargain which relies on free market practice, sure, this doesn't fulfil all the criteria.

If you're hanging out for the right time to buy a kit, this may be it.

I personally don't think it is the best deal since redemption deals are always around and whilst the discount of the RRP of individual skins may be good, it doesn't have a good combination of skins.

Blowers are only useful in niche situations as many wet/dry vacs have a blower function already. Instead, a angle grinder or a circular saw would have been much better, even if the price is adjusted to accommodate.

      • The problem is the tool manufacturers set prices, which is anti competitive behaviour, dealers are not allowed to provide any discounts. I contacted the ACCC about it, and they said, they are not allowed to unless authorised by the ACCC, and guess what, they allow it.. so the anti competitive watchdog, allows anti competitive behaviours, surprise surprise, a government organisation not doing what they are supposed to do.

        government sanctioned price fixing.

Not surprised. ASIC and APRA are supposed to regulate financial institutions too.

        • I found this out last week trying to get a good deal on this milwaukee light skin. I even tried buying through my employer who spends big at total tools and usually looks after us, but they couldn't/wouldn't budge on this product.

I'm don't believe a lone manufacturer setting the price like this constitutes anti competitive behaviour though.

          • @watts: That's a good point. Milwaukee would probably have to collude with Makita and Bosch to constitute anti competitive behaviour.

          • +1

@watts: It's anti-competitive if they act to prevent retailers from competing on price. They might do this by saying "If you discount below price X, we will not deal with you anymore". This action is what the problem is, and it is supposed to be regulated against.

Of course, it's very difficult to prove this sort of thing unless the manufacturer/wholesaler has been terribly obvious about it. Business have the right to 'refuse to deal', which means that they can decide not to deal with you anymore simply because they don't like you. They are not allowed to do it because you undercut the other retailers though.

@Banj0: Apple is the largest offender of this and have been fixing prices (that i know of) since the ipod 1st gen. Report discounted sales (contractually bound to report all sales) outside of apple promotion and retailer will be blacklisted. RIP bargains
