Free $400 Gift Card or Apple Watch 3 GPS When You Sign-up to Doctors Health Fund

110

Free $400 Gift Card or Apple 3 GPS when you sign-up for Hospitals + Extras cover from Doctors Health Fund.

I've done extensive research and DHF is one of the best private health insurance companies around.

The inclusions and cost compared to others is excellent.

Basic cover starts at around $90 for health insurance + $20 for extras per month.

You also only need the middle cover option if you want pregnancy included.

To join the fund you need to be a registered or former:

medical;
medical radiation
optometry;
dental
occupational therapy;
physiotherapy;
psychology;

However, you can also be related to someone in one of those professions.

Spouse or partner
Dependant children
Adult children (including spouse or partner)
Parents
Siblings (including spouse or partner)
Nieces and nephews
Grandchildren

So if your Auntie is a dentist or your grandfather is a retired optometrist - you count too.

I'm sure most people can find a link somewhere in the family.

  • How do they verify the profession?

    • They will ask for your or your relatives AHPRA registration number: https://www.ahpra.gov.au/

  • Got to prove relationship?

  • When it says medical, would nurses count?

    • You can be any employee of a medical practice but I don't think hospital or NSW health employed nurses count.

      • What about QLD Health?

  • Member needs to be active, financial and remain on combined hospital & extras cover for 10 continuous weeks after joining the fund before the gift is issued. Gift will be delivered approximately 14 weeks after joining.

    Do it's basically 3 months free on the basics cover.

    Too expensive for me compared to Medibank

    • Make sure you're comparing the same excess and inclusions. The lowest package from DHF might be the same as a mid-package from other funds.

    They lost me on the apple watch series 3.

      Lol, the $400 would be the no-brainer. Can buy an apple watch at retail. Are you with this health fund? Most medico's I know are..

      • +1

        Im with CBHS. Too much of a bother to change it around i think.

          "if you’re switching from another fund, we take care of all the paperwork including contacting your current fund." But yes, $400 is about 2 hours of overtime. Not sure if it's worth the hassle for you.

          • @[Deactivated]: I make $40/hr pretax so $400 untaxed is worth 8 hours of overtime my friend. Also I guess I just don't want to have to make the comparisons and make sure that DHF is better than CBHS.

              @Save Medicare: I'm assuming you're a JMO then. Just do some work as a Locum Reg in a few years and you'll be seeing some more money in your payslip.

  • I have extra with them and they are way better than any other insurance I had or compared before. I would recommend them if anyone is eligible.

    • -1

      Agree, been really happy.

  • Now I need to look for a distant cousin who is a doctor or a dentist…

    • Same…

    • Unfortunately Cousin wont help to get this policy, i just called and they said Cousin is out of list.

  • "I've done extensive research and DHF is one of the best private health insurance companies around."

    What makes this so? I'm asking as I'm genuinely interested in joining if I can see benefit

      The list of inclusions and the freedom to choose your own Doctor and Hospital were big positives. Compare it to BUPA where you're locked into their preferred systems. The claiming process was also really positive. They didn't seem to be looking for reasons to not cover you like others. They also include pregnancy in the middle tier whilst others include this in the top tier only which makes no sense when you're a healthy young adult. CBHS might also be very good. Research both. I'm not trying to sell you anything.

      • Thanks! I'll look into it

      • -1

        You can choose your own doctor and hospital with any health fund. Inclusions differ true.
        Bupa does not lock you in to their systems, just have better benefits for their networks.
        Very expensive.
        Sounds like u should be ticking the associated button….

        • https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2018/mar/06/docto… // better benefits or the same as others would give at any hospital. I'm not an insurance salesperson, I'm a Doctor working in a Public/Private Hospital in Sydney, from personal experience I wouldn't recommend BUPA.

          • @[Deactivated]: Sure. And at any of the hospitals you work in are there any contracts with Bupa?
            At none of the seven I work in around Sydney there are any such contracts.
            Bupa largely backflipped on this 2 months afterwards. Old news.

          Bupa.. Never again.

  • nice timing , will join
