    • Cheers I'll put that in post

    • can ow do pricebeat online? thanks

      • I think you have to call them

    • I dont think they do, saw a comment on another post mentioning a few models that are Rosewood but not this one i think

    • very likely

      Latest backup Plus – STDS1000900 & STDS2000900

      https://www.datlabsdatarecovery.co.uk/seagate-rosewood/

      • the model on JB lists it as STDR2000302 ?

I checked an older one that i bought earlier this year, box has the model number as Model: STDR2000301 and the drive inside is the rosewood ST2000LM007. I don't have the box fr an older one i have, but it's also a seagate backup plus slim but the drive inside is ST2000LM003, can't find any info on it being rosewood

    • did you end up buying one? interested to know what drive it has

nevermind.. saw the comment below, these are rosewood drives. avoid

      • You're welcome haha I've got it running as a data drive on my laptop, so far so good.

  • will it fit in ps4

    • +1

Just plug it into the ps4 and use as extended

      • +1

Better to replace it directly if it's going to be used often

Yeah, the 2tb will. I have one of these in mine.

  • Are these shuckable and worth the effort?

My use is to replace the HDD in my old laptop. I don't need it for good storage. Just mainly to have an OS and able to act as a conduit to transfer files from my camera to portable HDDs during travel.

    • +2

Yes, they are (at least the 2TB variant)
Source: I just bought one today, shucked and replaced in a notebook about an hour ago. Used the old HDD in the enclosure as a backup drive now.

If you don't need the storage though and want it in old laptop as an OS disk I would not be looking for anything else than SSD.
For similar price you can get 500GB SSD HDD which will make your old notebook flying again. Also great for travel as way less susceptible to vibrations and bumps.

      • Good point on getting a SSD instead for my use case. I was originally planning on a SSD but the Ozabraguner in me was tempted because of the capacity even though I don't need the extra storage.

It's always good to get clarity from an outside perspective. Thanks.

I'll just wait for a good SSD deal to pop up.

Do you know which hdd was inside? Previous discussions about rosewood has me worried about shucking as I'll lose warranty on something that has high failrate.

I got one today, the receipt says 2018 however the actual hdd has DOM of 03/2019

        • +2

          I shucked mine anyway.

          ST2000LM007
          FW: EB01
          DOM: 06MAR2019

So yes, these are the dreaded rosewood hdd.

          • @CodeXD: Thanks for taking the hit for the team so we know what's inside.
