The reviews on amazon say that it overheats after a few minutes on large transfers, cutting the write speeds to <10MB/s. The plastic cover tends to break. It also suffers from the Sandisk "read-only on failure" firmware fallback.
Think I'll get a 256GB Samsung micro-sd and a USB 3.0 adapter.
What's the write speed and reliability of that route?
Overheats after 30 seconds of transfer. Avoid it at all costs. Better go for a cheap ssd
I recently got a 64GB from the $13 deal, and while it's compact and cheap, I don't have much else positive to say. It can briefly write up to 40-60MB/s, but it rapidly heats up and drops down to as low as 1MB/s. On one occasion it froze up and crashed Windows Explorer. Just having it plugged in, without reading or writing, is enough for it to get noticeably hot even through the plastic. I'd personally recommend avoiding these.
I use one in the car for music, it's nice not having to worry about accidentally snapping it off in the usb port.
Had these before and both times the read/write speed stuffed up.
SanDisk are great with warranty though.
Gave up on them and got the bigger sandisk flash drive instead which has been much more reliable.Comes with recovery software, you may need it.
have same one with 128GB
overheats after a few minutes on large transfersSpeeds are about a third of my other usb 3 usb drives
Recommend waiting for a similar deal on Samsung USB if you're after a 256GB.
Doesn't get as hot, better quality construction and has faster sustained write speeds.
Are these any good? I remember having the silver version before this and they just fell apart after a year. This design does look better
