There have been deals that are slightly cheaper recently, but this still a pretty good deal if you need to get someone into iOS land on the cheap. You get a 6 month warranty and according to the listing, these phones have been inspected and tested by Amazon-qualified suppliers (for what that's worth).

Given it’s a refurb - Using 28 degrees would we get 1 year cover for accidental damage?

Don’t know why you got downvoted. This is a smart idea and legitimate question.

Battery condition, and after-market replacement screen quality would be the questions?

So the generic standard Amazon "Renewed" program standard says 80% capacity as a minimum, however iPhones won't operate below 80% battery capacity, so I suspect they'd have a lot more than that.

I suspect the part where it says "Product works and looks like new. Includes a minimum 180-day seller-backed warranty." AND "An Amazon Renewed supplier who is Amazon-qualified and performance managed, but not Apple certified, performs a full diagnostic test, replaces any defective parts, and thoroughly cleans the product." implies they'd have a new or near new battery installed.

Can't comment on the screen quality though.

      • Why won’t iPhones operate below 80%? My wife’s se was at 75% before we replaced the battery (under the cheap replacement program last year) and it was running fine?

        • Well in my experience (my own iPhone 7 Plus) and others with iPhone 7s below 80% they noticed lots of slow downs (enforced by the phone) and the phone warning them to replace the battery.

The software is designed to coax you to replace the battery below 80%.

I’d consider that not really operating and in the context of this post, I doubt they’d sell a “Product that works and looks like new” with a battery that needs replacing as soon as you get.

@bargaineer: You can turn that off. The battery life suffers but the slow downs stop.

This isn’t some conspiracy to make money. The software was built to prioritize battery life. They failed to tell people that and then fixed it with iOS 12.

            • @blergmonkeys: I never suggested otherwise, not sure why this has turned into some Apple bashing conspiracy debate.

I’m simply making the point that selling a phone under the premise of “Product works and looks like new” means it not likely they’re going to give a battery that is on the verge of what Apple’s software would consider knackered

Also just for clarity, it’s not as simple as turning off the performance management. If the phone goes to draw more power than the battery can provide, you’re still going to get the shut downs (as me and other iPhone 7 / 7 Plus) users have experienced.

    • Yeah their listing the iPhone 7 32GB cheaper, but the condition of those are "Average". These are listed as works and looks like "New"… big difference.

Friends don't let friends venture into iosland.

(Not to imply that the alternatives are perfect)

      Shots fired.

But seriously for parents, grand parents and just any old people in general, iOS is great and getting an iPhone that is cheap enough (and will receive updates for years to come) for those folks is tough.

      • Friends don't let friends…

I treat my family as family, not friends lol

  • just picked up a refurb iphone 7 from kogan for 10 bucks less. if you're unsure about the condition of this deal i would recommend the kogan one as my phone had no scratches on the front and nothing but a couple of flecks of black paint missing from the back.

For anyone interested I bought the 128gig iPhone 7 for $449 on the weekend and received it today.
    Initial thoughts
    - At a quick glance it looks like a new phone. On closer inspection there are tiny signs of wear on the back. Very happy with this.
    - Battery capacity is 84%. Would've nice to have been closer to 90 but fair for the price I guess.
    - Serial number lookup says it is just over two years old.
    - Speaker sounds tinny and doesn't get very loud. This is the biggest let down. I will be considering returning it for this reason.
