Negative Feedback on UberEATS - Advice Needed

Hi All,

I recently started delivering with UberEats to keep me busy whilst my partner is working overtime.

I've done about 500 trips and received about 100 customer reviews. 97 positive and 3 negative.

That's not terrible but I just feel like the 3 negative ones were unjust. The last one left me suspended.

I'm very professional with the customers just as I am with my career job.

1st negative feedback: Customer asked me to deliver to door. I found parking, called the unit number and attempted to use the lift. The lift was faulty and wouldn't let me go up. Called customer who came down. Negative feedback for not delivering to door.

2nd negative feedback: Customer entered in the wrong address and I spoke to them on the phone and got the new address. Upon arrival they offered me a tip for my troubles. I told them it was no problem and was just happy to help so didn't take the tip. Negative feedback for "Professionalism".

3rd negative feedback: 2 hours after delivering to a house an email was sent to me that I was under investigation for "Food Tampering" I didn't touch, nor would ever even think about tamper with anyones food. The delivery was to a bunch of teenage kids and I feel like they just said that to get a free meal.

I'm now suspended from the program. I don't mind, but I feel like the system is unfair for those that rely on this as income.

Do you use UberEats? Have you ever left negative feedback? It was an interesting experience and I don't know what I could have done differently.

@ $9 per hour you probably not going to miss it much!

I was actually earning between $30 - $40 per hour. You get between $10 - $15 per delivery. But yes it wasn't much regardless.

        that is wishful……

hey as long as you believe it, that is cool by me…..

Did you also deliver with UberEats? I'm sure it would be less per delivery in a highly populated area. You get a $6 set fee + $1.50 per k's driven. After tax and petrol it's more like $10.

      • have you calculate the uber fee?

I prefer to eat in the restaurant, especially if they allow me to BYO. The gig economy sucks. Don’t worry about the negs. I hope you get a better job soon.

Did you contact Uber about what happened? What did they say?

    • +3

Would definelty be worth looking into that second one - I don’t know what the feedback system is like (ie red flags when you choose negative), but I wonder if that second one was an error.

Please tell Uber about these incidents. This is so unfair. I hope everything gets better for you.

Those feedbacks make it sound like UberEats really has your back. NOT! Sounds like you're a hard worker, and I hope you can find a new job with a boss who appreciates your efforts. Their loss!

People are idiots. The company said disregard negative feedback without an adequate explanation if you have a good standing record. Reviews are damn annoying.

Sounds like UberEats employees need body cams.

Employees? Ha! Private contractors with no minimum wage or other protections

    • drivers are not employees

I'm guessing the suspension may be due to the tampering not the number of feedback? I kind of feel almost most places kind of need a negative feedback, like if I see a restaurant that has 5 stars and 100 feedback, I assume its fake because you always get a couple people that negs for silly or no reason at all.

Still though, I feel most you can do is complain to UberEats, while I like the idea, I feel theres many areas where Uber just 'doesn't care' to both customer and delivery person. They'd rather just ignore it, get some other person in or something. Feel like easy come easy go is there motto.

    Yeah, go talk to ACA.

    They love people stories.

I'd guess with UberEats you are an independent contractor, but is there
someone you can contact to have the decision reviewed?

All it takes is an article like:
    https://www.news.com.au/finance/business/retail/more-than-on…
and then it is open season for false complaints.

Uber and amazon treat workers like expendable cogs. Just boycott.

This is what restaurant owners have to put up with daily with unfair reviews being posted on Google, Tripadvisor etc… But luckily, now restaurants can simply send food via a third party, have no control of what is actually happening with the food once it leaves the store, get charged 30%-35% commission for the privilege and then still get a negative review because the food arrives cold.

So everyone gets screwed apart from the people having to do absolutely zero work for it… love the gig economy

  • Just a few thoughts from my end - wondering what you think?

1st negative feedback: Customer asked me to deliver to door. I found parking, called the unit number and attempted to use the lift. The lift was faulty and wouldn't let me go up. Called customer who came down. Negative feedback for not delivering to door.

    • How did they come down? Stairs? Was it possible for you to take the same path they did to deliver to door? Inconvenience I know but an option I guess.

2nd negative feedback: Customer entered in the wrong address and I spoke to them on the phone and got the new address. Upon arrival they offered me a tip for my troubles. I told them it was no problem and was just happy to help so didn't take the tip. Negative feedback for "Professionalism".

    • My only assumption is that they think you got the address wrong, delivered incorrectly and inconvenienced them. Otherwise it doesn't make sense to -VE you for going the extra step (or unless there's some grandeur delusion that you've insulted them for not taking the tip).

Inevitable that some people will scam the system and try to get free food. I can't think of a solution to this other than being methodical (and inconveniencing yourself) by taking photos of all your deliveries at the door (sealed). However, it could also be the restaurant forgetting food/not putting stuff in intentionally. It seems regardless of scenario, the driver is in a shitty situation of being guilty until proven innocent.

  • My son helped pay is way through a 1 year college course last year in Auckland doing uber eats, would make $80- $100 for a few hours. Sounds rough OP surely they would look into it.

Yeah, around 10% of humans are just absolute cakeholes who deserve to be strapped to a rocket & sent on a one-way trip to Mars.

Really sorry this happened to you, OP. The gig economy sucks. Hope you find a better job better soon.

  • Uber Eats never confirm who gave the feedbacks (positive and negative). A customer can rate you even a week after the delivery was completed.

Uber Eats is bias most of the time especially with customer feedbacks.

  • Confused, aren't you a "Doctor working in a Public/Private Hospital in Sydney", and "$400 is about 2 hours of overtime"?

… Not stalking I promise, was reading up on health insurance and realised the name matched up.

Edit: nevermind, re-read your post. Makes sense.

But lol at some of the comments above
    - ”I hope you get a better job soon"
    - "I hope everything gets better for you"
    - "hope you can find a new job with a boss who appreciates your efforts"
Good luck with the last one though haha ;)

  • Yes, I have left negative feedback just once when the driver (cyclist) took nearly an hour to deliver my order after picking it up from the restaurant. I live a 10min ride away, and it’s straight down the road - very simple. He went in completely the wrong direction and didn’t respond to my calls or texts to let him know. The food was a congealed mess by the time it got to me.

      He was doing double delivery

    • he probably using multiple accounts or multiple delivery platforms.
