Hi.
Looking for a cheap vacuum cleaner. Around $100 but can go up to $150 for a something really worthy. Don't know what I should be looking for feature-wise though. Just throw some recommendations at me please.
Thank you.

kmart - highly regarded
Absolutely agree. The new Anko brand vacuum are excellent.
i was about to buy a kmart one today but stopped myself from the impulse purchase. ive read that it loses suction after a few months?
I'm also looking for a $200-$300 vacuum but the kmart one is intriguing me
i'm a bit late to the party but in the same situation. what did you go with and if kmart, are you happy with it a few months down the road?
@rwandrall: I ended up getting the Miele classic

even cheaper atm pm Bing Lee eBay with the 20% off. about 150.
I'm happy with it, as are most ppl.
@CheapskateQueen: Thanks!
Get the 2400W Standard vacuum cleaner from Kmart.
It does 80% of the job of a Dyson, but at 20% of the cost. Benefits of mass production, stable economy and technology!
Had a Miele corded vacuum for years. It's great.. slightly more than your price range though, I would say about $250.
Dyson V11 absolute
You could grab an Ozito shopvac from bunnings if you're really on a budget. I have the 20L one for $65 and was surprised with how much power it has. And it can suck up liquids as well!
My sister in law uses the same one for her cleaning business, she recommended it, so i know its up to the task of everyday use.

is that a big deal the difference between 1250w and 2400w?
get a miele c1 compact. $270 on ebay. You won't regret it
I bought the SCA vac during their last sale (50% off). Even at full price, $106, this thing REALLY is powerful! I've had it for over a year now and NO loss of suction. It's also bag-less and easy to disassemble to clean.

I usually have to leave the small vent on the wand open or it will get STUCK to the floor.
Go wireless, makes life and cleaning so much easier.
If it's a small 1-2 bed carpeted apartment, this does the job perfectly fine and compact enough to store under the kitchen sink.

Do you want to actually clean or do you just want a vacuum cleaner?
Don't need to answer this, just something to ask yourself.
Pay peanuts and get peanuts.
But you could probably get a Hoover smart for that price if you can haggle. Always buy a bagged machine
